Keith NicholasItem Name: Unknown. Keith calls it ‘The Watch’
Item Type: A Watch.
Creation: Built from some silver on the full moon (cause everyone knows the full moon is special lol) and infused with a variety of charms by several wizards at once.
Character Discovery: Keith's dad bought it from a muggle flea market where it was on display as a useless decoration. He sensed some latent magical energy and bought it, giving to Keith shortly after he was born.
Magical abilities: The watch, which has appeared to be broken since before Keith received it, has been lighting up and spinning wildly since Keith brought it to Hogwarts. That's all he knows right now, but the actual description is below.
The watch actually has an odd assortment of uses, a "magical swiss army knife" you could say. It lights up and spins wildly when in contact with a thick magical residue*. It also has the ability to sense powerful magical abilities and emotions, though Keith has not yet worked out that function yet.
Use(s): Finally, it has the ability to tap into very deep wells of magical residue and replay the scenes out (For example, Keith might be able to actually watch the very first DA meeting, with so many spells and excitement and nervousness running so high, of course he would have to be in the room of requirement) However Keith can't make it do this yet.Ill effects include dizziness, mood swings (the watch might affect his moods depending on what it's sensing) confusion, tiredness. The symptoms will get more acute as he learns to access other functions, though he can stop them b not using the watch (right now he can only do that by taking it off)
Roleplay Sample: Keith shook his head, grimacing. The headaches were getting worse, and more frequent, and now he was even having mood swings. Is this puberty? He thought to himself. 'Cause I don't think the voice change is worth it. He stumbled bit, sitting down on a bench and putting his head in his hands. It was then that he noticed the watch. It was spinning wildly, and giving off a pulsing, blue glow. He stared at it. Weird. He looked at it intensely, and suddenly a voice shot through his head. I love you too Sam!
*magical residue: When a spell is cast, it leaves an imprint which fades in time, the speed depending on several factors. (mainly the strength of the spell, the intensity of the situation, etc. etc.) In a place thick with magical history (Hogwarts especially) intense magical residue is almost everywhere.[/color]
Khaat LupinItem Name: Lupin Family Necklace.
Item Type: Necklace.
Creation: made by Nicolas Flammel when Khaat's mother was pregnant with Khaat
Character Discovery: Put on Khaat's at birth by Remus Lupin who enchanted it so that it could not be removed except by himself.
Use(s): necklace protects the wearer both from changing into a werewolf and from being killed by a werewolf. since Khaat has never been able to remove it, she does not know if she is a werewolf or not, but it also kept her from being harmed by her uncle when he was in werewolf state. It used to alert Remus if Khaat was in danger and allow her to call for him by clutching it in her right hand and calling for him. This also allowed him the ability to find her at will, whether Khaat wanted to be found or not. Once Remus died, Khaat felt she had no real reason for wearing it anymore except that it reminds her of him. She does not realize fully yet that it still protects her from being killed by a werewolf. the stone, however does not protect her from injury by one. The necklace does not have any sort of clasp or catch in the chain to allow Khaat to even try to remove it. The necklace's energies come from sunlight, in order to counteract the effects that are generated by the moonlight connection to a werewolf. this requires the user to spend at least an hour outside in natural light every 24 hours before it begins pulling on the wearer's own lifeforce for its energies. That's why Khaat's family has always strongly encouraged her to be outside as much as possible. Each day without sunlight diminishes the wearer's lifeforce by 10% of its total capacity, therefore making its use fatal in a maximum of 10 days without natural light.
Roleplay Sample: It had been a late meeting at Hogwarts about the alumni society. Khaat walked in the autumn darkness across the grounds towards the waiting carriage that would return her to where she parked her muggle car. She was preoccupied with the society's plans for a Halloween ball when she heard an odd noise in the woods. She left the path to step into the woods and didn't get far when she saw a silouette of a werewolf against the moonlight. It saw her and charged at her, when her green necklace shot a beam of bright green light towards the creature. It howled in surprise and anger, turned and dashed deeper into the woods.
James Wake.Item Name: Cerebus 953 Class A. Item code 40014. Subject: J
Item Type: Alchemic Arm.
Creation: An alchemic arm can be made using various methods, each one dependent on the arm's purpose. It is quite simply to create a whole new arm for a person, but James' Alchemic Arm is very different. It was made as a container for souls. Souls are considered to be the Gold Standard in Alchemy. A soul can be deconstructed and reconstructed into anything, in a sense. It also illegal to utilize souls in Alchemic experiments.
Of course, scientists do not usually really care about what is legal.
The Cerebus 953 is the result of Alan Wake's constant work on the Philosipher's Stone. Despite owning one himself, Mr. Wake does not truly understand the complexities of the Stone and the Soul. In order to experiment further, The Head of Alchemy utilized the souls of prisoners from Azkaban, with permission. Using those souls, he created the alchemic arm. It bears the appearance of a bronze, organic wood, that moves alot like a real arm.
Character Discovery: It was given to James because it bore no use in a branch with little to no funding. And James needed an arm. Alan could only oblige.
Use(s): Good:
-Can mutate with clear alchemic patterns. Removes need to use alchemic circle as long as the circle is clear in the users head.
-Hand functions as a grappling hook. Good for reaching that cookie jar your uncle hides on the top shelf.
Bad:
-Requires a lot of alchemic expertise in order to be used. If used improperly, it could alchemize the person's actual body. Alchemizing a body is one of the taboos of Alchemy, and involves the destruction of the particles of a human body.
-Being connected to so many different souls can cause one lose their sanity. Scratch that- James' mind has been melding with the minds of murderers since the day he received the arm. He may keep some shred of himself, but soon he may be sharing memories with Azkaban's finest. Or should I say worst?
-The alchemic arm can control itself. It's a VERY annoying procedure- the arm will utilize everything it has to protect itself, and it's carrier.
-The energy used by the alchemic arm comes from the host. In other words, whatever calories James will gain will be used to move the arm. The exchange rate causes him to eat A LOT.
Roleplay Sample: Katherine LupinItem Name: Albus Dumbledore’s Pensieve.
Item Type: Pensieve.
Creation: Unknown.
Character Discovery: Pensieve was specifically left to Katherine in Dumbledore's last will and requests because she was a member of the Order of the Phoenix, and Dumbledore specifically wanted a seer who would understand the information in the pensieve and what it would mean to the future of the Wizarding world, a seer who would know how to use it in, as he believed, the proper way. Katherine knew Dumbledore when she joined the original Order of the Phoenix while she was dating Remus, prior to dating Robert Lupin--while they were all students at Hogwarts. Being the headmaster, Dumbledore was often informed on which students were excelling and in which subjects. However, Dumbledore became acutely and directly aware of Katherine's exceptional skills as a seer during her time participating in the Order.
Katherine stopped participating in Order activities when, after graduating Hogwarts and marrying Robert, she became pregnant with Khaat. However, over the years, she and Dumbledore remained friends, and they met and talked together several times, particularly during the Harry Potter days, as he continued to seek out and use as many friends and allies as he could think of to help him try to defeat the Dark Lord. He believed that her seer's insights might help give the Order an advantage over the Dark Lord, but what little information she was able to give him did not prove to be enough to be significantly helpful to him in the end.
Use(s): The Pensieve stored Albus Dumbledore's memories, as many as he put into the pensieve. The information is invaluable to those who know how to access it and use it. However, those thoughts are limited as to not only which memories he stored in the pensieve but sometimes are incomplete and sometimes not of as much benefit as Dumbledore intended them to be. Katherine also has the ability to store her own memories in the pensieve. They are distinguished from Dumbledore's because his memory "threads" show up as blue in the pensieve, and hers show up as violet threads in the same pensieve.
Roleplay Sample: After her meeting with Jess Potter about the current state of affairs with the Order, Katherine felt that there was something nagging at her. Something she could not place. She sat, with a cup of cinnamon tea, for the better part of an hour, but when her thoughts would not clear, she went to her sitting room and opened the secret door that hid Dumbledore's pensieve behind a bookcase. She waved her hand over the waters, and as she did, she saw a blue thread rise up in the stone bowl. She concentrated on that thread and saw, from Dumbledore's perspective, a conversation he had had with the original members of the Order and his thoughts about what he believed the purpose for the Order shoudl be, along with some very specific foreboding cautions about it and how they would need to always worry about keeping the members safe. She wondered how much of their future he had actually seen after all, and if what she had seen would be of any use to Jess Potter and the current Order members at all.
Originally Jaquellene ‘Jack’ Dyllan, Currently Keith NicholasItem Name: Marauder’s Map.
Item Type: A detailed map of Hogwarts and its inhabitants.
Creation: With the collective knowledge and efforts of James Potter (the first), Remus Lupin, Sirius Black, and Peter Pettigrew, such an item was bound to made. These four boys known for their spirited adventures and troublemaking ways (more so in James and Sirius) had such an extensive knowledge of Hogwarts that they were able to draw possibly the most detailed map of Hogwarts that shows every room and is enchanted to show the people within it. It is likely that it took them most of their Hogwarts career to complete and then perfect it.
Character Discovery: Somewhere along the line, the map was confiscated by one of Hogwarts' able caretakers. Jack has quite a history for causing trouble and acquired it in much the same way that the Weasley twins had. On one of her many "visits" with the caretaker, after having released a firework or two in the hallway, she spotted the file labeled 'confiscated and dangerous.' Luckily, one of her fireworks were still running a muck and had hit a suit of armor. While the caretaker ran off, she broke into the cabinet and found the map. It intrigued her and she quickly duplicated it, leaving the fake for the caretaker and pocketing the real one. She spent a few months trying to figure it out before she finally did.
Use(s): -Good-
Shows the entirety of Hogwarts
Portrays the people within it
Explains how to use secret passageways (such as the witch statue to Honeydukes)
-Bad-
Does not always show the RoR
Will not wipe itself clean without your urging, leaving it up to anyone to see
Can be mistaken as an old piece of paper
Roleplay Sample: Jack waited in her dorm, eyes open beneath the covers as moonlight trickled into the room and her dormmate's breathing became slower and deeper. When at last she knew they were all asleep, she slipped out, fully dressed. She snatched up her wand and the old scrap of parchment by her bed.
She snuck down into the empty common room and then outside. Fortunately, the Fat Lady was sleeping. She turned over the parchment, tapped it with her wand, and whispered, "I solemnly sear that I am up to no good."
A map of Hogwarts unfurled onto the paper and Jack felt a smile come onto her face. She quickly skimmed the corridor and found nothing. She glanced around for roaming professors and found only a few, luckily none were nearby nor would they be in her way it seemed.
"Lumos." She padded down the corridor, her eyes on the map, her feet obeying e directions she gleamed from the map. Down the corridor, take a left, down a stairwell (skipping the trick step), through a fake wall, down another corridor, up a hidden stairwell, right, left, through a door posing as a painting.
Minutes later, she was outside the library. She slipped in and hurried inside, wasting no time to slip under the rope to the restricted section. Her finger trailed along the dusty volumes until her hand paused on one. An intimidating volume with the simple name Beasts.
Jack wanted to research a little more on magical creatures to see if she was interested in a career there and some of the of her books did not go into the detail she needed in regards to some of the darker creatures. The librarian and Jack did not get along well, something about Jack not using an inside voice and playing Exploding Snap, so Jack had been forced to resort to this.
Tucking the book under her arm, she slipped out of the library and began to head upstairs again. It was going great until the sixth floor, when a teacher suddenly appeared on the floor. Jack was around the corner and desperately searched the map. There was a nearby classroom. She dove into it and whispered, "Nox."
She sat against the door, peering downward. She heard approaching footsteps and her heart beat quickened. The footsteps stopped and a shadow appeared under the doorway. Jack pursed her lips. For a few seconds there was nothing. Then, with a creak, the footsteps continued.
Jack glanced down at the map and watched the teacher walk away. She waited until they were on the fourth floor before exiting and then hurrying towards the common room. She woke up the Fat Lady ('Young woman what are you doing out here this late?!') and then strode into the common room.
She slipped upstairs and slid the book under her bed. With a smile, she tapped the map and said, triumphantly, "Mischief managed." The map was wiped blank and she tucked the map and her wand safely into her bedside drawer. She smiled.
'Jack. Where did you just come from?'
Jack froze under her covers. Crap. She blurted, "Nowhere, you were dreaming."
She waited in tense silence and suddenly the voice responded, "Oh. Okay." There was a loud snore.
Sophia Granger. Item Name: Time Turner.
Item Type: Sophia's Time-Turner resembles an hourglass pendant on a necklace. The hourglass pendant is twisted to move through time, and the number of turns on the hourglass corresponds to the number of hours one travelled back in time. The travel ends as the traveller arrives to the point in time of which he went back in time
Creation: Unknown although legands said it made by a ministry member.
Character Discovery: Sophia found in the room of requirements the before she graduated from Hogwarts. It was in between two books on the book self Sophia usually always reads from. Sophia reported it in but no one calmed Sophia decided to keep it for traveling purposes.
Use(s): Pros: can travel further back in time then a normal actual time turner would
*can travel by touch which means you don't have to have the chain wrapped around your neck
* has a long chain then a normal time turner has
*can freeze time unlike the time turner
Cons:
*like a normal time tuner you can't see your pass self
*has a time limit on it like a normal time would have on it
* leaves a burn on your neck if you want it to long
Roleplay Sample: Sophia hid behind the tree to advoid her pass self as she peeked around the tree to she her pass self walk around the corner. "Whew... that was close."said Sophia softly to herself as she ran across the street with Chase. "See, I was shopping all day yesterday NOT at your house!"said Sophia softly as she looked at her pass self as her pass self went into the cafe on the corner. Sophia looked at her time tuner in her pocket and seen how long they had left. "I still have plenty of time, actually more time to show her EVERYTRHING!"said Sophia softly to herself. As she kept on walking she made sure no one from the pass she knew saw her or they would be screwed. "Remember we must not be seen by anyone ok?"Sophia asked Chase softly as she nodded.
Michael Tremaine.Item Name: Hiss.
Item Type: Sentient Climbing Rope.
Creation: by accident by Michael and his friends during their post-Hogwarts years. Hiss was the result of a spell gone bad, and Michael kept him/it.
Character Discovery: N/A
Use(s): Positives: rope follows directions well and Michael can use it to help with his wizarding catburglarly. That's about it for the positive effects in it. Negative effects: Well, its just a bloody rope. It is very limited at what it can do. It thinks and slithers, can tie itself in knots, etc., but can't cast any spells or anything else. Its just a rope with a brain.
Roleplay Sample: ) Michael pulled an enchanted rope from his pack. "Go," he told it softly. It slithered like a snake and tied itself to the inside of the airshaft. "Its name is Hiss," he told Rob. He didn't know why he'd named the bloody rope, but he'd had it for years, and the sentient rope was the closest thing Michael had ever had to a partner in his work.
Silvyr SvanItem Name: A black flimsy leather Journal
Item Type: Albus Dumbledore's personal magical Journal on spell creation and magical knowledge.
Creation: Dumbledore's first hand knowledge on spell creation, magical knowledge, and of his spells created, 1920 - 1980.
Character Discovery: Found it on the bottom shelf wedged between to books in Obscurus Books.
https://www.pottersarmy.net/t12849-knowledge-doesn-t-come-easyUse(s): It's a Journal that contains knowledge of
magic.Pros-- It contains High knowledge of spell creation and magical studies.
- The person who studies the Journal has a high understanding of Spell Creation.
- That person has a higher possibility of creating the spell intended to create.
- The journal contains knowledge on Dumbledore's vast studies throughout his life.
Cons-- The knowledge could easily end up killing the wizard if taken lightly.
- Spells still take immense amounts of time to perfect.
- The knowledge causes continuous temptation to push the limits of spell creation which could result in death.
- There are bits and pieces of Dumbledore's past but not enough to know anything personal about Dumbledore.
Roleplay Sample: Silvyr apparated back to his home for a night to himself. He had been waiting for things to die down with the war for a chance to continue his study of his newest spell. As he arrived in his kitchen his nose was filled with the common scents of his home. He proceed down stairs to his cellar which he had enchanted with many different charms. For the spell he was trying to create he had made the room and his belonging in the room fire proof for obvious reasons. The room was also completely sound proof after he closed the door leading down to his cellar. Silvyr performed the Bubble-Head charm on himself as he descended down the stairs, a charm he could not forget to do without risking death.
He grabbed his journal from his desk and opened it to the page that was marked with the soft piece of silk attached to the top of the journal's binding. He cleared his mind completely as Dumbledore had instructed in the beginning of the journal as the beginning to all spell creation. It was clear that Dumbledore was strong in the skill of spell creation due to his near perfect understanding in the skill of Occlumency. Silvyr then thought completely on the finished results and of his intent of the spell he was trying to cast. He held his wand in his hand and pictured the way flames danced out of a fire. Now ready to begin he focused his magical energy as he continued to focus on the flames and what he intended for them to do. As the image in his mind grew he allowed it to swell until it was ready to come forth into the real world. He opened his eyes, moved his wand in the way he had scene the flames dance, and spoke the words with the force of an ocean wave coming from behind them, "Oceanus Incendio!" He listened as his mouth pronounced the words with the strength and beauty they commanded.
A roaring wave of fire backed by the strength of the ocean rushed from Silvyr's wand as it roared towards the wall some two hundred kilometers away. He watched as it filled the room with blistering heat and blinding light. He noted as it sped, how fast it traveled, until it hit rushing up towards the ceiling like a wave hitting a cliff side. Before the fire got the chance to cause him any harm he stopped the spell and cast another, "Avexio Oxygene." he said as he moved his wand in a slashing motion across the entire room. Instantly the oxygen was sucked from the room and the flames vanished. The oxygen removal spell had been one of the many spells created by Severus Snape himself. It had come in handy before, while Silvyr had been working on perfecting the new fire spell.
He spoke one last spell to finish his trial for the night. "Implere Oxygene." The oxygen returned to the room though it seemed as if nothing had changed. Able to breath again he stopped the Bubble-Head charms effects as he returned to his desk. He began writing notes of the effects of and power the spell had shaped with and possessed. The spell was getting closer to perfection and Silvyr knew only a few more trials were needed until he would be able to use it if the opportunity ever arose. He did not realize it was morning already when he had finished his notes for the night. He grabbed his coat and turned off the lights up stairs. He locked the front door behind him as he left, and took the opportunity to scan the forest quickly before apparating back to his apartment where Leah had been waiting for him in London. He took off his coat and walked over to the bed. He would only get a few hours of sleep for that night but he knew it was necessary if he ever intended on finishing the spell he had worked so hard on over the past year. His eyes closed as he dozed off into sleep for the remaining hours he had in the night.
Info:- This is just an example for now though I do plan on creating a spell similar to this over time.
- I realize that you would fear of my miss use of this knowledge but I understand that I would need to check with an admin before creating some stupidly strong spell.
- I care for my character and I wouldn't create ^SAID^ stupidly strong spell due to effects on his body and possible death.
Leven AsheItem Name: Yin & Yang
Item Type: Ring Set .
Creation: Crafted from mainly silver, the ring set was created over a two year time frame, one year for one ring and another for the other ring. One was created with an onyx jewel that was set in the center meanwhile the other was created with a pure white opal in the other. The unseen magic of Love was actually 'poured' into the ring set, and grows stronger each time it is passed on to those that have the connection of true love.
Character Discovery: Leven's grandparents had the ring set since they were teenagers, her grandmother having handed over the Onyx ring meanwhile Leven has but does not wear the Opal ring.
Use(s): The ring set was created with the sense of Love, a strange magic that has lasted for many years. The rings sense each other when both are finally worn by a couple that have intense and in love emotions towards each other. The rings allow for the couple to find each other if they ever become separated by a sensation; it also allows for each other to sense the emotion that the other is feeling. It isn't unusual for the other half to become in pain if the other feels some type of physical or mental pain. If the rings do not sense love between the couple, then there will be no sense of longing for sense of needing to find the other half. If one ring is taken from it's original owner or the owner's lover - then it would have a deep burning sensation upon the other.
Roleplay Sample: Her eyebrow raised, curious by the object that rested heavily in her palm. It was pure silver but it seemed to have become dull over the years of being worn; almost to the point of it being considered dark like the rock that was in the center. Her cloudy blue eyes glanced upwards to the aging couple in front of her. Despite the fact that they were only half blood magical, they still retained the youthful glow that some pureblood grandparents would have. "
Take it dearie, you'll need it more then us."
Her grandmothers confirming voice made her frown, Leven wasn't expecting trouble in England thus found it to be oddly strange why they'd want her to carry it around with her. But yet.. there was a more comforting feeling that it carried despite it resting in the palm of her hand. As if the two of them would be there in England and in the new school along with her. Leven though was surprised when her grandfather placed another ring off of his bony finger into her hand, right on top of the onyx ring. Instead of a pure black like the onyx, it was a pure white Opal.
Both just grinned slyly despite the haphazard look that they were carrying, as if they couldn't tell what the other was thinking any longer. "
You see now, you give that to a good boy, ye hear?" Her grandfather grinned, fully aware of what would happen when his grandbaby found that one special guy in her life. Leven blushed darkly, thrusting on the onyx ring in haste as she said her final goodbyes. Already aware that she just might not want to return back home.
Pansy Parkinson-NottItem Name: Invisibility Cloak
Item Type: Clothing
Creation: The original was made by death, or so is believed in the tale of the three brothers however Pansy's is made from demiguise hair weaved with cloth by Madame Malkin.
Character Discovery: Pansy requested that her husband make her one or find her one in some way. Of course any manmade invisibility cloak known apart from the own in ownership of the Potter's fades over time and loses it's ability. Of course Pansy doesn't have the original one, something she still wants from the Potter's of course, but is none the less happy with the cloaks her husband provides her with when it starts to fade, from which he pays Madame Malkin, the expert seamstress, to secretly make for him out of demiguise hair.
Use(s): The invisibility cloak conceals the person wearning it from the sight of others, allowing them to blend into the background as though camouflaged from view. This comes in use to Pansy when she is working because she can get the latest scoop as all she needs to do is slip on the cloak and intrude on people's private conversations, much like how Rita Skeeter did via the skill of being an animagus. One of the disadvantages is that she does need to be silent, making the scratching of a quill beneath the cloak noticeable and could give her away. Because of this she can't always use it in quiet situations. Plus she would need to go away and hide underneath before going to a private scene of some sort and she would have to walk slowly as to not reveal herself and may miss on important information by taking her time to get there - that is of course if she can get into the location. As a result Pansy will only use it when it is necessary to go to such a hassle to scoop a story and so doesn't usually have her cloak in possession unless she is purposefully setting out to investigate. It also is a risk because it could start to fade at any time and whilst she is waiting for another one to be made she can't use it, meaning it doesn't get used as much as one would expect.
The main con with her artifact however is that, because it is not made from death and is manmade, it requires more than the magic that the demiguise hair offers. As a result when worn it essentially feeds on the magic within Pansy draining her of her energy meaning that it can not be worn without having serious consequences - something Madame Malkin warned her of and of course Pansy doesn't want to find out what the devastating effects are in case she dies, is injured in the process (most definitely) or worse: her cover is blown.
Roleplay Sample: One of her colleagues had beaten her to a story, by complete luck Pansy thought. Anyone could have easily been at St Mungo's the time when Khaat Lupin was taken in after almost being savaged by the rouge werewolf: James Blood. Thankfully Brooks, her colleague, hadn't gotten every detail. To the readers it seemed as though the Prophet was telling them everything, the whole truth. Being a reporter herself Pansy knew differently.
There was a promotion on the line to editor and to Madame Parkinson-Nott it was treasure, lost treasure with an 'x' labelled besides it. Pansy wanted nothing more than to own the Daily Prophet and the step to editor mean't a giant leap towards that. As a result she needed the extra information on what was happening, the mystery that surrounded the Lupins.
After apparating two streets away from St Mungo's, finding the disused store and stepping through the glass window Pansy found herself in the hospital reception area. Now was the difficult part: finding the Lupins. For some the difficult part would be sneaking in unknowns to the Ministers daughter and her many,
many, bodyguards but not for Pansy, for the reporter had something the petty peasants could only dream of: an invisibility cloak.
Following the signs for the toilets Pansy slipped into one of the cubicles, turned the lock and extracted the cloak from her bag. It was so sleek, luxurious. Her husband really had out done himself with this one, who knows how much it would have cost. Not that Pansy cared, it was his money, which ironically made it hers. The perks of having a weedy, infatuated, rich worm of a husband.
Leaving the bathroom Pansy began to walk the halls of St Mungo's. They would be here somewhere, most likely a high security room away from the main walkways. If only she had Lupin's medical files.
If only. A grin gleamed across her face for she was Pansy Parkinson-Nott and could get whatever she wanted right now.
Heading up a flight of stairs Pansy followed the directions for the directors office, which given the fact Lupin wasn't in any fit state to work, would be empty. How convenient.
