Marriage is Murder

Angus had presented some trays of canapes and a tray of limoncello martinis. They were wonderful. Khaat quickly decided they could be some of her favorites. It was a nice chance to de-stress before they went to the movie and the casino.

Brian soon looked at his watch. "We need to dress for the evening. Angus, are you sure you have the kids all taken care of?'

"Absolutely," Angus said, all smiles. "I promised Abbey it was our secret, but we're going to have a great time. You all go and enjoy." Brian reached for Khaat's hand. She took it, and he excused them and took her downstairs to change.

"I think thats the cue for the rest of us," Robert said. He and Kate and Michael all got up and excused themselves to go change. It took them all awhile to change, but they began to gather back on deck. Robert was stunned by how beautiful Kate looked in her chcolate colored dress with the beads. And when Brian brought Khaat up, in her light and airy summer printed dress, all Robert could what a lovely woman his daughter had grown to be. Khaat, on the other hand, was noticing how handsome the men were in their tuxes. None of the wealthy muggles would have a thing on them tonight.

"I'd say we're ready," Robert said, as the stretch limosine arrived at the docks. Michael had thought of everything. "Its nice to see everyone dressed up. We don't get to do that very often. Shall we go?"

"Please," Kate said. They got into the car together and when everyone was in the car, the uniformed chauffer drove them to a beautiful theater, straight to the red carpet zone. There was one car ahead of them.

"If you want any last minute checks before the cameras start taking pictures, do your mirror checks now," Michael said. "You have about 2 minutes. I think you all look wonderful, but I know you'll all want to check."

"You're right," Khaat said. "I do." She and Kate started to make a mirror check. Brian and Robert and Michael didn't bother checking. They didn't much care.

The car began to move forward. "You'll all follow Kate and I out as couples," Robert said. "Just follow our lead."

"As a couple?" Michael laughed, being dateless.

"Get out with Brian and me," Khaat told him.

"Good thought," Robert said.

Robert got out first and lovingly helped Kate out of the limo. Brian got out next and helped Khaat out, offering her his arm. She took it as Michael got out behind her and stood beside her on the other side from Brian. The muggle press members were asking who they were. They were accustomed to muggle celebrities and didn't know this bunch of people getting out of the car.

Robert was about to speak when David, the muggle Prime Minister took it upon himself to come over to Robert and lay a hand on his shoulder and openly welcomed Robert and Kate in front of the press. David introduced Robert as a wealthy investor in the British film that was to be shown that evening in the dinner theater and then introduced Robert, Kate and the family and friends.

Khaat looked at Michael, who merely smiled at her. Khaat didn't think they had invested in anything. Michael had the answer to her question. He just couldn't answer her in front of the muggle cameras.

"I didn't know either," Khaat said. "There are some things he just doesn't tell me. I hope its a good movie. I think Brian is hoping the food is good."

"I am," he laughed.

When Jim said they looked polished, Brian said. "So do you. Its nice to do every so often. The longer I hang around Khaat the more used to it I get. And I never get tired of seeing her all dressed up."

"Are you saying that the only time I look good?" she asked.

"No," he laughed. "Dont put words in my mouth."

"Shut up, Boy," Michael said with a smile. "There is no way you can win at that. Let it go."

"I think I will," Brian said.

"Let's go," Robert called them. "I think we can push forward a bit and actually get inside." They made it through all the press into the dinner theater. There was one very large semi circular booth for them all and it was almost right at center stage about the third row from the stage. Perfect for seeing a film." Their server waited for them to get seated so that he could take drink and appetizer orders.

Robert laughed at the conversation, and he ordered champagne for everyone. He ordered an appetizer assortment tray, and the server left.

"Now," Kate said, "When did you invest in a muggle fim, of all the ridiculous things?"

"I didn't," Robert said softly, laughing. "David was giving me a cover story. A reason to be here."

"Actually, Michael said. "You sort of did."

"What?"

"I invested in the film to give us legitimacy and gifted it to you," Michael said. "David wasn't exactly lying." Robert laughed out loud. Michael truly had thought of everything. \

"Then I owe you a great deal of money."

"Well, with as much as I owe you, how about we just split the profits?" Michael said.

"Indeed. Alright," Robert passed around menus. "You have your choice of 3 dinners--lobster, chicken, or prime rib. You all should decide before the server comes back with our appetizer."
