The Ministry of Magic building collapsed this morning during the scheduled press conference of Gideon Pierce. Pierce had called a press conference with an agenda that was to include updates of the marriage law, updates of the new magical creatures definition, and concerns about national security.
Pierce appeared on the press conference platform wearing the robes of the Minister of Magic. After covering a couple of agenda points, he announced that Minister of Magic Robert Lupin had resigned to his continuing health issues. Pierce declared himself the new Minister, at which point Minister Lupin revealed himself, stripped Pierce of the Ministerial dress robes and fired Pierce.
Pierce appeared to be angry and admitted to the forgeries and treacheries that he has long been suspected of. Officials attempted to contain Pierce, but Pierce disapparated and escaped, but not before threatening to remain in Ministry headquarters to gain enough information and artifacts to take control of the wizarding world.
Ministry spokespersons admit that is when Minister Lupin decided to cast a defense spell. They are strongly reassuring the public that the spell first removed all governmental information, artifacts and assets to safekeeping before dismantling the physical structure of the Ministry. Spokespersons say Lupin cast the spell to insure that Pierce could not further inhabit the Ministry halls or do further damage to the citizens of the wizarding world.
At this point, St. Mungos reports that there were no known fatalities or serious injuries in the incident. Ministry officials have sealed the Ministry building to prevent injury and reassure the public that Minister Lupin has resumed his duties and promises to swiftly "put all of Mr. Pierce's injustices to rights."
Gideon Pierce is now being aggressively sought by the Department of Law Enforcement to answer for a long litany of charges, all of which will be detailed in the coming days. It is this reporter's hopes that Mr. Pierce is caught quickly before he decides to resurface elsewhere.
