Item Name: Flying carpet
Item Type:Flying carpet- Magical, used for flying.
Creation: The carpet is a rich wine color with bold golden embroidery on it, and big wide royal blue intricate borders with Turkish designs on its edges. On the other side of the carpet the border is a strong turquoise color, and the center of the carpet is a patchwork of lace, and different pieces of patterned fabric. It told that it was made by a Turkish mage, who handed it down to his children, and successively onward for a span of five generations only to have one of his less appreciative grandchildren sell it. It was sold to many merchants, who sold flying carpets of the same type.
Character Discovery: Hermes wanted a flying carpet but not just any, he wanted a beautiful one that was not frisky. Sense most carpets tended to have that nature, when Hermes set his eyes on the carpet in the black market, it was worth too much. Hermes haggled for it, then traded two pieces of fine art, and two 5 inch sculptures of solid gold, and finally it was sold to him.
Use(s):The carpet only understands the orders ‘up’, ‘down’, ‘stop’, and ‘thats far enough’ it is only a tool, it cannot speak and has no feelings what so ever.
It cannot carry more than 350 pounds, you can fall off the carpet if you are not careful and the carpet will NOT catch you if you fall off.
It cannot travel more than 50 miles long.
Roleplay Sample:Hermes made the carpet sway gently back and forth, then wringing it out like if it was a dish rag, or dusting it like the sheets on a bed, only to gently settle it down on the ground. The sun made the golden embroidery on glimmer as the carpet began to hover 3 inches above the grass.
Hermes only grabbed his dog Yellow, he knew his cat Penelope could not handle the ride, in fact the cat would probably scratch him up, before jumping off the carpet in a frenzy. A free fall suicide… he snickered at the thought. It would probably be fun to watch that… he felt tempted to grab the cat just to see that happen, his cruelty knew no bounds. Still he would miss Penelope and he decided that his cat was to beautiful to experiment with in that manner his kissed the pussy, placed her on the grass and just lightly dumped his backpack on the carpet. A guttural giggle escaped his lips thinking of the Penelope free falling through the sky, eyes wide marbles, the grey speckled, white marked and beautiful brown, fur sticking out all over her body. If that happened where would the cat land.. he grabbed his small satchel and threw it on the carpet. It would be so funny if the cat landed on a person who happened to be walking around just when the cat was about to hit the ground… he giggled more roughly, as he pulled on his coat, and ear muffs on. That would kill the cat and the man.. he thought.
“Well that would be a way to die,” he thought aloud. “Getting killed by a free falling cat,” he uttered not loud enough to be herd. He wrapped the scarf around his neck and grinned at the nearby shopkeeper who stared at Hermes as if he was crazy. Hermes ignored the glare placed a foot on the carpet then quickly the other, sitting down to keep himself from falling off. “Up” he ordered, that was all the carpet could understand. Up, down, stop, and that’s far enough. The carpet could not speak, it made him glad. He figured listening to a carpet speak would be annoying, if a carpet could speak, what would it say all day? he held his dog closer as the wind whipped past his face and the butterflies in his stomach rose to his esophagus. It would probably talk about what fibers it admired most and would complain about people stepping all over him all day his mind conjured
Also the carpet couldn’t travel long distances which was something he disliked, but he figured, he would use it when he needed to travel to remote regions then most of the time fold it up and carry it in his pack. He was glad he didn’t have anyone else to carry with him, sense the carpet couldn’t carry more than, 350 pounds… sometimes less depending on the amount of baggage, he was trying to travel as lightly as possible, he hoped he didn’t have to flee anytime soon. “That’s enough,” he ordered, he didn’t want the carpet to rise any further, he knew if it got anymore higher he wouldn’t be able to breathe, and he also knew he was still getting used to using it. He knew his cat Penelope would find the way back to the ranch, he watched it scurry into the edge of the forest and disappear through the leaves as the carpet began to smoothly glide through the air, luckily it was not going at high-speed, or else he could fall off. The bustling dry branched and snow cover oak trees blocking his view, as the chilly ice wind whipped past him, almost poking his skin, but scorching his nose. Maybe taking the carpet ride to the hills during winter was a bad idea… he regretted the cold wind needles trying to stab through his coat and sweater.
The scenery was sweet, with snowy plains, and a few dry yellow straw sprinkled hills, and small roofs of village huts and cottages scattered, and slowly waned into less and more run down homes, all distant from society. Hopefully people wouldn’t notice something sort of colorful moving at running speed, a few feet above their heads.
