The girls sized each other up. At least, Angelique sized up Brienne, so she assumed Brienne was doing the same thing. If she wasn't, it would be her loss, right?
The Ravenclaw was singing. 'Lique didn't recognise the song, but then, she didn't recognise most of the things her peers listened to. She preferred more obscure artists, like Sonus Attack.
If Bri was trying to distract her, it didn't work. Angelique had intended to let the other girl get the first spell in. It wasn't usual duelling practice, but Angelique found it handy. Usually, you'd try to strike first, so you wouldn't have to defend right off the bat, but sometimes it was good to get a feel for how strong your opponent was, or what spells they preferred.
Apparently, Brienne thought the same thing, because she wasn't taking the bait. She just stood there, too. It was getting ridiculous, and if there was one thing Angelique couldn't stand it was looking ridiculous.
"Ictus!" she let fly with a modest hurling hex.
Not that Angelique disliked people being afraid of her, but if Brienne was going to be that petrified, she should at least have a reason for it.
