New Year News

It's been a big year for PA, we've had a boom in our members, then lost most of them, then gained a whole new era ((Here's to hoping this one dies soon)) We've reached a very dramatic phase, pretty much all Harry Potter-ness has left the site, and been replaced by fast cars, big guns, and other muggle ****. I figured i'd give you a small recount on the times.
In April, a stunning young lad going by the name of Jess joined PA, at this time it was flourishing, with plenty of decent, HP loving people. At this time Andrian Potter, and Sophia Granger were about to plunge into Marital bliss. One nice long wedding later ((Probably the only successful wedding on PA so far)) and strong bonds were forged. Soon after Dae died, i think he was on the side of good then, good friends with the gang, he did come back soon after, but i beleive a small part of Dae died along with him that day, with the development that he was now a major prick at some points, and a very odd person. What followed was a time of small turmoil, with a pair of our members ((Betsy Parquette, and Piper)) branching off to make their own Harry Potter site, this was followed by the less common appearence of them, until they disappeared for good, never to be see on a regular basis again. Then came a moment of sadness as Alesy and AJ split up, one of the long founded couples of PA i think. What followed was a long period of Alesy being see with less & less frequency, until sometime mid-may, she left the site. After this the site was very silent, until, a several new members joined the site. This was, unbenknownst to the members, the begining of the end of an era. Elizabeth Potter was one such new member, arriving on our doorstep and claiming she was pregnant, having been raped by Draco malfoy. This was the start of people making their own NPCs that really piss people off. She caused more than a few arguments of ethics this one did, and told the people with the Potter surname, that she was their relative, and that everone of the potters, were related. The result of her arrival was the birth of her two sons, Daryl, and Daniel, ((****, i think i screwed that up. What an uncle i am)) two more of the NPCs, and that's where it really began. Nikki Granger was one of the new members. She was the girlfriend of Andrian in real life, and him being with Soph online did not agree with her. With the iron law of a woman, she put her foot down and demanded Soph and Andrian filed for divorce, when they did split up, it was, one of, probably the sadest break of PA that has ever occured. Soph then went missing for awhile, and Andrian became slightly depressed, changing everything to sadness, and always being pissed off at the world. Jst after, the wedding of sweethearts Mariana Diggory, and Jess Potter was announced. The wedding, sadly went nowhere to plan. There were people in the wedding party walking from one end of the chapel to the other in the middle of the ceremony, because his girlfriend was chucking a tantrum. A second ceremony was attempted, but it too ended in vain. More people joined PA after this, and the model era came in. All the avatars, sigs, and other things seemed to have everything in them, other than Harry Potter. All the RP was jam packed with everything... OH... other than Harry Potter. And for awhile the site became much too dramatic, with pregancies, people breaking up and then finding partners 2 days later, who they broke up with soon after anyway, and alot of our site members leaving. It really lost it's touch basically, and it completely lost my interest mid-august. I tried to get back in, but every time i came back, it found myself more bored then last time. With the site becoming everything but Harry Potter, in my opinon, it died, with almost everyone falling under the material clutch. Even the admins lost their touch. There were a few attempts to bring it back, and change it, but nothing worked. And now, just before the New Year, i've returned. The site is still dead if you ask me. After checking all the active members sigs and avatars, i found about 3, myself included, that were completely Harry Potter. And when i check the roleplay, pretty much none of it is duelling, or anything magical like that. Any travelling is done by cars, with the rare exception of apparation.
So, in my conclusion, since i've been here, PA has changed alot. And in my opinion, it's been for the worse, and it's made the site into one of the worst Harry Potter ones ((But one of the best RP ones)) on the net.

But its not nice, its insultive (to me too ='() AND IT DOESN'T EVEN SAY HAPPY NEW YEARS!! So don't call it, New year news, more like.. End of year ranting.

Anyways, i agree with you in some parts, I liked the site much more before.. Although it is more organized now. Before people had no face claims, character applications, we didn't even have a plot for god sakes. People posted one liners.. etc. But their sense of fun is gone.

I agree with you on the million of NPC things, its annoying. And theres far too much drama, everyone breaking up with each other, then taking it so seriously. Its just RP .

And in all that recount of PA since January (25 lines!) IM NOT INCLUDED IN ONE!!! I mean, i have twice as many posts as all of you and am the best admin >.< And then you say "The Admins have lost their touch" I have? Really???? After you and Gin left at Summer i was doing all the work until I had this brilliant idea to promote Jemma, who's done most of the work since. I mean you can say that to Sue and Andrian, who both do work once in a blue moon, but seriously..

I don't particularly agree with the fact that it died though.. You werent here last month, we posted nearly as much as we did in May, which was like the peak of activeness in PA. Its died out slightly since then, but I think its only because of Christmas and new years, I haven't been on much myself because of them. So I'm hoping it'll be active again at January.

Yeah some new members are annoying yes, but if they didn't come, the site would be dead, as all the old ones left. You shouldn't hate them just cause they don't know you =\

So the face claims.. Go to Any Harry potter Roleplaying site and check their avatars, who doesn't have one? Its on all sites! I don't think its the 'HP magic' we lost, but more like our organization and sense of fun. Its too serious here now. I just joke with someone once, and everyone gets under the impression we're fighting... Like seriously, have some fun people! I think this is the main reason you liked the site before Jess, people had more fun, weren't as serious or sensitive as they are now.

Another thing we lost is the realistic roleplaying. Like seriously, now most of the roleplay is weird. People using telepathy is the most annoying, i mean when since have wizards been able to use that? And when I say anything, they just get pissed off and threaten to leave the site, etc. Now like half the members seem to be fortunetellers, dragon riders, blah blah. Its so god **** unrealistic.

Anyways, I think your just missing the old site too much Jess, that your overlooking the plus factors now. We post longer posts, its more organized, it looks.. better, i still think we can improve on the background/banner/layout slightly which we will do after New years. It has improved, but it just needs those members back, or new good roleplayers, to be awesome. I think we also need a resorting of admins.. though i wont name who =P. Lastly, when you want to make these kind of threads, which you insult people (though i agree with most things you said about them =P), don't add names or anything.. its far to insultive.

Just to tell you, i don't hate everyone. I just don't like their method of RP. And it's from April. Also, i just think that we don't need but ugly celebs in our avatars, we need HP stuff. We didn't need celebs when i joined, why do we need them now? Also, i didn't mean in adminish stuff. I meant that they've stopped fighting for the HP theme of the site. If no one wants it to be a Harry Potter site, we might as well change the name to drama showcase, Or sooky la la land. Or RP mania. But it is a Harry Potter site, and i think it's time we act like one.

Yeah i think its time we act like a HP site, but not in the way ur saying.. I like the celebrity claim thing, I don't see anything wrong with it. I think we should stop the stupid way some people are roleplaying right now, and start roleplaying more realistically and in a more Harry potter theme.

For the activeness, it IS one liner site, what do you expect? I don't see many formation sites around so not many people join them. It's not something to get mad about, at least we have the active members we do, right? There are a lot of NPC [whatever that spands for], but it's not like we can do anything about that, or someone would've by now.

Jess, I gotta say, Darren's right. You didn't add him in any there and he listed all of the things he added onto the site to make it just as good as it now; nevermind the millions of layouts that have been tried. You didn't mention Jemma either. Wow. I disgaree fully when you say the admins lost there touch. Some might have lots there touch but we do have at least two very good ones that have kept the site going to where it is now. Not to be rude, but ever think of not complaining in a way and helping? You are an admin, after all, and you're not one of the two I just mentoned.

At the moment everyone is away, look at the Away thread and you'll see all of the excuses people have in real life that are pulling them away from their inactiveness. I agree with Darren once again, Christmas and New Years is making the time people have more limited, so it hasn't died, tis' merley just running slow for the mean time. If you're as you say "bored" no one's keeping you here. I don't want you to go and I doubt others do either, but really dude, are you just not talking to the right people? In the dance you were talking to Mari who's currently getting job experience. That's your fault, not anyone else's. Set yourself up for an easy road to boredem and no posting to anyone but yourself.

Coming to the point of graphics. Since the face claims have been put up, the avatars and MOST of the signatures have been changed to the play by that is being used. Just until a couple days ago I had a Sophia Bush one here but i'm getting new ones so their down. If i'm correct, you could look at yours and it's not HP. Your icon is South Park & your sig is HP.. in a way of roleplaying, so i'll give you that. But still, don't go bashing things you are not doing yourself. Please & thanks. I stay away from the c-box myself because it is a bit tense in their often but the ones who do like it fun and less tense are around less... they're what makes that part fun.

The next thing i'm not going to get into because i'm not and was never for all of that out-of-HP roleplaying. If it's a HP site, none of that should be in there. All i'm saying for that.

xD Okay, had to laugh at the fact of longer posts. He's right, look at the threads with Darren and Sue, Sue and myself or Darren and myself and there are longer ones. I haven't really been stalking threads but so if anyone else is doing longer posts, woot! Don't do TOO much with the background again, it's always so confusing when everything gets switched around. If you do, i'm asking you nicely do it bits at a time for the slow ones like myself. xP It's like the new year with the site; old with the old and in with the new. Not a thing you can change, just something you adapt too.

Well, for one If you'd read my slightly smaller post, i did not in ANY way mean that the admins weren't doing a good job admining. What i meant is they also seem to have lost the Harry Potterness, and seem to be doing all the glitz and glam.
When i said the site died, i did not mean members way, i meant theme way. As a harry Potter site, it's dead. As a member, organisation, and RP theme, it's one of the best you'll find. I know alot of people are away, and i don't care. I still think that they are to material.
And my avatar is Harry Potter, it's him in South Park fashion, it has the scar, the hair, and the glasses. You can tell it's meant to be HP, and i did include myself.
Just for the record, i don't care about it being a one liner site.
And as you say, i didn't add Darren and all his marvelous things, but that's because if i had, i'd be here all night.
Don't you dare have a go at me for not doing as much as the other admins. In one day i did more work then you did in the entire time you were an admin. I work mainly on the things that not all people can see; the teachers lounge, the gryffindor common room, 12 grimmauld place, the couples spot. Just because you don't see what i do, doesn't mean i don't do it. Because while Jem and Darren are busy working together, complaining we do nothing, we're sleeping, or at school, or at work. We didn't make the time zones, it's not our fault that at 5 in the arvo here it's early morning there.
When i say i'm bored, does that nescessarily mean that i'm complaining about PA? No. It doesn't. If i say i'm bored, it's because i have nothing to do at home, sure, ti'd be nice if people came online on PA, but as i said before, i didn't make time zones, it's not the members' fault they're not online at midnight, just because i'm bored, when i'm probably not on the site. I never said i was bored with the site, i'd just lost interest in it, and i did leave. I know you wouldn't notice because apparently all i do is complain, and never help.

I so agree with what Jess said in the last post.

Firstly, when I'm online then the admins say that there's no work to do and says to come online at a time which is so impossible for me. And even if I try to come on at that time, by that time they finish the work. And complain that I was sleeping. Hello?? Everyone ha s a personal life & problems. The timezones are really bad. All the admins except Darren goes to sleep at the time when I come. It's not an abuse, it's just the fact. So it's the blame on Timezone.

And about couples... I'm really speechless. There have been numerous break ups. And what is much more annoying, is that's taken seriously. And the girl leaves the site. Or the boy. Like, what the hell is this? If you are dating in RP, it's in RP. Not seriously people.

I also agree about not allowing Telepathy. And Twilight Vampires. This is an HP site. Not a Twilight one. In HP Vampires does not shine in Sun, they DIE (i think). We should have a Rule about this. And another thing, maybe I'm saying for the thousandth time. We should have a RP post limit. Like how the hell would you feel if you write in 400 words and get a reply in 10 words? It's annoying. I don't really mean that we should have something like 500 or 600 words. But at least 30 should be the least.

I also feel that Celebrity Claim is nice. In that way you know how the people you're RPing with looks like in RP. Otherwise you have to go all way along to their Character Application to see the description. And all celebrity claim should be either in the member's avatar or the signature.

I would also like to say a last thing. About not abusing any admin (by an admin). I admit that I really don't work. At all. And I know I won't be able to either. That's the why I stepped down from the Head Admin's position. The person who is in that position deserves it. But please, **** up. no one has got really any right to state the fact a hundred of times that I don't work. But if you don't know, it was Andrian and me who made PA. I didn't want to say that. But if PA wasn't here then probably the admins would not have been here either. So here, I'd like some eensie weensie bit credit myself. Maybe I'm not the Head Admin, and I shouldn't have said these things. So I'm sorry. Really very sorry.

& since I have next to no time right now i'm just going to say one thing to Jess' post.

To that, did you even know why I was taken off admins so fast each time I was put on? I didn't ask to be admin either time. I came on like I did every single friggen day and found out I was. The first time Darren de-ranked me before anyone else was on and the second time I deranked myself. Reason enough at to why I didn't do anything? At those times I never wanted for a second to be admin.

Ohh.. Long posts..I read it all.. its all ranting. So im just not gonna say anything except,PA rocks! It can be improved in some ways but its not as bad as Jess points it out to be

I won't bother reading all this since I know Jess's point from before.

I agree some things need to be changed.

I think too this face claim has made a lot of mess and re-organize on PA.

As for RP I prefer not to give my opinion.
