Brian managed to cut in on Andrew and orchestrate a rather seemless switch. The two young people seemed to be only momentarily thrown and then when they realized they were actually dancing together, they both smiled, pleased at the sudden development. Brian led Khaat back to her seat. Her father put a coffee cup in front of her and Brian and tea in front of him and Kate.
"Smells divine," Brian said.
"It certainly does," Khaat said.
"We'll stick with our Earl Grey, but perhaps that will give you a bit more energy. You're dragging a bit, my dear."
"Just a little," she said.
"Coffee," he said. "It's always worked for you before."
"Well, I think its a perfect finisher for a perfect cake," kate smiled. She watched Abbey slip away from her caretaker when he was momentarily distracted and run straight for Robert, much to the embarressment of her caretaker. Abbey tugged on Robert's pantleg, and when he looked at her, he turned, and smiled and eagerly picked her up.
"And how did you escape?" he laughed, sitting her on his lap.
"Cake!" she pointed to part of Robert's piece of cake that was left. Khaat laughed as her father began breaking off little bites of cake for Abbey. The big tough Minister of Magic was a sucker for anything his grandchildren wanted.
