A new life

"Well I don't have much. We could go somewhere. I want you to try and eat every day. I know your dad didn't feed you but your a growing person. You can't eat a little" Nick asked as he watched her find the power button. She was learning and Nick loved her. Nick loved Quelyn like she was his own. "It is a nice day we could go to an amusement park" he suggested. Nick wanted to give Quelyn things she never had before.

"DO THEY HAVE CANDY?" Quelyn squealed when Nick suggested the amusement park. She had heard of those things with roller coasters and Ferris wheels. When she spent the summer at home at night she could see one from where she would sit on the roof of the old run down house she lived in and would watch as the lights lit up and listen to the music as it played, but she had never gone herself. She had wanted to take part in the fun and laughing she heard carry across the space between her and them, but she couldn't. "I want cotton candy, and sugar quills!" she said composing her self and calming down slightly the joy and excitemen in her eyes.

"Yes they do. They have all those things and more" Nick said softly. "You get your outfit on while I get ready" he told her. Nick hadn't been go an amusement park in about three years but he was excited to go to one after all this time. "Its cloudy and not cold, but not warm either." Nick said so she knew what to wear. The weather wasn't the best to go to an amusement park, but they would still have lots of fun.

Quelyn ran upstairs giggling and smiling. once upstairs she dressed in purple jeans with a shirt that depicted personified candy and a floral jacket. "NICK I"M READY!!!!" she cried running down stairs where she sat at the bottom putting her toms pink toms on. "Lets go get candy and have fun and ride the rides that make people scream!" she exclaimed giggling like a little mad woman about all the fun she was expecting to have. "Like the roller coaster and the Mary-go-round and the firris wheel and and and!!!" She said jumping up and down in front of the door waiting for nick.

It only seemed like half a second before Quelyn was ready. When children didn't want to go somewhere they took forever. When children wanted to go somewhere they took only a second. Nick gripped Quelyn's hand and apperated into a amusement park. It was not to crowded and the lines were short. "So Quelyn what do we do first" he asked as he fastened a plastic wristband around her wrist so she could ride the rides.

"EVERYTHING!," Quelyn said jumping up and down and twirling around to look at everything like a puppy in a new place. "Come on, lets go." She said grabbing Nicks hand and dragging him towards the closest ride that looked like a big sweet of swings. "Whats this?" She asked pulling him into the line. She looked up at him with big wide eyes of happiness and joy. "Why are they moving so slow?" She asked pouting a little bit as she looked up at the front of the line. "The line needs to move faster." She said bowing her head slightly in disappointment. She thought it would be more fun than this.

'Please don't fall. Please dont fall.' were the only things Nick could think of as he was drug around, people starting to stare at them. Finally Nick stopped infront of a machine with multiple swings. "Quelyn don't ever drag me again" he said through a laugh. The joys of a child amazed Nick, so sweet and innocent. "It swings you around" he explained. They were the first people in line after two minutes or so.

"Sorry," Quelyn said solmely as Nick told her not to drag him around. She looked down at the ground twisting her feet in the dirt. Looking back up at the swings she smiled again seeing the line becoming shorter and shorter. They would be able to get on the ride the next time they allowed people through the gate in front of her. When they were finally allowed to pass She ran around to the other side picking a red seat in between a blue seat and a green seat. looking at the seat she complected on how to get up into the seat that was just a little to high for her to get in by herself.

Nick gently lifted Quelyn on to the seat. He adjusted her seatbelt and then got himself on. They were spun around, and around, and around. When they stopped he picked up a dizzy looking Quelyn.

--three hours later--

After they rode every ride and got food they were sitting at a table. "Ready to go home" he asked softly.

"There has to be more," Quelyn insisted looking around for a ride she hadn't ridden yet. "There has to be just one," She said pouting when she didn't see one anywhere. "I guess i'm ready to go," She sighed. Quelyn couldn't think she had missed through out the part of the park she could see. "Can we go play the piano?" She asked looking up at nick cocking her head to the side as she looked up at him sad that they had to leave but excited at the prospect of getting to play the piano again. "Or could we do something else? so me more fun!" she almost demanded wanting more happiness.
