"Not a problem, Dear," Simone said, "I'm always glad to be useful."
"Of course," Marcus said. "I know what he likes." He tucked the book in his jacket and then he and Robert took Abbey and apparated to Honeydukes.
Jonathan was delighted to see Robert and Marcus arrive with Abbey. He took Abbey from Robert and gave her a big hug and he took her straight back to the candy kitchen, motioning Robert and Marcus to follow. Jonathan helped her to take a pretzel rod, roll it in melted caramel, then in chocolate and then in Jonathan's new sprinkles. It was beautiful.
"Now, watch," Jonathan told her. "Lumos!" He used a simple lighting spell, and the sprinkles on the wand lit up. "Now, wave your wand." She waved her wand, causing rainbow colors of light to form a wave shape in the room, and they rippled before they faded.
"Jonathan, it's brilliant," Robert said.
"They'll make shapes too, if you want. They rather work like frogs. They have one good spell in them, and that's about it. After all, you really want to be able to eat them, right?"
"Absolutely. Those are going to be fun," Robert said.
"How soon can we get enough to take back to Brian's?" Marcus asked.
"Well, how about you lot go shop for your candy, and I'll make some up for you to take with you. If Khaat and Brian like them, I'd say we can have them ready and into Sparks by the end of the week."
"They're going to love them, especially Khaat. She's going to be completely over the moon with them."
"Jonathan, you may hear a rumor about your jellybeans," Robert said.
"Meh, already know about it. And I've quality checked all my candy. It isn't coming from here. If somebody's got tainted jellybeans, then one of their trusted friends isn't so trustworthy, but I thank you anyway. I'm not overly concerned. I have asked someone from the Department of Magical Accidents to check them, and they took a sample of each of my candies early this morning. I think we're going to be fine," Jonathan said.
"Let's go fill up a big basket full of candy," Marcus told Abbey, taking her out to the front of the shop and picking up a basket. She began taking big handfuls of candy and chucking it in the basket. It made him laugh. He had to slow her down and get her to only get the candy she really wanted. But, for Abbey, that was all of it. Jonathan and Robert watched Marcus try to get Abbey to not buy a pound of every candy Jonathan had, and it was all they could do not to laugh themselves silly.
"I should go help him," Robert said
"Why?" Jonathan laughed. "Let him struggle. I want to see who wins."
"She will," Robert said confidently. "She has him wrapped around her little finger, and she loves it."
"She loves him."
"Yes. She does."
"I think she loves every one of those one million people in your house," Jonathan said.
"She does. It gives her family. Without them, it would just be Kate and me and Khaat and Brian for her. That's all. Brian's brother and sister are too far away. And Kate and I neither one have anyone now but Khaat and Brian. Now she has a huge family."
"And she just includes Claire and I and Marcus's children right in that."
"As well she should," Robert said. "Oh, can you include whatever fudge Angus and Michael both like?"
"That's not a problem. They like it all," Jonathan laughed.
