Back From the Dead

"Well just so you know the offer is there on the table should you need it." Christy replied following her towards the house. "Besides if you end up getting a one way ticket to Azkaban, there will be no way that you could continue to work as the assistant director of St. Mungo's. You good and well know it. If it comes down to that you bring your family into Germany Soph! I mean it!"

They had reached the porch now and Christy was glad it was covered. It meant she could take this hood off of her head. Her curls spilled down her back and looked a tad bit wild due to the weather. "And you didn't become an Auror because you like helping people face to face more. Better than what I do for a living anyday. Trust me." She forced a smile to her face. She was glad to have a friend around.

Christy couldn't remember when the last time she had a friend to truly confide it. She also didn't know if Soph would even care to listen about her problems. Her rich girl problems as people who knew her in Germany would say.

Sophia nodded and smiled. " Thanks Christy, I'll remember that. " said Sophia softly. " But I don't think I'll ever go there, I'm not the only one who hasn't been paired off." said Sophia honestly. It was true, there were quite a few people weren't
paired off. Maybe they realized that they couldn't pair off everyone, and gave up. Sophia hoped that was the case, she hated this stupid law.

Sophia chuckled and laughed. " I don't know about that, my job can be intense at times. "said Sophia honestly. " All in all, it keeps me busy. " said Sophia softly. " Although it has died some, so I got time to myself lately. " said Sophia sighing. Sophia always buried herself in her work to keep busy, but she always done that, but she does it more than she had when she was in Hogwarts. Although Sophia thought it was how she usually was, but people said she was different.

And that's more than likely what made Christy and Sophia close. They always tended to bury themselves in whatever they were working on...well Christy up until recently had. She was finding something freeing about finally having no one to answer to but herself. Even if it was for a little while she was no longer the sweet and innocent girl who transferred in during her last year. Soph had changed too. She could tell by the way she spoke.

"I'm realizing that we need to take time for ourselves." Christy replied. "I haven't had time to myself since I returned back to Germany. Believe me all work all the time is not the way to live. But...its better than being alone. At least with work you don't think about the fact that everyone you've ever gotten close to has abandoned you." She sighed. It was truly how she felt. She had never dealt with grieving over her father before she lost Godric who was more like a twin to her than he was her cousin.

"Well if you want me to go so you can be alone I'll understand." she added looking at her long time friend.

Sophia noticed Christy changed since the last time she saw her, but then again so has she. It was crazy how a little thing called life could do that. Sophia didn't have that much life in her eyes anymore, the lost of Nikki and Andrian missing once again took the life out of her. Losing a loved one, was like your soul died along with them. It was how Sophia felt, but she was slowly getting back on her feet.

Sophia sighed. " Maybe you're right Cnisty, maybe we do need some time away from work and stuff. " said Sophia honestly. " Maybe like a vacation, yeah a vacation would be nice right now! " said Sophia smiling. It was the first real smile she done in a while, the rest were weak or fake. Maybe getting away for awhile would do some good. She honestly did need it, that was for sure.

"Why do you think I'm back here?" she asked looking at Soph. She had been kept out of the loop for the past few years so she hadn't even known of Nikki's death or Andrian's disappearance. "I might not ever go home. I think I'm doing what we call running away." She laughed a little.

"Freedom is something I have precious little of and I really don't want to give that up." Christy could feel with her on losing a part of her soul. She had lost part of hers as well. You could tell looking at her that she had a lot of pain and hate in her that wasn't there a few years before. She ran her hand through her hair.

"Tell me what all I've missed." she said sounding almost begging towards her friend, "I've been gone for so long and without any explaination other than my father was murdered and I was thrown into a positition of power that I should have never gotten the way I did."

Sophia shrugged. " I honestly don't know, to see your awesome best friend again?"Sophia asked her smirking. Sophia laughed, "I tried that once, but for some reason I'm always back here."said Sophia sighing to herself. " I guess I can't let go of the past. "said Sophia shrugging.

" I can relate to that, time is also I have very little of as well lately. " said Sophia bitterly. Sophia could tell that Christy was in alot of pain, she looked just as broken ans hurt as she was. Years of hurt and pain, left Sophia in a cold empty shell that was dark and alone.

" Well... you know about the marriage law that's going on, so that's the latest one. " said Sophia softly. " I lost my three of the four of my kids due to the green itch which was a really bad sickness like the muggle flu that went around, it made you green and lose your magic, it was horrible that happened two years ago. My sister Nikki died about three years ago, I really don't know how, I'm guessing in battle. " said Sophia swallowing a lump in her throat. "As for everyone else and Andrian, I saw Andrian a few months ago and he proposed to me before he disappeared again, as for the others I don't know. " said Sophia sighing.

Christy's heart dropped when she mentioned her losing her kids to green itch. "Oh Soph, I'm sorry to hear that." she said looking at her. She knew what green itch was because of her parents trying desperately to keep her from getting anything so horrible that would cause their precious child to lose her magic. "If I had known about them or Nikki I would have come back immediately." She could feel some tears welling up in her eyes.

Despite not knowing Soph's children very well, she did know Nikki. The girl was an absolute sweetheart and it hurt Christy to know that Soph could have went through so much loss and still survived. "How...how did you manage to go on?" she asked looking at her. She knew the answer. It wasn't because she didn't want to go on. It was more than likely the same reason she herself went on...because deep down they were survivors.

Sophia looked at her and shook her head. " It's ok Christy, you didn't know. " said Sophia softly. " No one really did until her funeral, but I saw the light leave her eyes Christy as I held her!"said Sophia as tears came down her face. " I should of been there to protect her and my kids but I failed!"said Sophia softly. " I failed Christy, I failed to keep my sister and family safe, now look at me. " said Sophia shaking. Shaking and trembling Sophia wiped her tears.

" I knew that Nikki didn't want me to cry over her and be sad, she'll want me to go on with my little. " said Sophia softly. " It was hard letting go, I still think I haven't completely. " said Sophia softly but honestly. " Once you lose a loved one l your soul dies with them and mine has multiple times. "said Sophia softly. " Just when I thought I had happiness, it was ripped away from me or disappeared so I stopped trying. " said Sophia simply.

Christy moved and hugged Sophia tightly. All the pain she was describing was what she had been feeling when she came to return to England. Everything she felt and was feeling Soph had been going through.

"There was no way that you could have prevented what happened I'm sure. I'm also sure that it isn't your fault." she replied now crying softly. "I know everything you've been saying. I've been living it myself these past few years. Part of us will never forget or let go."

Sophia shook her head. " I feel like I should of been there for them Christy, that I failed to protect them. " said Sophia softly but in a shaky voice. " I can't bare to lose anyone else in, I'm afraid to lose them. " said Sophia honestly. " That's why In don't believe in love, I just lose everything I love. " said Sophia softly. " I'm not even if I love my own half brother, I care about him and will do anything to protect him but I'm afraid if I loved him I'll , lose him. " said Sophia softly. " I know it's silly, but he's all I have now. " said Sophia.

" I used to be the one who told everyone that love is the most powerful thing in the world. " said Sophia sighing. " Now I'm the girl who doesn't believe in it, due to losing love so many times. " said Sophia softly. " I was so dumb and stupid to believe in things like that. " said Sophia honestly.
