Cassabian’s looks spoke for themselves. As fortune had it, he was similar in looks to his brothers and at a first glance it was hard to tell him apart from any of them. But being similar didn’t exactly mean same. One that knew any of the three brothers knew exactly how to tell them apart and not only by their behaviour. The one thing that would tell Cassabian apart was his look. Not his eyes as he shared the same deep blue colour and eye shape with the others but the way he looked, intensively and almost possessively: there was nothing to go wrong. The rest: tall, dark haired, athletic, altogether he could be considered quite the handsome kind of man.
His style of dress, however, was somehow his own even though it could be everyone’s. He never cared much about fashion. That much that his style could be mistaken by a clumsy pick of clothes most of them casual. Most of the times a jacket and a pair of jeans would do the trick.
PERSONALITY | ......If only the hat had mentioned a house for people who felt a bit queasy, that would have been the one for him |
From a very early age, Cassabian knew he was different. And to add a bit more despair to the picture he was treated differently. He was never certain if his difference was to his circumstances of birth or just fate mocking him, but for as long as he can remember he had a speech problem. Over the years he overcame most of it but not completely as a lisp currently remains as he speaks. That was, however, a personal achievement he reached alone as he never found much support on the people who were closer to him (with only a few exceptions). He was constantly put aside by his parents and Cassabian couldn’t help but be angry at them for what they did, to blame them for ignoring him when he had so many times asked for their help. But he never showed it, at least not at the beginning. Deep inside he dreamed of that one day they would realize they were acting wrongly and would come to him to say something less accusative. As that never happened, Cassabian looked for ways to unload all those feelings before exploding and he found it eventually: music. There would be nothing in the world Cassabian would have in a higher pedestal more than his music, that little time filled with sound and song that was not imperfect but just right, the only way he had of self expression. But he dared to share it with no one, not only because he was rather shy about it – which he was actually – but because it was the most personal thing he held dear to him and he couldn’t have it spoiled as all the rest.
HISTORY | ..................Hey! My eyes aren't 'glistening with the ghosts of my past'! |
Early Years:
Cassabian doesn’t know when it started. Or if there has ever been a time when that wasn’t a constant in his life: first the uncontrollable stutter and then the lisp that never left him no matter how much he tried. Life was hard for a kid that stuttered, always being mocked by everyone, laughed at, awkwardly imitated as if he was doing it on purpose. But it was even harder when he noticed his parents started putting him aside considering him defective. Eventually the major stutter started wearing off over the years with the help of his brother Shylock. But there was always the lisp, the hissed words and the wheezes; Cass could never correct that.
Hogwarts Years:
The entrance in Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry upon the arrival of the acceptance letter was both a blessing and a curse. The blessing part stood for the fact that he could be away from all the rejections his parents gave him for most of the year for the following seven years as he had barely spent an holiday outside of school. The curse, however, was the fact that he couldn’t pronounce spells correctly which caused a major destruction around him every time he would put his wand on the movement. On the other hand, he was rather good at classes that didn’t need any sort of spells like herbology and divination. Of course, those were activities that weren’t worthy of any ovation back home.
As years went, Cassabian retreated to his own little world. It wasn’t easy for him at first but he made some friends in school that helped out eventually, but he still couldn't let go of the repressed feelings he had spinning inside of him. That was when music gained importance. Cassabian had taught himself the basis on playing several instruments back home, using the time he used to spend alone in his bedroom with his parents caring of what he was doing, but his talents grew over the years he spent in Hogwarts.
Around his fifth year, Cassabian learned about silent magic and the moment he learned how to do it that was the first time he had ever cast a spell exactly how he wanted to do it. He couldn’t keep his excitement and everyday from then on he would learn more and more how to control such powers. For once he was genuinely happy! And for the first time in his life he saw something creeping in his parent's eyes that he has never seen when they looked at him. But that was his time to ignore them. How could he forget the way he was treated all those years? That was his time to be disappointed on them for only seeing him when he was shinning and not when he was down as any parents should.
After Hogwarts:
The first thing Cassabian did the year he left school was move out from his parents. He rented a place for a while and started working at a shop at Diagon-Alley to have enough for his rent. He wasn’t completely happy that way, however, but he was still rather lost on what he wanted to do with the rest of his life so for the few years that followed he started experimenting other jobs here and there. But paying the bills wasn't easy and at some point in the years that followed he tried to perform a couple of covers from other musician's songs in the streets to gain a few extra coins to help out. Still, he hadn't yet played anything that was his, even though he had a few songs of his own completely written.
