Introduction to CoMC - Lesson 1

Professor Claire Lucretia stood by the edges of the Forbidden Forest, eagerly awaiting the arrival of her students for their first lesson of Care of Magical Creatures. Every few seconds she glanced in the castle's general direction, wondering when the first students would make their way onto the grounds.

Darren walked out of the castle gladly, he hated lessons inside, he always felt suffocated, expecially as there was such a nice weather outside. So really, he was glad his next class was care of magical creatures, not his favirote one, but whatever. He walked swiftly towards the forest, trying to look for the new teacher. Spotting a person near the edge of the Forbidden forest, he made his way there. "Hello professor' he said when he arrived, he wanted to make a good impression on the new teacher.

Davina was glad that it was Care of Magical Creatures. She loved all lessons, but here she didn't have to catch up in, as the Professor had only just started lessons. Davina walked down through the grounds, wondering where the teacher would be, there wasn't a designated classroom for CoMC, like other classes. She saw a woman standing next to that Slytherin boy, oh what was his name? He was the Head Boy, she really should know...
"Hi miss, hi..." Davina said, as she approached the two. She trailed off towards the end. She had her textbook in her hand, and her wand in her pocket.

Hearing a sound, Darren turned to see who the newcomer was, and frowned. Davina, she was his friend, to some extent, but bloody annoying. "Hey" he greeted her boredly, dropping his bag to the ground. He turned back to the teacher, he really hoped she woould be better than there previous one, who had disappeared during their first lesson.

Professor Lucretia grinned eagerly as a few students approached her. She couldn't contain her enthusaism, and with an elated breath she said, "Hello students! I'm Claire Lucretia - that is, Professor Lucretia, you're new Care of Magical Creatures professor!" She scrutinized the two students for a moment; the one she knew to be Head Boy, the other a Prefect from Ravenclaw.

A cool autumn breeze flew by, and she couldn't help but add, "It's a fine day today, isn't it? Perfect for being outdoors. Unfortuently, we won't be dealing with any actual magical creatures today - just an introduction to the class."

Davina listened to the teacher's every word, and was slightly disappointed, as she liked dealing with magical creatures, but then again, she loved the theory of it too. She knew how imporant it was. An overview of the class, and maybe the course too, would be very usefull, she thought, incase she was ill again or something, and she missed future lessons. She got out some parchment quickly, incase she needed to make some notes.

Darren scanned the surroundings while the teacher talked, looking for some glimpse of a creature they would be learning about while listening to her introduction uninterestedly. He didnt say anything, but frowned when she said they wouldn't be dealing with magical creatures today. That seemed quite boring, but he didnt complain. Following Davina, he took his care of Magical creatures book out, as well as a quill and a piece of parchment for notes.

Professor Lucretia could tell that the students were disappointed they wouldn't be dealing with magical creatures today. Her smile faded slightly as she noticed the boy's frown; however, the students respectfully got out their parchment and supplies. Glad the students didn't riot, she decided to start the lesson. "If you turn to page 5 in your textbook, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, you will learn that the Ministry of Magic department in charge of magical creatures is the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures." She paused, giving the students a moment to turn to that page in their textbook. "On this page, you will also learn that this department has three divisions: the Beast Division, the Being Division, and the Spirit Division."

Glancing around at the class, she asked, "Can anyone give me an example of a magcial creature, and tell me which division it would be under?" When no one responded, she smiled and added, "Don't be afraid to get the wrong answer! You'll get points for effot."

[NOTE: From this point on, anyone who joins in the class, can you just RP/reply as though you've already entered? As opposed to posting: "Blah walked up to the class." Just pretend you've already posted that and jump into the lesson Wink

Darren opened his book to the page, fumbling slightly as he had a lot to carry. And scanned the page quickly, paying attention to the teacher at the same time. Looking up as she asked the question, he raised his hand tentatively.

Davina didn't even have to open her book to answer, as she had read this a few nights ago. She opened her book respectfully, but then put her hand up in the air, hoping that the teacher would choose her.
