"Yes," Khaat said, relieved. She looked at Brian. "You really do need to shower. You've looked better."
"Yeah, I suppose I have," he said, seeing he was clearly wearing all sorts of evidence of battles. He knew Jess would stay, so he got some clothes and headed to the shower.
Michael and Robert finished their conversation, and Michael went to help start breakfast. The sun was just coming up. Another day was beginning, and there were children that were soon going to be awake and hungry. Robert went upstairs to Khaat's room.
"Thank you for staying," Robert said to Jess. "But I think I hear the little patter of uncontrolled toddlers running amuck down the hallway. A great many of them. If I stay here, would you make sure they get dressed and don't get into trouble? Oh, and by the way, Khaat's boys seem to have figured out how to take their clothes off. That appears to be the new game since yesterday. Do try to not let them be naked, would you? I'll keep watch until her paranoid husband manages to finish looking more respectable. Maybe by then, one of our kitchen crew with send up coffee and tea."
