"Come with me while I fill Robert in," Brian said. "You might as well know all of it. Is Edward around?"
"I'm sure he's on his way up," Robert said. "I told him you were bringing Angus home from St. Mungos and was going to need more care. So, he's going to want to know what happened."
"Let's not talk in here," Brian said. He found Edward coming down the hallway, and Brian took them all next door, to the master bedroom that he and Khaat shared, and motioned to them to sit down. "Here's what I know, from putting things together. He evidently went to Sparks and the tobacconist like he said he would. He told me he was leaving the tobacconist and saw an old woman collapse in the street from the virus. He did what any decent fellow would do and took her to St. Mungo's.
"Things seem to have gone off the rails when he got there. Near as Jess and I can put it together, the nursing staff saw the rash on his neck and more or less forced him into a treatment room. It also sounds like nobody was listening to him, somehow, but I have more facts to gather. There's something I'm missing yet, but by the time I got to him, he was unconscious on the floor in the treatment room. The healer that had treated him for the virus didn't give him any sort of symptomatic treatment for the virus. What they gave him, by mistake was a full one potions cup dose of Supershock potion...."
"What!" Robert exploded.
"Oh, dear god," Edward paled. "Robert..."
"I'll take good care of him, I give you my word, Edward."
"How is he even alive, much less home...?" Edward was infuriated.
"Because Jess and I were there," Brian said. "She helped me stabilize him, and I cast as much of an antidote spell as I could. There is no antidote in stock at St Mungo for Supershock..."
"Well, I sure as hell can make some," Robert said.
"I'll make it. You just let me into your workroom and then take good care of my grandson," Edward said. "How is he now, Brian?"
"Very weak. He has some sense, I think, of how close this was. I don't have all the facts, but he really was terrified I would leave him there. I needed to get him home, and i needed to get him to you, Robert. On that, he and I completely agreed."
"Ruby," Robert said. "Supershock potion is geared to reduce a surge in magical energy that a wizard might suffer because of some sort of spell gone wrong. It is designed to reduce the magical energy in the body. A single dose of Supershock is 1-5 drops in a potion dose cup and then diluted with water. Never any more than 5 drops max because more than that is lethal. This healer gave Angus a full one dose cup. It absolutely would have killed him if Brian and Jess wouldn't have been there. And, he also has the stupid virus, and that also weakens his body. This is exceptionally serious. By rights, he should be in ICU right now. So, here's what we're going to do. I'm going to stay with him until I tell you all otherwise. We're going to temporarily provide him some very intense care right here at home. If things go well, he could well be out of danger by morning, but I will not be leaving him until I know for certain that the crisis is completely past him.
"Brian, I want the name of that asshat that treated him. You get back there and find out what the hell happened that they treated him at all. He would have come home for treatment even if he had known he had the virus. He wouldn't have let some stranger take care of him. I want the full facts, and I want them now."
