GENERAL APPEARANCE:
If one is aware of Monroe, or possibly Cassabian, the most striking thing about Shylock will be his hair and eyes. All three boys are identical in every other way. They are even of a height.
It was a mix between the events of his sixth year, which left him underweight and looking out of place in any case, and the desire to simply distinguish himself from the rest of the family that first caused him to start dying his hair. He's simply never given it up, although he changes the colour. If he needs to seem less wild, he'd rather go blond than back to natural.
His eye injury is the result of a stray hex.
Shylock has two modes of dress:
1. Loose, black, comfortable. Jeans, t-shirts, knits. Things he wears at home and to pop down the shops. Not for being seen in.
2. Dress up. Tight. Sparkly. Anything that seems way to kitsch to even exist. Fur. Chains. Leather. Things with spikes on. He likes being shocking.

PERSONALITY:
Like all his siblings, Shylock is slightly dysfunctional. In his case, it takes the form of attempting to bury a highly sensitive personality beneath a façade of indifference. This creates an inner turmoil that results in the occasional emotional outburst whenever he becomes overwhelmed.
Even putting on his act, Shylock is very intense. His natural state is passion, about whatever he's concerned with at that moment. Women apparently interpret this as sensitivity. It isn't, but that doesn't stop Shylock taking advantage of the attention he receives as a result.
Shylock is by far the most friendly of the elder three Ashcroft siblings. Monroe learns about people like a scientist studying an insect. Destrey only wants to play with people until she breaks them. Shylock likes games too, but he wants everyone to enjoy the game. Pleasing others is probably one of his biggest motivations.

EARLY YEARS:
Being only three months older than Destrey meant that Shylock spent much of his early life even more neglected than the rest of his siblings, as she monopolised everyone's attention.
He became the most independent and introverted of the Ashcroft children, spending the majority of his time wandering the Hall's farmland. He didn't begin spending significant time with Destrey until Monroe enlisted him to watch her when he was nine.
HOGWARTS YEARS:
Hogwarts was never about learning for Shylock. His job was always going to be to keep Destrey in line. Initially, the idea was to keep her from doing anything untoward at all, but Destrey was just as devious as her brothers and she'd already had two years practice at getting around Shylock.
In their junior years, she merely started rumours about him. People would look at him askance and Shylock would have no idea why. She started blackmailing him in third year. He always shadowed her, so she used their time together to tell him all the horrid things she'd thought up and how was he going to stop her? But maybe he could mitigate the damage if he joined her... And of course, Shylock would be the one who got caught for those shenanigans. He'd be surprised if he didn't break the school's record for detentions achieved by one person from all that.
Fifth year was when they killed the unicorn. Shylock did not want to kill a unicorn. Destrey wanted its blood to overcome the Green Itch. He knew if he didn't help her, especially after she'd asked, she'd still do it and do it the most gruesome way possible just to spite him.
And sixth year. That was when he had a nervous breakdown. Trying to keep a rein on Destrey - thank Merlin she decided to focus on that one Gryffindor - while freaking out about NOT getting used as a lab rabbit in potions led to a lack of appetite that went on for half the year before anyone noticed. He was eventually found passed out in the dorm bathroom after heaving up his guts, at least that's what it felt like.
ADULTHOOD:
He's only been out of school two years, so Shylock hasn't had much time to do anything. He still vacillates between bothering Monroe and keeping close eye on Destrey. He's at a loose end and hasn't really considered living for himself yet.
