Beasts are Beautiful

Jack nodded at his words. "Spectrals are... different." She paused. She had not dared to mention that she only worked with Vito, but she typically did not advise people to work in the area. It was small, specialized, and incredibly nerve wracking. "A unicorn flicks its ears back when it is upset. A dragon flares its nostrils. A werewolf bristles. You can't tell with the spectral beings."

He sighed and Jack shook her head. "It's okay, keep working. NICKY!" One of the Healer interns appeared and Jack requested some antiseptic and bandages. While they washed it, it would be good enough to wash the wound and wrap it. "That'll tide it over until we can really look it over. This boy is probably going into your care, Jake."

"If anything, with some of them you could end up hurt or dead without even knowing what happened." he said. Spectral beings interested him, a lot more than he led certain people to believe but creatures like unicorns and dragons interested him more. That's why when he first wanted to work in this department, he immiately chose to be a beast specialist. He could've easily been a spirit or being specialist, but he just decided on being a beast specialist.

Jake nodded when she told him to keep working. As one of the healer interns helped her clean and bandage the wound, Jake focused on getting the last of the oil off of the unicorn's fur. When she said the unicorn would probably be going into his care, he nodded and smiled. "That's fine. I'll be glad to take care of it until it can go home." he dropped the blackened sponge and patted the side of the unicorn gently.

Their job was quickly finishing up. Jake would only have to wait for the leg to heal up, find a place to transport the unicorn, and get it back there. The healing wouldn’t take more than a few days, and the other tasks would not take long either. It had been a high risk situation quickly calmed, and Jack did have to owe that to Jake. She would not have been able to get a handle on the wild unicorn alone, as no one would be able too.

“How’s this job working for you, Jake?” Jack asked. “Everything going well? Have any issues or anything that needs to be handled?”
