A new life

"If you truly wanted to stay you could just say you were at Eli's house. It's almost midnight anyway. No doubt he knows already that you are not at Hogwarts" he said as he thought of excuses to have her stay. He then turned into the house to put Quelyn to bed. If she wanted to leave without Nick telling her to stay, now would be the time. "Come little Quelyn. It is past your bed time" he told her as he picked her up and carried her upstairs.

Cecilia watched as Nick picked Quelyn up and carried her off to bed. She knew that if she were to leave before the night ended and return to Hogwarts it would have to be now. She wrote a quick note which read. Nick, Raphel had last left me in the Ravenclaw tower and that is where i shall be in the morning. I'm sorry, then she left before he could return down stairs aperateing back to Hogsmeed, where she walked back to Hogwarts and up to the Ravenclaw tower where she fell asleep for the night.

"But i'm not tired," Quelyn yawned as Nick picked her up and carried her home. She normally would not sleep but would be more active at night. but it had been a while since she had slept and she would try and sleep for at least a few hours for nick. "Are you going to sleep to?" she asked hugging nick her head resting on his shoulder. she yawned and kissed nick on the cheek as she watched the floor as it disappered below nicks feet as he walked past it

Nick saw Cecilia apperate through the corner of his eye. Gently, he laid Quelyn down in her bed. "Yes but would you like to hear a bedtime story. I enjoyed them as a kid" he said quietly. The feeling of loneliness and sadness started to creep into Nick's mind. He realized that Cecilia would not be his, he thought that she didn't want to be even friends again. He also realized that Quelyn would stop growing and she would be forever alone when he died.

"Yes, I would love that," Quelyn said quietly moving over in the bed so that nick could sit next to her. It had been so long since she had heard a bed time story. When she was little her mother and father would tell her the stories together, but that was not the last thing that had stopped when her mother died. She looked up at nick with sad eyes. She had watched Cecilia leave and knew nick had also seen it. She was sorry that Cecilia did not see in Nick what she did. She would protect him forever the best she could.

Nick read Quelyn the story of the three little pigs. She had seemed to enjoy the story and had fallen asleep. Nick went downstairs and cleaned the dishes. On his way back upstairs he saw a note. After he read it Nick began to cry. He went to his bed and began to cry even more. Cecilia had wanted to protect Nick, not hurt him. Everything she'd done was with good intentions. But he didn't care he wanted her. These thoughts went through his head as he cried himself to sleep.

New day.

Quelyn had gotten a few hours of sleep before awaking at four in the morning. She had crawled out of bed and gone over to sit in her closet as she had the night before and every night she had not spent at Hogwarts, but there were no closets in the dormitories of Hogwarts, or at least not the one she had been in. And that is where she still sat hugging her knees and rocking back and fourth as she sat there humming to herself quietly in the dark. she had not thought of making any noise or playing the piano. If she had done that in the home of her father then she would have made him mad, and she did not want to make nick mad by playing.

It was nine o'clock when Nick awoke. He slowly got out of bed, still in his boxers, and went to the bathroom. Ignoring the fact that Quelyn was in her closet. He used the bathroom and went back into his room. He laid down, not wanting to do anything. He didn't even think about Quelyn. The only thing he thought of was Cecilia, and how she didn't want him.

Quelyn looked up when she heard nick up and moving around. Slowly she got up and walked into his room. She peeked in the door and knocked of the frame quietly before tiptoeing over to him and climbing in the bed. "good morning," She whispered quietly as she resumed the position she had been sitting in when she had sat at the bottom of her closet and her hair fell over her face and shoulders. She taped her toes quietly on the bed and rocked back and forth once again.

Quelyn. Quelyn reminded him and snapped him out of his phase when she spoke. Nick loved that childlike, innocent, sweet voice of hers, it could always cheer him up when he was upset. Slowly Nick began to stand. As he walked over to Quelyn every action felt harder to do. "So Quelyn what would her highness like for breakfast" asked Nick as he picked her up and carried her into the living room. He sat her on the couch and waited for a response.

"I'm not hungry. I've eaten twice this week which is more than normal." Quelyn said looking up at nick while situating her self so she sat with her legs crossd and her feet tucked uner her. "What else is there to do?" She asked tilting her head to the side and pulling nick to sit on the sofa next to in front of the t.v. Picking up the remote she narrowed her eyes at it looking for the power button. "There it is." She said pushing the button.
