Amelia had planned to be very early to charms this morning because she still had a few pages in the textbook that she wanted to go over, but just as she had been getting ready to leave Ravenclaw Tower she had been stopped by a first year student, looking very much on the brink of tears and holding his class schedule like it was a lifeline. After an over-long explanation of his attempts to get to the fifth floor for transfiguration and being thwarted every time by the moving staircases, Amelia had attempted to patiently steer him toward a more direct path, though patience had never been her strong suit. The boy seemed not to care, however, if her words had been kind or blunt - probably the latter - and had rushed away to follow her instructions nearly as quickly as she had completed them.
Oh the life of a seventh year.
So this interruption to her regular morning routine had made Amelia a few minutes later than she had wanted to be, but as she arrived in the charms classroom she found that she was still early enough that there were only two other students in the room. She recognized Jack from having met her over the summer, and was thankful when she noticed that the redhead's backside was blessedly free of mud this time, because she didn't need that kind of distraction in class. The other girl was Brienne, a girl she had seen in the Ravenclaw common room over the years and had most recently seen on the train to Hogwarts, but Amelia was determined not to think about that and forced it out of her mind as she took a seat in the third row, off to the opposite side of her classmates.
