Since every few months or so a few of our old members get the inspiration to revisit their old stomping grounds we have decided to keep PA open as a place to revisit old threads and start new ones devoid of any serious overarching plot or setting. Counseling (Attempt #3) Empty Counseling (Attempt #3)

Post by Lucien Holt Thu Sep 25, 2014 12:14 am

The third meeting of the day came around, and Keiran was just glad that the next one wasn't about the marriage ordeal. None of that sort would go well, he was afraid, because he didn't know enough about it to actually give any decent advice. He was just lucky that it wasn't singularly him that would be expected to know anything and everything about it. Besides, this one was about an apprenticeship, which he thought he had a better handle on. That said, the Ministry had given Keiran and Millie very serious directions on what they were supposed to suggest by way of apprenticeship options.

Still, it would be simpler, and Keiran was more prepared for it. In every sense of the word. If the Gryffindor they were meeting with didn't like the ones they listed - the ones Gideon wanted them to list - then he could offer her some other options. He wasn't even sure what the girl was interested in, after all. She was a seventh year, though, so it was the perfect time to find something to try out. It would look good when Clara decided she wanted to apply for a job after graduating from Hogwarts.

Opening the door, Keiran decided to leave it open so that Clara wouldn't have to knock, and returned to the couch to sit next to Millie and wait for their third and final appointment that day to arrive. It was actually lucky, he decided as he settled, that he wasn't teaching as he had been the year before. It would have been hard to start right away with the counseling, the teaching, and also dealing with the new role of Deputy Headmaster. He passed Millie a smile and handed her the page that Clara had filled out, which gave the topic she needed covered, among other things. At least they weren't going into it blind.

Clara did need counseling for apperenticeship. She wasn't sure ehat to do yet in future. She was seventh year this year and end of the year she gradeuated and she needed try find a job then. She really wasn't sure what she wanted to do yet. She know that she has to find it out soon and it was time.

Clara walked towards the room where that counseling was now held. She soon figured that is in guidance office. Girl saw that door was open there. She had no idea how this meeting will go today here. She soon reached there and then walked in.

"Hello," she said there now with smile. She wasn't sure what to else to say there now. She took a seat too even if it wasn't yet offered but she propaly still at the end needs to sit down.

Counseling (Attempt #3) Empty Re: Counseling (Attempt #3)

The end of the day was looming for the Hayes’. The afternoon had been broken up by a lesson which the blonde had gone off to teach for the benefit of her third years who were rightly dubious of the art she supplied. After a somewhat emotion-filled morning, she returned after lunch to a degree reinvigorated though that wasn’t quite what she would have called it. She was tiring now and the stray offer from a house elf for him to bring up something to drink was one that she had taken without hesitation. She eagerly took to the coffee that he brought, setting down the book she’d been sent by one of the governors to look over and decide upon whether she wanted to use or not. She liked it but had her reservations over the reliability. The coffee, she thought, would help her decide.

She savoured the cup and was between sips when Keiran came in from wherever he was. A small smile was afforded to the man and she set down her mug to make him up one of his own which she handed over, exchanging it for the sheet of paper. She scanned her eyes over it and nodded thoughtfully before sliding her bookmark into the textbook she had by the side of her. She rumbled it back into her bag and then reached back for her coffee, sipping at it while she waited for the girl. The silence between them was beginning to get to Millie but before she had a chance to offer some sort of conversation, Clara walked in.

“Hello!” The Hayes woman burst, setting down her cup on the end table, grateful for the appearance of the girl. She seemed to look a little bit lost but that was nothing, if anything, that Millie wasn’t used to by now. She’d had to deal with the same expression on the face of the man next to her, let alone the swathes of first years she’d directed to their classrooms in the last few weeks. It was almost par for the course now, despite her dismay at the fact. Swallowing, Millie looked down at the list of things they were supposed to talk about and she scowled at the page, wondering when the Ministry were going to back off.

She decided she’d let Keiran take the lead on this one. Millie had the uncomfortable feeling she’d convince the girl to take a year and go climbing in South America rather than get a job and have children like the Ministry so desperately wanted.

Keiran sent Millie a vaguely confused expression after her sudden greeting when she sent it to Clara. He was about to gesture towards the other couch, but the Gryffindor had sat down before he got the chance to. Instead, he offered a smile rather than any greeting out loud. There was no point, after all, after Millie had been so very bright in her hello.

Looking down at the form Clara had filled out, requesting a meeting, Keiran gave a nod before looking up once more. It seemed like Millie was going to let him take this meeting on, or at least let him take the lead on it. He didn't mind too much, of course, considering that he had already held two other meetings.

"So, you wrote down that you're looking for an apprenticeship," Keiran noted aloud. "It's definitely a good time to look into things like that, considering you'll have graduated soon. Now, the Ministry has organized opportunities through St. Mungo's and through the Hogwarts hospital wing if you're interested in learning about children and how to take care of them," he offered.

Of course, he had no choice but to do so since the Ministry wanted them to bring it up. That didn't mean that Keiran would ignore what the students really wanted, though. Especially now that he was in a leadership position. "However, if there is an area of study that you would prefer - Potions, Herbology, whatever interests you - we can try and help you find something through that as well."

Clara greeted back then with a smile there now and waited them to start talking. She herself really wasn't sure how to start it. She had just came here since she needed help and they offered it now here for first time ever.

She nodded her head when Keiran was now speaking about options there. She really wasn't sure what she wanted to do and these all sounded like good idea for sure. She thought some time before answering back.

"Being healer sounds good idea but I'm not sure if it's for me," she said then there now with a smile. "I like potions, herbology and DADA classes the most. But if I have to choose one then it would be herbology," she added then there now. She wasn't sure if it was enough answer.

It took all of the power within the form of the blonde Divination professor for her not to blurt out that Clara was so much better off going to university. Millie couldn’t help but shift awkwardly in her chair. She took up her coffee again and fiddled with the handle thoughtfully, trying to fill the time and the moment, not least the air between the three of them. She swallowed some of the hot drink and set the cup down before pulling her notepad back into her lap. Thus far she’d managed to draw a flower which she’d been colouring while her students had been researching during the lesson before but really, she did have opinions now. The Ministry wouldn’t win this one.

“Herbology,” she smiled approvingly and glanced at Keiran before turning her gaze back to Clara. “There are lots of different things you can do with that, of course. Potions links nicely. No potioneer is without a herbologist, after all,” Millie nibbled thoughtfully on her lower lip before moving on, adding, “and of course, if you enjoy it that’ll make figuring things out really easy, won’t it?” She smiled optimistically and reached up to rub idly at her shoulder, a rapidly forming habit, and turned her hand back after her coffee, again for something to do.

“Have you considered higher education?” She asked finally, unable to help herself any longer as she curled her hands around the mug. “It would definitely help you to get experience and so an apprenticeship of some kind would be helpful but have you thought, at all, about university? I know I regret not working hard enough to go,” she admitted, hoping to endear herself to the girl by making Clara see that her own mistakes were not worth making – especially not by someone who stood to do so much better. “I know the Ministry is going to meddle in your life and I’m sorry for it but, really, I do think it’s worth planning for the end of the law. You’re going to have to look after yourself so, I think, you should really consider getting as much experience and as much knowledge as possible.”

Clara did listen what was told her now. She kept nodding her head and also did a smile there. Awhile she talk she kept quiet. She was just so polite. She didn't want to sound rude and cut her speaking. When Melissa was done talking the it was her time to do so.

"The potioner sounds even like good idea. I could do it even if there isn't anything else what I could do," she said there now honestly. She couldn't lie about such stuff. "Probably yeah it woulf make things easy," she said and shrugged her shoulders, she wasn't sure about that what she meant exactly.

"I have thought of getting higher education for sure," she said there with a smile. "But the problem id that I'm nof sure where to go and study what exactly by now," she said there honestly ones again. "Let's hope that they in ministry won't ruin it for me with their laws and stuff like that," shd said there now honestly with a weak smile.
