"Excellent, Miss, uh... excellent work!" Professor Lucretia tried to conceal the fact that she didn't know the Ravenclaw's name. "You're answer was exactly correct - 10 points for Ravenclaw!" She smiled enthusiastically, but her excitement fell at Darren's comment. She didn't much like being referred to as "the teacher", but more so disliked words that weren't encouraging. Rather than address him, however, she chose to reamin nonchalant, and continue with the lesson.

"Now, the Ministry awards each magical creature with a 'danger rating'. Turn to page seven in your textbooks and observe the chart:

"Dragons, of course, have a rating of XXXXX. Flobberworms, on the other hand, have a rating of X. Can anyone give me examples of other creatures, and their ratings?"

Davina thought hard, she must be able to think of one. Suddenly, one popped into her head, and her hand shot up into the air.

Professor Lucretia smiled as the Ravenclaw student raised her hand, waiting to answer. "No need to raise your hands for this one, anyone who wants to answer, go ahead!"

"Actually, Mr... is it Mr. Potter?" Professor Lucretia paused, waiting for acknowledgement that she had gotten his name right. "The Ministry of Magic actually gives Hippogriffs a rating of XXX; good guess though, 5 points for Gryffindor!" She glanced around the room at the other students, "Would any one else like to make a guess?"

Darren scribbled this all down on a piece of parchment, smiling. He was starting to like the new professor, she gave more information then other teachers. When he finished his notes, he thought of her question. "Umm the Giant spiders, or Acromantulas" he said, thinking about the last time he had met them in the forbidden forest. "They would probably be classified XXXXX"

Davina spoke up, as she was sure she knew a couple.
"Centaurs and Merpeople would be classified as XXXX under this rating." she said, positive that this was right. The centaurs and merpeople were really interesting, she knew their beast/being history quite well.

"Well done, both of you! Take another 5 points for Slytherin, and another 5 points for Ravenclaw." Professor Lucretia grinned at the class, glad that she had students who were willing to answer her questions. "Now that we've gone over the Ministry's rating, let's quickly discuss exactly what the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures does. Does anyone know what sorts of things this department handles?"

Davina's hand was up in the air in a second. She knew everything here, and was sure that she knew more than Darren, and they had got the same number of points so far.

Professor Lucretia smiled at the Ravenclaw student. In reaction to her raised hand, she pointed and said, "Yes?"
