Marriage is Murder

Jim , Steven and Jess both headed to grab breakfast Cassidy watched Robert and Brian talking before she to headed to eat the smell alone making her tummy rumble she had taken two steps when Steven handed her a cup of tea she smiled as he took it .

"thanks "she said and took some food " foods good Angus" she said and continued to eat Jess smiled as she too ate . Once done Jess gathered all the plates and placed them in the washer ready to go on while Cassidy finished and cleared the table .

Robert checked Brian and managed to relieve his symptoms enough that he could join the rest of them at the table.

"So you're going to live after all, huh?" Angus said. "Good." He put a plate down in front of Brian.

"Don't push yourself to think you have to finish it all, but do get something to eat," Robert told him.

"I haven't had this since we were in Hawaii, I don't think," Brian said.

"I think I've made it maybe once since we've been back," Angus said. "Anybody have any requests for dinner tonight?"

"I would love some fresh seafood," Kate said. "And you always get the best."

"I have connections," Angus laughed. "Seafood? Does that work for everyone?"

"Especially if there is some crab or lobster involved," Khaat said.

"What about the rest of you? I know the kids prefer shrimp," Angus said.

" were easy" Jess said and smiled up at Angus " the seafood sounds wonderful Angus" she said Cassidy nodded .

" absolutely perfect " she said smiling as she motioned to Steven at a move he could make and he did taking a pawn from Jim .

"yes perfect Angus and healthy too " he added taking Stevens knight and chuckle ling as he did so. Steven frowned and shook his head as he thought of what he could do for his next move to take Jim's queen and end the game before lunch was to be served.

(lunch? they just this minute finished breakfast. why is steven concerned about lunch already?"

"Then I'll take care of it," Angus said. "If you'll excuse me. I'll go see what my brothers brought in for the morning catch."

"I guess that leaves me with breakfast cleanup," Michael laughed.

"If the spell is too much for you..." Angus teased.

"You'd better go ahead and go before the first thing I clean up is you," Michael scowled. Angus laughed and headed for the kitchen to get his coat. Khaat finished her coffee and put the mug back on the table.

"I really do need to go," she said.

"If you wait ten minutes, I'll go with you," her father said. "The last I knew, I worked there too."

"Hurry up. Make it five," she told him.

"Nag," he said, sipping on his tea. He had no intention of moving any faster than he chose to.

Jack looked at them both and chuckled knowing Robert would go at his own pace and not hers . He looked at Robert as he spoke again " you want I should come too?" he asked as Jess sat back enjoying her tea that she still cradled in her hands feeling and enjoying the warm feeling it gave her a she drank each mouth full. Cassidy glanced over at Jim then stood up and with out thinking moved a bishop taking Jim's pawn .

" nice move " he said and invited her to sit with him as he and Cassidy began to play again this time he made a point of harder moves for her.

"I don't want Khaat alone," Robert said. "With the increase of unrest in the wizarding community, the likelihood that she might be targetted at some point to get my attention may be increasing. We must be sure she is safe. I don't care who goes along, so long as it isn't Brian today. He needs at least today to heal."

"I really would be fine," Brian said.

"Sure you would," Robert said sarcastically. Khaat put on her long coat and promptly took her father's tea mug from him and tossed his coat on his lap. He looked up at her. "I wasn't ready yet."

"You're either ready or late," she told him.

"So fire me," he shrugged.

"Get up, or I'll port you there without your coat," she said.

"Oh, for heaven's sake. At least let me get my newspaper before I go," he sighed, getting up. She accio'd it to him.

"Now what's your excuse?" she asked. He shook his head, putting on his coat as well and summoning his bag.

"You are much too much like your mother," he sighed.

Jack moved to grab his coat seeing Khaat with her's already on. " I'm coming too" he said moving to stand with Khaat his arms folded as he waited he smiled a small smile at her persistence in getting Robert moving for work. He glanced at Kate as Robert said Khaat was like her " is she just like you?" he asked Jess rolled her eyes and shook her head at him Cassidy chuckled as she moved her second piece.

"that's a question you should never ask a woman my boy" Jim said softly glancing up from his game. " Khaat is Khaat as an individual but her suborn streak is some what like her mother's " he said and smiled at Kate.

"Happily, yes," Kate smiled. "Not everyone seems to be willing to put Robert in his place when he needs it. I actually was quite pleased when she turned out to be his supervisor at the hospital. He needs to not run everything."

"Are you saying I dont' do a good job? Are you in with the rebels, Kate?" Robert asked.

"Oh, go to work and shut it," Kate laughed. Khaat latched onto her father's arm. "Hurry up, Jack. She's leaving now," Kate said, knowing Jack was about to be left behind. Khaat lifted her wand to apparate them out.

Jack heard Kate and turned quickly grabbed hold of her arm " ow no I'm coming your not leaving me behind" he said looking at Robert as he felt the pull of her aperating to the hospital . Jess chuckled as she finished her drink and stood up to place her cup in the sink.

" well I for one am glad she is like you Kate " she said and sat down as Cassidy took another piece off the board " seems you have a player in the making there, Jim" she said and he nodded he agreed as he studied the board more.

Khaat apparated them to the hospital, to the top floor where their offices were. Hannah greeted them and took their coats and promised to deliver coffee to Khaat and tea to Robert.

"What for you, Jack?" Hannah asked, knowing Khaat and Robert would both need a little time in their offices before they started making rounds to patients.

"Any new charts, Hannah?" Robert asked.

"Yes, Sir," Hannah said. "They're on your desk. Khaat, don't forget you need to sign paychecks today and send out the owls with the payments on the accounts."
