Welcome to Potter's Army

We have been a Harry Potter Roleplaying site since 2007. If you're an old member we hope you come check out the discord link provided below. And if you're looking for a new roleplaying site, well, we're a little inactive. But every once and a while nostalgia sets in and a few of our alumni members will revisit the old stomping grounds and post together. Remember to stay safe out there. And please feel free to drop a line whenever!

What’s Happening?
Since every few months or so a few of our old members get the inspiration to revisit their old stomping grounds we have decided to keep PA open as a place to revisit old threads and start new ones devoid of any serious overarching plot or setting. Take this time to start any of those really weird threads you never got to make with old friends and make them now! Just remember to come say hello in the chatbox below or in the discord. Links have been provided in the "Comings and Goings" forum as well as the welcome widget above.

Wizengamot Offices and Courtroom Empty Wizengamot Offices and Courtroom

Post by Khaat Lupin Wed Dec 22, 2010 1:31 am

The offices of the Wizengamot, as well as the courtroom, are located here. The wizengamot acts as the legal body for the Wizarding world in England, and the Chief Warlock presides over the body of the Wizengamot.

When trials take place, defendants are permitted to bring support persons to assist them in defending their position. Other legal matters are said to be under the jurisdiction of the Wizengamot, such as wills, adoptions, and other various permissions. Wizarding citizens are free to consult with any wizengamot member about legal matters.

The proceedings and choices for this legal body do not exactly follow or function muggle legal codes, and appear to have a bit more flexibility because of the lack of wizarding lawyers.

Wizengamot Offices and Courtroom Empty Re: Wizengamot Offices and Courtroom

Post by Thaorson Kam Elldir Wed Dec 22, 2010 3:52 am

While wizarding citizens can consult with any member of the Wizengamot, said members are not required to act upon the requests of the citizens. All the decisions of the Wizengamot are final. There is an appeal process which will be outlined at the bottom of this post.

While the Wizengamot is the supreme court of the Wizarding World. It does not function like the American Supreme Court. Meaning they do not have to hear your appeal, and there are no checks on the Wizengamot. In essence the Wizengamot holds itself accountable, and can dismiss members as they see fit.

Appeals Process
Step I
Contact Members of the Wizengamot, and argue your case.
Step II
Get THREE members of the Wizengamot to agree to re-open your case.
Step III
Your case will be heard by the Wizengamot.
Step IV
Wizengamot Members will vote on the appeal, a total of FOUR members must agree to appeal the case for you to win the appeal.
