Welcome to Potter's Army

We have been a Harry Potter Roleplaying site since 2007. If you're an old member we hope you come check out the discord link provided below. And if you're looking for a new roleplaying site, well, we're a little inactive. But every once and a while nostalgia sets in and a few of our alumni members will revisit the old stomping grounds and post together. Remember to stay safe out there. And please feel free to drop a line whenever!

What’s Happening?
Since every few months or so a few of our old members get the inspiration to revisit their old stomping grounds we have decided to keep PA open as a place to revisit old threads and start new ones devoid of any serious overarching plot or setting. Take this time to start any of those really weird threads you never got to make with old friends and make them now! Just remember to come say hello in the chatbox below or in the discord. Links have been provided in the "Comings and Goings" forum as well as the welcome widget above.

Introduction to CoMC - Lesson 1 - Page 2 Empty Re: Introduction to CoMC - Lesson 1

An expression of surprise covered Professor Lucretia's face as she observed how politely the students raised their hands, and waited to be called on prior to answering. "Alright, you..." She said pointing to the boy. "Darren?" Uncertainty rang through her voice, although she was relatively sure that was his name. "Darren, why don't you go ahead and answer, and then why don't you," she now pointed to the girl, "Answer after him." She smiled kindly, curious what their answers would be.

Davina was disappointed she couldn't answer, but he had put his hand up first, so it was expected. She just had to hope that he got it wrong. At least she knew the boys name now. Darren, Darren. She was determined not to forget it again. She waited for Darren to answer.

Darren was surprised the professor had called him by his first name, and even more surprised she knew his name. Teachers uaually called people by their last names. He shrugged, he wasn't entirely sure about the answer, but he'd give it a go. "Well Dragons, would probably be in the beasts department."he said.

Davina sighed, knewing that Darren had got it right, though doubted that he knew the reason behind it. He didn't seem like the kind of boy to study and read around the subject a lot, like she did. Still, maybe the teacher would want another example. She kept her hand up, incase she did.

[[OOC: Btw, I'm going to try & do this without looking things up online, to test my actual knowledge, for now. I might need to start later though, as Davina is supposed to be really clever.]]

"Well done! Dragons do fall under the beast division - they even have their own category, Dragon Research and Restraint Bureau. Most, if not all, of the creatures we study will fall under this category. Ten points to Slytherin for correctly answering. Now..." Turning to the Ravenclaw girl, she said, "Why don't you try to name a magical creature that falls into one of the other categories; either being or spirit?"

[NOTE: I just figured that I'd add that I plan to wait until the lesson is finished before posting how many points everyone has earned in total Razz ]

Davina was glad to be asked, and wanted to give a thorough answer.
"Well, creatures such as ghosts or poltergeists would come under the spirit catagory, and creature's such as humans and goblins are classified as beings." Davina said, pretty sure that her examples were right.

Darren rolled his eyes at Davina, sighing. She always had to show off didn't she? "The teacher asked for one example" he told her

Davina completely ignored Darren's comment. She knew he was just jealous because she was cleverer than him. She was a Ravenclaw, and he was a Slytherin, it was kind of expected. Davina was a generally clever student though, quite well-rounded. School was the one thing in life that she was good at, excluding Quidditch.
Davina was sure the teacher wouldn't mind her giving two examples of each division, there was nothing wrong with it, she was just trying to be helpful and show that she was clever. She couldn't let the teacher think that she was just as clever as Darren, she had a reputation to uphold. She was the clever one. It was all she had.
