A new life

"I don't remember then being said much in my home either, i know some people do though," Cecilia said shruging picking up a fork and pushing the mash potatos around a little before eatting a little of the food on the plate infront of her. "This is wonderful Nick, where did you learn to cook?" She asked tilting her head to the side not knowing what else could be said. She felt rather unconfortable eatting now like she always had infront of people before. She looked off into a different direction of the others in the room.

"I not to what i've eaten," Quelyn answered throught a mouth full of chicken looking up at nick wondering why he had asked if she was allergic to the food he had prepared for her. Swallowing her mouth full of food she narrowed her eyes at him. "I've never had a reaction to anything before." She smiled at cecilia and nick before going back to eating. She pushed her potatos around on her plate makeing a face at them wondering if they made potatos that tasted like chicken too or if the yall tasted the same all the time.

Finally Nick sat down and began to eat. Within ten minutes he was finished. "Cecilia would you mind watching Quelyn for a moment. I have something I need to do" Nick said. He hoped she would. He wanted to get Quelyn a late Easter gift, plus it would give them time to bond. Having Quelyn made Nick happier. It was nice for him to know that someone needed him.

"I could if that is okay with her," Cecilia said in reply to nick and looked over at quelyn, "Would you like to stay with me?" she asked. she hoped that if the girl said she would like it that nick would not take that long because she did have to go back to hogwarts tonight no matter how much she wanted to stay. "We could watch the rest of that movie," She offered with a small smile.

"Why can't i go with you?" Quelyn asked nick her head cocked to the side. She did want to finish the movie she and cecilia had started but she wanted to finish it with nick at the same time. "Okay, I guess, If i can't go with nick." She said solemnly looking down into her lap where her hands were folded and her legs gently swang back and fourth as they did not reach the floor as she waited to be told she could leave the table.

"I'll be back soon little Quelyn. Thanks Cecilia" he said casually. Quickly, he grabbed his jacket and Apperated to a candy store. Nick ended up picking out around four galleons worth of candy. After he assembled it in a big purple basket he apperated back to his house. Quietly he entered his home to see Quelyn and Cecilia sitting on the couch. He handed the basket to Quelyn. "Happy late Easter Quelyn. I know it's late but I thought you might enjoy it still." He said calmly. He sat down next to Cecilia. "I got you something too, Cecilia" he told her softly.

When the door opened once again signaling nicks return Cecilia turned and looked over her shoulder smiling at him. Seeing what he had done for the young girl made Cecilia know for sure she would have a wonderful life with nick and that she had helped him a lot. He was happier slowly getting over her like she knew he would. "Why would you do something like that?" Cecilia asked cocking her head to the side at his talk about a gift for her. She didn't deserve anything from him after what she had done even if it had been done with good intentions.

Quelyns eyes and face light up when she saw the basket of candy. "Thank you!" She exclaimed jumping up and giving nick a big hug around his waist. Sat the basket down on the ground and sat herself behind it at nicks feet her gaze returning to the tv hoping to tune out the two behind her without leavening nick to far behind. She smiled slightly blindly picking out bits of candy and popping them into her mouth making faces or either delight or descust of the piece, though that didn't stop her from not ratting the ones she found kind or icky.

Nick smiled down at Quelyn. Then he turned his attention to Cecilia. He motioned for her to follow him outside, not saying a word. When they finally came outside he began to speak. "I just thought it would be nice. You don't ever get anything nice" he said quietly and sadly. Nick pulled a music box. When it played, it played a nice soft tune. "I'm sorry I ignored you earlier, I was lost in thought. I learned to cook from my sister before she left. I don't know if I will be able to raise Quelyn. I've been getting sadder and sadder without you. What if one day I just block everything out and forget about her." He said quietly. Nick pulled her into a hug and held her for a moment.

"Quelyn can care for herself. All you need to do is love her and be there for her. She needs someone to look up to." Cecilia said relaxing into Nicks arms. "She needs someone to protect her, and that is something you are really really good at." she whispered her words laying her head on Nick's chest like she use to, but now if Raphel saw her do so he would be furious. "She won't let you forget about her." She whispered with a yawn. "But for now you should get back in there before she realizes you're missing and begins to panic. I should be heading back to hogwarts. It's late and Raphel doesn't know i left the castle so he will be looking for me in the morning." She said quietly.

Nick listened to her words. "Don't let Raphael rule you Cecilia. Please stay tonight. It's dark out bad things happen in the dark." Nick said. He gently kissed her on the forehead. He wished this moment would last forever, him and Cecilia. "I could protect you. From your family. From Felix, and from Raphael. I could protect myself too. Think about how happy we would be. You and me. Quelyn and Mollie. I love you Cec and I really want you to be mine" he said before he leaned down and gave her a long kiss.

"I know all about what goes bump in the night," Cecilia whispered as a reply to Nicks plea for her to stay the night. "If I don't go he would get upset with me, and with you." She said looking up at nick her eyelids drooping out of tiredness and the comfort of being in Nick's arms once again. "I-" She started to say but her words were cut off by his lips on her, "know you do." she removed herself from Nick's arms. "I must go," she whispered again backing away from him. "This is not good for us." she said turning to go back inside to say goodbye to Quelyn.
