Since every few months or so a few of our old members get the inspiration to revisit their old stomping grounds we have decided to keep PA open as a place to revisit old threads and start new ones devoid of any serious overarching plot or setting. Marriage is Murder - Page 68 Empty Re: Marriage is Murder

Post by Jessie Tyler Thu Aug 08, 2013 8:34 pm

Every one did as they were told Jess moved beside Brian as Jack slid his arms around him to hold him under his legs as well so they could port to the hospital " I'l be right back" Jess said and nodded to Jack who held him tight but not too tight as she ported them to the hospital. Cassidy stuck the light down in the ground now facing the pit Khaat was laid in and she waited for Steven to join her holding hands he ported her back to the villa where they quickly gathered the things and cleaned up by the time they left it was as if nobody had been living there. Returning Cassidy took the things back to the main house placing them away she ported back to the road side.

"Robert do you need anything else?" she said as Steven scrambled down to kneel with Michael in the pit again. Steven looked at him " the house is clean I triple checked" he said looking down at Khaat.

While everyone moved the driver and Brian and checked the house, Robert finally got a chance to go check on Khaat. Michael was deeply relieved when he saw Robert finally arrive. Robert made quick work of climbing down the rope and going to check on Khaat.

"How was she when you got here?" Robert asked Michael, touching her forehead. Michael hesitated. Robert looked up at him. There was something Michael wasn't saying.

"She was...in a lot of pain. She wasn't coping well," Michael decided to minimize things for Robert's benefit. Robert laid his hand on her shoulder.

"She's blown out her shoulder. Badly this time," Robert said. "I'm going to have to operate again or the pain will be completely intolerable. I've seen grown men not being to mentally tolerate pain from this sort of damage. That, and she's suffering traumatic shock and has been in this cold, damp pit for over 60 hours. At this point, we need to be far more concerned about the emotional trauma that she and Brian are going to have to contend with."

"How can we help, then?" Michael asked.

"We do what we always do," Robert said. "We respond as a family." He looked at Cassidy. "I'm going to have to keep them at St. Mungos at least overnight, Cassidy. Brian's leg will have to be put in a cast and we're going to have to del with making sure that we didn't miss anything with his being under that car.

"For Khaat, I have to operate. And that damage is so severe, I can barely pick up on any other injuries for her right now. I want tight security at the hospital and then we're going to have to prepare for them to come home. They're both going to need some special considerations for awhile and a lot of help. Make sure the people at the house are prepared to provide tight security at the hospital for them, including fending away the press and gently getting hospital staff to give them some space. Khaat and Brian are loved by the staff. There is always a herd when one of them is injured.

"Oh, and someone needs to, please, tell Kate that we have them and they're going to be alright. I'll need some things packed for both of them. They aren't going to be wearing these clothes home. And any personal items that they'll need."

"Can I bring them food from home?" Michael asked. "Or perhaps some sort of touches from home to help them readjust to not being in these conditions anymore?"

"As soon as they're conscious, yes," Robert said. "Something easy on their stomachs. Some sort of soup perhaps. The touches to their room is a good idea. Cassidy, perhaps you'd do something with that."

Michael was noticing that some of the moonstones had come off her beautiful dress. He lifted his hand and cast a spell, "Accio, Moonstones!" The gems that were scattered all over the area flew to his hand. He ended up with a large handful of them, and he put them in his pocket.

"Thank you, Michael," Robert said. "That will matter to them later. Everyone know what we need? If so, I'll take her to St. Mungos, and Michael can take the car back."

Cassidy nodded " I understand Angus soup should be good" she said and ported back to the main house she found Kate and smiled " we found them there in St Mungos, they were in an acident" she told her knowing she would want to go " I'l stay with the kids if you want to go" she looked at Jim who moved to the kitchen and founs the recipy for the rejuvination soup Angus makes. He set about making a pan of it ready and hopfuly ready for when they returned.

Cassidy moved to the rooms and made them ready knowing each would not be used just yet as it was early days but she put all the things they had brought back away making sure what was clean was out a way and what ws not was washed ready for when Khaat wanted it again. Jim finished the soup and hoped Angus would check it.

"Yes, I would like to go," Kate said. "Will you all be alright if so many of us are gone?"

"We still have a lot of people here, Kate," Angus said, coming into the kitchen. "We can manage, I'm sure. Oh, soup. Good idea. Looks like you're doing fine, Jim."

Robert ported Khaat to St. Mungos, and the staff flew to help, getting a gurney to put her on. "Did Brian get here?" Robert asked, not stopping and taking the gurney straight up to the surgical suites, and issuing orders to Hannah and his staff as he went.

"Yes, Sir," Hannah said. "Jess is tending to him. Orders, Sir?"

"Get a surgical suite ready," Robert said. "I have to repair her shoulder."

"Again?" Hannah frowned.

"Indeed," Robert said. "Get a surgical team to scrub and meet me there. My security team will be arriving any time now. They'll be caring for Khaat and Brian both. Michael will be bringing food as soon as either of them are conscious, and I'm sure my wife will be here shortly. No visitors other than my staff, no exceptions. No press, if we can help it, because we just don't know anything yet. They'll just have to wait for my statement. Let's move."

It was over two hours later when Robert finally had Khaat tended, admitted and moved to a room , two doors away from where Brian had been placed after his admission, on the same side of the hall. He made sure she was still sedated. Then he went to Brian's room to make sure someone was still with Brian and to double check him.

He passed Kate in the hallway. He stopped very briefly. "They're gonna be fine, Kate," he said, kissing her forehead. "Give me a few minutes, and I'll tell you what I know. Khaat's down there." He pointed to her room. "She's not going to be awake for awhile, but you're welcome to go sit with her. I'm going to check on Brian, and then I'll come find you." Kate simply turned and headed to Khaat's room. Robert went to Brian's room.

Jess staid by Brian trying to make him comfortable she ahd set all minor wounds healing but his leg was another matter she would be glad when Robert arrived all she could do was keep him comfortable and sedated till he could return and fix the leg. Jess breathed out seeing Roebrt and moved to hold Brians head. "we've kept him sedated all minor wounds are healing can't tell if internal injuries , his leg is giving off too much pain to get past" she informed him as Jack moved to stand outside in the door way protecting , that and he didn't want to see when the bones went back he could never stomach it even in school. Jess shook her head at Jack and chuckled.

" hes a chuicken where bones and blood are concerned " she said now focusing on Robert " tell me what you want me to do and I'll do it" she said her finger tips bearly making contact with Brians skin as she controled his pain.

"Get dressings for the wound the bone made in the skin," Robert said. "I'm going to set the bone, and then heal the wound. We'll dress it to keep it from seeping and bind the leg in splints until tomorrow. The wound is small enough that it should heal overnight, and that will let us put a cast on in the morning."

He didn't speak. He just set to work setting the fracture, which made a loud, disgusting sound when it shifted back into place. He drew out some bone fragments and put them in a basin, and then he triple checked the bone to make sure he was satisfied with it.

"I'm not concerned so much with the fracture, Jess," he said as he worked. "I'm more concerned about the trauma to the rest of his body. A crush to the entire body is a huge shock. He's lucky to be alive at all. If this were just a broken leg, he'd be able to go home as soon as we set it. But the endless hours under the car, the exposure, the traumatic shock,...its going to take a toll. We can get the pain under control but until his body heals a bit from the rest of it, he's going to be a bit confused and disoriented for a bit. Its very normal. Its also very normal for him and Khaat to both be very anxious until their bodies stabilize.

"We'll have to keep them comfortable and help them to feel secure and safe," Robert said. That should wear off in a day or so. But the next 24 hours could be rough. Food, fluids, quiet, and rest. Potions for pain control, probably just a touch of sedation to help them at least relax.

"I don't expect you to stay endlessly. I'll stay. You do what you're comfortable with. There. Can you dress this and splint it now? I'm going to work on some additional spells to stabilize him.

"Khaat is two doors down to your left when you go out the door. Kate is with her, I'm sure. Her shoulder is completely blown. I've had to operate again. But she's going to have a very similar recovery plan as Brian does. I can't look at releasing them until they're past the worst of this."

Jess waved her hand and a tray foated over to him " already got it ready " she said she ignored the sound of the bone but saw the shiver Jack gave out side the door and she nodded " I understand" she said and smiled " it is my job as a healer " she said moving to the door and down to Khaats room where she found Kate. " still sleeping" she said softly as she made notes on her chart.

Jess moved to stand beside Khaats bed her hand
taking the pain she felt creep into Khaats body. She looked at Kate " we just set Brians leg he hs signifigant injures but Robert is dealing with it" she said as the pain in Khaat dropped to a managable level.

"Thank you, Jess," Kate said quietly. She was accustomed to seeing the many bruises. That was just a normal part of life since she met Robert and Remus. She had hoped, when she had gotten pregnant, that her child would be protected from her father's chaos, but no. The Lupin life had clearly been in her bloodline all along. "You'd think I'd get to the point where some of this was old hat, wouldn't you?" Kate sighed. "And it is, to a given point. And then nonsense like this happens, and I have a strong desire to slap the crap out of Robert. Why, I don't know."

Robert finished his work with Brian. For now, there was nothing more he could do to help either Brian or Khaat. It was up to them now. That, and rest and time, and, hopefully, the spells he put into place. He began to clean up the mess when he heard a weak voice.

"Khaat...Khaat, answer me..." the voice was Brian's. He was clearly still disoriented, and the only thing Robert could figure was that Brian's drive to find her was keeping him fighting the spells Robert had put into place. He went over to the bed and made sure Brian could see him. "Robert...she's gone..." Brian began.

"No," Robert said calmly, knowing he'd have to do this probably several times before Brian would absorb what he was telling him. "She's not gone. You're safe. You know I'd never let that happen. I have her. She's with me...."

"I need to see her...She didn't answer me...She..."

"She was too far away," Robert said. "She didn't hear you. She's alright. I've got this." He brushed Brian's hair deliberately, like he had when Brian was a small boy, to soothe him. As he did, he cast another slight sedative to help him rest. He watched Brian's eyes flutter shut again. Robert knew this might well be a long night.

Jess looked at Kate and sighed nodding " I hve found you can't run fro fate it will find you where evr you hide" she said softly as she brushed some hair off of Khaats face. Hearing voices she smiled at Kate," Seems Brian is awake, I should go and help" she said and moved back to Robert and Brians room.

" Khaat is still sleeping I heard Brian, he still thinks shes in the hole?" she asked knowing it was delirium he was suffering that caused him to think that way. " I'll stay tonight Cassidy, Jim and Steven should be alright with the children " she said Jack looked back and nodded his head.

" we will be " he said softly but stayed at his post that was untill Steven arrived and relived him. Steven looked at Brian but stood where Jack had been as Jack moved to Jess, giving her a light kiss he spoke softly." I'll see you tomorrow, try and get some rest" he said then looked to Robert ." permishon to return to the main house?" he asked.

"Thank you, Jess," Kate said. "Its the waiting that gets hard in these things." When they heard Brian, Kate decided to trust in Robert and Jess and simply stay with Khaat.

"Yes," Robert answered Jess. "That will ease up as the spells take hold. Right now, he's trying to listen but its hard because he's confused. That's temporary. And, yes, Jack, do go ahead and go. If someone would bring Kate and me some fresh clothes in the morning, that would be wonderful."

Michael and Marcus arrived a few minutes later. Michael had brought food for everyone who was there. Marcus could not stay away from his client.

"Food's here," Michael said. He looked at Jess. "Jess, could I have Khaat's dress? Those gems make it extraordinarily expensive. It needs to be out of here. I'll make sure its safe."
