((yesssss))
Lily was left in this horrible lurch that came from the release of ignorance, and try as she might... she couldn't remember what Kit looked like. It was that horrible effect of fearing you might not see someone ever again - they immediately began to fade, almost as punishment for any moment you ever took them for granted.
Taking people for granted. Hm. She must have collected enough points to level up by now.
Mesut moved away, in hot pursuit of more alcohol, and she turned her eyes to him. What was happening to the world? One day she woke up and suddenly she was the one that was somehow put together, the one capable of surviving a situation without turning to lies or substances. She had so much practice in falling apart that it was a wonder the muscle memory didn't pervade and take her down.
But that life had given her nothing. And if she had ruined her life with her apathy, she would be damned if it hurt another person.
Her arms crossed. "My addictions counselor says turning to alcohol only delays whatever feelings you're afraid of." She spoke almost pointedly, the consonants in 'addictions counselor' biting, wanting him to know she had meant it when she said she would try to be okay for Kit. And now, she needed him to be okay for her.
