Fee Fi Fo Fum

Jess moved to take the smaller little girl from Robert wrapping her in the blanket and handing her off to the midwife that was waiting behind her, she could not help but send some of her energy into her to help her recover. Turning to see Robert yawn she looked to Jack who turned and left the theater. " Jacks gone to get some Coffee for you." Jess said handing him a long needle and suture so he could close up. "were willing to wait." Jess said.

Jack left the theater and quickly changed into his normal clothes once done he aperated to the house "Angus, a coffee to go for Robert please, hes almost done but he's yawning" he said walking into the kitchen.

"I'll let you know what Hazel says as soon as I have a chance to talk to her," Robert told them.

"Alright," Angus said, not surprised Jack had returned. "I thought I ought to put on a pot of French roast tonight. It isn't espresso, but that's not what he's after." He took a large travel mug and filled it with coffee and added some butter pecan flavored creamer. Angus knew well how to get Robert through a long night, and he was just going to roll with how he usually handled it unless Robert told him otherwise.

"He hasn't had food for awhile, so he does not need black coffee on an empty stomach. He does not need a stomach upset on top of everything else," Angus told Jack. "He's used to me slipping a little creamer into his coffee at some point on nights like this. He doesn't usually care for it, but he just puts up with me. If he's really got to keep going, you can add six drops of Wide Eye potion to this mug, put the lid on tightly, give the mug just a little gentle shake to mix it in before you hand it to him. That will keep him going for another three or four hours if he has to. Keep me updated if you can, and I'll make sure he gets some food if it goes that long." He handed the mug to Jack.

"Do you want me to go along and see if I can do anything to help, Jack? I know Jess is already there, so I don't know that I would be any more help. Jess is a fine healer, and I'm sure she can handle it. If she needs me, or if Robert finally can't finish there tonight, you alert me, and I'll come and either help Jess or help you get him home, fair enough?" Brian asked.

Robert finished closing the incision on Hazel and checked her to be sure she was still stable.

"She's fine," John said. "Well done--again. The new potion kept her out of it all the way through, and her vital signs are much better than when we started. We'll finish up here now, and I'll send you word when we get her back to her room and awake."

"Someone from this team needs to stay with her until I get there," Robert said. "I do not need anyone spilling the beans to her and upsetting her. I'll tell her myself as soon as she wakes up. Understand me?"

Jack listened to Angus and nodded looking for a small bottle Jess had left on the coffee table, seeing it he picked it up and slipped it into his pocket. Turning he saw Brian and heard him.

"I think he's almost finished and yeah Jess is with him, she sent me back to fetch the coffee, um Jess and I are thinking of adopting two baby's, a boy and a girl, but Robert needs to talk to the mother first and well we need to find out how we can." he said to Brian a smile lighting up his face.

"okay I got that and Angus I will send an owl if I need anything else" he said taking the coffee and creamer " I'd better get back with this." he said now smiling as he aperated to Roberts office to wait for him to return.

"Good for you," Brian smiled. "I hope it goes well for you both."

Robert went back to the locker room and changed back to his normal clothes and took Jack's locker key to make it easier for Jack to get his own clothes back. He went back up to his office, knowing Jack would show up there sooner or later. He yawned again as he walked down the silent hallway on the empty fifth floor and went down to his office and opened the door.

"Oh, there you are," Robert said. "Here--the key to your locker. Thought you might like your own clothes back. Scrubs are not very warm to be dashing about in all night. I have a lot of experience in that--more than I like." He sat down at his desk, opened the drawer and got the things from his pockets and put them back in his pockets where they belonged. He also saw a brown glass bottle and he took it from the drawer and put it on the desk.

"Old fashioned aspirin," he told Jack. "I'm getting quite a headache. The sooner I get done with Hazel, the sooner we can go home. So, was that the first childbirth you've ever seen?"

Jess stayed with Hazel as she was taken up to a ward.

Jack chuckled and looked at his scrubs " whoops, yeah" he said taking off the lid to the coffee he added the creamer then replaced it and gently shook it to mix it before placing it down in front of Robert "A gift from Angus" he said " and that was not what I expected, she will be okay right?" he asked " and the babies where were they taken?" he had a ton of questions to ask him but the office door opened and Jess walked in.

"Hazel is settled on a ward Robert the night staff are keeping a close eye on her." she said looking at Jack " you look good in scrubs , you should wear them more often." she said with a chuckle.

"um..I should..um change " Jack said not quite sure how to reply " Robert has head ache." he quickly said and left the office to change. Jess moved to behind Robert and placed her fingers on his temple to draw off some of the pain.

"Asprin? that will only take the edge off, sleep would cure it for good." she said " your energy is running low."

Robert was going to reply when Jess came in. He was glad for her update.

"Physically, Hazel will be fine," Robert said. "She'd go home tomorrow if she had any family to help look after her for a day or so. As it is, we'll keep her around for a couple of days until we know she's perking up. The babies were taken to the nursery and will be admitted under 'Baby Boy Blackwing' and 'Baby Girl Blackwing.' If she decides to surrender them for adoption before they're ready for discharge, then we'll change the names on their admissions. I don't plan on rushing her, though. I want her to be certain of her choice. I want her to have no regrets, whatever she chooses. It certainly isn't any easy choice, that's for certain."

"Thank you for the coffee, Jack," he said, opening the lid and smelling the deep rich aroma of coffee with the warm aroma of pecan and butter and vanilla. He wasn't going to even complain about the flavored creamer. It clearly Angus's doing. He was used to it. He had expected to take the aspirin but Jess stepped in to relieve the pain for him instead.

"Bless you, Jess," Robert said, leaning back and closing his eyes, but only allowing himself to do it for a moment. The relief was heavenly. He realized as she drew off the pain that he couldn't remember now when he'd actually gotten the headache but he certainly had been carrying it longer than tonight. Tonight, the pain had only deepened.

"Jess, we both know my energy is seriously depleted," he said. "The issue is that we are very seriously short staffed in healers right now. Several are already pulling double shifts. I have a couple new ones starting next week, so all I have to do is to make it another week, and we'll be fine."

He knew the reality was that he could not go another full week without sleep, but he couldn't guarantee that he would have any chance to sleep unless he had more help to cover the night shifts. He could tell that nitwit Prewitt she would have to cover the Ministry for a couple nights, but St. Mungos was another matter.

Jess sighed " I agree, Both Khaat and I have been helping as much as we can and those new healers would help a lot, if you need help training them I'd be glad to help." she said finishing drawing his headache away. Moving around to face him she folded her arms across her chest. " I'll explain it to Jack but I agree she needs to be completely sure, we wouldn't stop them knowing that they have a biological mother out there, whether she wants contact or not" Jess said.

Jack returned and walked into the office, Seeing Robert drinking the coffee he relaxed and sat down in a chair facing Roberts desk to listen to Jess talk. "of course we'd wait as long as she needed." Jack said looking at Jess who looked at Robert. " really, your that understaffed?" Jack asked " whats the hold up with new healers?" he asked " is Prewitt not authorizing them or something?" he wanted to know.

"No, no," Robert told Jack. "As my gran would say, you're mixing your peacocks with your pickle barrels. In other words, you're trying to mix up two entirely unrelated things. Prewitt is the Minister of Magic. I'm sure she doesn't believe she needs a healer. But, yes, St. Mungos is short. We've had a couple leave, one is out on maternity leave as of two nights ago, and of course Jess and Khaat have been pulling their share of shifts but they've both been out the last couple days on medical leave. And--if I'm not mistaken, you're all scheduled to go to Greece tomorrow, are you not?" He took a sip of his coffee, enjoying the flavor and hoping it refueled him for awhile.

"Look, I can manage for the next couple of nights. The Ministry might have to do without me for a day or two, and that leaves me with only St. Mungo to deal with while you're all gone. And I'm sure that when you and Khaat are back on duty again, that will free me up just a wee bit to help me over the hump of the remaining few days til we get the new healers on board. They are very experienced, and they are friends of Lee Shepherd. I don't think you've met Lee, but he's a good friend of mine that works in the American magical government. He knew healers who were unhappy in their posts, and I was unhappy because I needed healers. So, it seems that if I can last one more week somehow, then all will be right with the world again--if Kate doesn't divorce me by then."

"And, as I said, I'll tell you what Hazel says the very moment I know."

Jack and Jess chuckled at Roberts words about Kate divorcing him for being away for so long " I'm sure she'll understand" Jess said " yeah, after what happened with James, both Khaat and my self could use this break." she glanced at Jack who was smiling to her. " I know what your thinking and you can stop, rest and recovery." Jess told Jack.

"awe, thought it was fun too." he said making Jess sigh and shake her head in disbelief. Jack chuckled " just think of what we might have waiting when we come home." at those words from Jack Jess smiled " and if not we could try for our own." now at those words Jess blushed. "oh right I see your point, if I was a healer I'd certainly help but unfortunately I'm just a werewolf."

Robert laughed at Jack's awkwardness still about certain topics.

"You need to get him to lighten up, Jess," Robert laughed. "I am a healer, Jack. I have figured out by now how we get all those babies. Jess, why don't you explain it to him, and I'll go downstairs and see if Hazel is awake? You all would like to be parents yet tonight if I can manage it. But my pillow is calling me, and I'd like to get home." He stood up and picked up his coffee cup. He didn't know how long this conversation would be, but regardless, he wasn't doing it without coffee. "If I run out of coffee, I'm going to send the cup back up. Refill it and bring it back if I send it, would you? I'd appreciate it." He went to the door and looked back at them.

"Understand that as much as you want to be parents, I want Hazel to do whatever she believes is the right thing for her and her children," he said gently. "That has to be my priority first. If she decides to surrender them, then we'll take it from there." He turned and went downstairs to talk to Hazel.
