End of Summer Party

Remy Devaul was overdressed and overtired, but she never, ever missed a good party. The end of summer party was being thrown by the Ministry, which meant there was sure to be at least a handful of men worthy or her pursuit, if not more. The ministry had an annoying knack of inviting important men – and their wives. Ideally, the late summer heat or perhaps vacation plans with their families would keep the women away, leaving an opening for the dark-haired vixen who now stood just at the edge of the lantern-lit area.

The spiked heels she had worn to the event were completely inappropriate for the venue, and were now sinking into the grass she was standing on. Remy had taken a portkey here, being unable to apparate, and hadn’t really done her venue research ahead of time. The bright red dress she wore, while immensely flattering on her curves, was much too runway for such a laid back atmosphere, but she had been slightly limited in her choices of attire. This dress had been easiest to filch from the muggle fashion boutique, and its color definitely made her stand out among the less dramatically clad party-goers.

Already annoyed by her unsuitable footwear, Remy reached down and pulled off the strappy black heels, tossing them beneath the table for the food. It was unlikely that they would be taken, and if they were, there were plenty more where they came from - shoes seemed to be a very popular gift from the men she courted for their money.

Her dark hair had fallen over her shoulder as she leaned down to dispose of her shoes, and Remy flipped it back over her shoulder before moving barefoot through the grass toward the bar. Once there, she ordered an extra dry martini from the meek-looking bartender, who was quick to fill her order. Taking the glass from him, Remy flipped him a sickle and a few knuts and turned to survey the party around her.

So who shall the lucky man be tonight… Remy thought deviously, her eyes raking the crowd from over the rim of her martini glass as she took the first sip of the colorless liquor.

Keegan smiled warmly as he seen Samantha walk towards him and couldn't believe his eyes at the sight of her. "Wow... Sammy love, you look like an beautiful angel sent from heaven above."said Keegan kissing her back. Keegan nodded. "Yes indeed love, it looks very beautiful but not as much as you do."said Keegan softly. "I know your never cold Sammy, but I brought my jacket incase you want it wear it for the heck of it!"said Keegan winking at her. He knew she loved the way he smelled and before he left she used to wear his jacket or his hoodies all the time.

Catalina bit the inside of her cheek as she gazed around at the groups of people dispersed about outside. Her heart was beating wildly in her chest and she was attempting to calm it down with every fiber of her being. She didn't know why she had wanted to come to this. Her mother had insisted that it would be a good way to make herself more known to the other students and the like, but she didn't particularly like any of her classmates. Most made it clear that they wanted nothing to do with her, so she made sure to keep to herself. Besides, she was a creature who loved to watch people from afar, not interact with them. She had been referred to as a snob, but she didn't really mind. She knew that these people would mean nothing to her once she graduated. They were just obstacles on her way to graduation.

Sighing, she began to play on her imaginary piano to her side, the melodic notes of Tchaikovsky's "Marche Slave" filling her brain with sweet calmness. Unsure if she should go up and talk to a group of people near her left, she watched them for a moment with her sapphire eyes, wishing she wasn't so nervous all of the time. She could fake confidence rather well if someone came to speak to her first, but other than that, she was quite horrible at it. Flattening out the ruffles on her short black dress, she took a deep breath and moved towards a table before sitting gracefully down. She could just watch people. There was no need for talking unless someone wished to speak to her. She wouldn't mind to be honest, but she was always too afraid to make the first move.

Miseria didn't know why did she show up so early to this party. Though, she was always one who rushed everywhere. But looking around, she had to sigh loudly. There were only several people who she knew. Abbey, Jack and Jess Blackheart, Jess Potter, and Samantha. All the others... well, except Mariana, were strangers to her.
For a moment she thought about leaving, but then again, she didn't want to go away and later return. It would be just a waste of time. She could just sit there, and watch. Yes, watch, which was probably the best thing to do because she learned that people usually didn't come to talk with her. She was just too boring for them.

Sighing quietly, she walked towards the table, and sat down on a little sofa like chair thing. She could see everyone from over here. Wouldn't she be worried, she'd just go and talk with someone. Whoever she could find, and not even think about if she knew that person or not. She sighed after taking a deep breathe, and continued to look around with her emotionless face.

OT: Dress. Yeah, i really couldn't find something... Normal.

After being fussed over for at least two hours before the beginning of the party, Rafael had managed to pull himself out of the iron grip of his sister and Apparate away. Communal Parties brought people closer. That was something that Mynah had always been in favour of where Rafael was concerned. She’d always complain that he wasn’t making himself a part of the world he was meant to be in and Rafael would just sit there and let her rant on about his introverted nature and the problems with it. She hated it to the point of wanting to strangle him herself but she saw the impending party as an excuse to chuck him into the world he’d been resisting since the day the Ministry officials took him to Diagon Alley. And we all know how well that went.

The Gryffindor was definitely more made up than usual. Mynah had seen to that finer point personally. Rafael knew that if he had stayed even a fraction of a second longer then she would have had him wearing make-up. That was a route he would not freely go down. He had even said it himself that the only way she’d get make-up on him would be if he was drunk. At which point, Jaret had hastily offered him a glass of whatever cocktail he’d made and bottled on the Saturday before. Mynah had jumped at that idea and had released Rafael long enough for him to Apparate out. He wasn’t sure whether he should have been angry at his brother or thankful but lately Jaret had been a lot more helpful and family orientated so God only knows what had happened with his friends.

Rafael appeared at the party with a loud, clear pop and it unsettled him a little. He was already disgruntled but the last thing he wanted to do was draw attention to himself. Thankfully no one really looked his way and that gave Rafael enough time to gather some composure. He cleared his throat and disposed of the tie Mynah had, had him wear. He unbuttoned the first two buttons on his shirt and with a quick bit of magic, transfigured the tie into a set of cufflinks. He quickly switched the sets over and put the older ones in his blazer pocket. He felt like an idiot but he felt like a bigger idiot for letting Mynah attack him with clothing he didn’t even know that he owned. He probably didn’t. The clothes hadn’t been washed before; he could feel it, which meant that his loving but idiotic sister had gone out and bought something for him.

The awkwardness that seemed to overcome Rafael was of his own creation. He didn’t know anyone present apart from Sophia who he could see not too far away from where he was stood. He knew one person and that was his own fault. Rafael now understood why Mynah got so irritated with him when he didn’t have any friends over for the summer like their siblings did. Sometimes it actually made him wonder who the elder sibling was because she mothered him like crazy.

Rafael looked around a little bit more, playing idly with the button on his blazer has he did so. It was early evening, not even dark yet, and everyone was socialising away. Rafael just stood there, making no move to go and speak to anyone and his body language was screaming leave me alone. But despite the elegant, groomed and perfected way of keeping people out, Rafael still found himself wondering whether someone would be brave enough to speak to him or not.

Jess smiled and waved as the first of the guests arrived, pleased they'd made it, and found the place alright. He watched as Jess arrived with Jack, it'd been quite awhile since he'd seen them, disappointing really. "Hey Jess, Jack," he said with a grin, giving Jess a hug as he did so. "Long time no see," he said to them with a chuckle.

He waved at Mari as he saw her arrive and pulled out his wand, writing a small "Hello" in the air, and blowing it over to her with a smile, hitting the drinks again, she was drinking a little too much recently for his liking, which annoyed him greatly.

"Heya Soph," he called from around the dance floor, walking around to greet her with a hug. "How's it going?" he asked her, grabbing a small glass of butterbeer and drinking it quickly. "Thanks, we've been planning it for quite awhile," he said with a grin, "Wait until nighttime, it'll be even better then!" He told her with a big grin.

He turned and saw Remy Devaul across the dancefloor, taking her shoes off and hiding them under the food table, and gave a short chuckle and a wave. She was a funny girl that one, he'd have to go say hi, it'd been altogether too long, in his opinion, since they'd last spoken, or seen each other. "Hey," he shouted, just loud enough for her to hear, and adding another wave, just to make sure she saw, before he turned back to Mari and Soph. "I love Summer, don't you?" He asked, "Or am i the only one sad to be seeing it go?" he asked, chuckling

Sopia looked at Keegan and smiled. "Aw... thankyou Keegan that was sweet of you."said Sophia giving him a soft warm smile. As she turned to Mari she smiled. "Hey sis, long time no see!"said Sophia hugging her. "Thanks Mari, I must say you look beautiful tonight as well."said Sophia giving her a soft warm smile. As she turned to Samantha she smiled. "Aw... Sammy you look so pretty!"said Sophia smiling and hugging her and then let her go and turned to Jess. "Oh yeah, summers are always so much fun."said Sophia smiling and chuckling.


Sophia looked around the room for anyone else she knew as she seen Rafael who she met one day at the Leaky Cauldron she smiled and waved at him telling him hi. Sophia didn't want to bother him for he looked like he didn't want to be bothered. "If he wants to come and talk to me he can, but I'm not going to bother him when he looks like he doesn't want to talk."said Sophia to herself. "I'm going to get some punch you guys, I'll be right back."said Sophia walking over towards te punch bowl and gotten her some punch and took a drink of it. Sophia looked around once more for her parents but didn't see them anywhere about she figured they had to work late or something.

Abbey looked around as more and more people started arriving in the field. She noticed a couple of people she knew before walking over to the snack table. She hadn't eaten anything that day specifically so she could indulge on all the fantastic food that was being served. The table was decorated with party streamers and such, while lanterns hung all around the meadow. Abbey took in her surroundings, noticing that the grass was speckled with flowers in pastel colors from pink to green.

She picked up a butterbeer from a tray that was sitting on the table and popped it open, taking a big swig; she was parched from her ride here on her broomstick. Abbey then grabbed two objects that looked to be brownies and bit into one before looking around again. She spotted a couple of people from her house and many other students who attended Hogwarts. The sun shone through the trees, making Abbey cover her eyes with her hand.

Just then, she spotted Sophia and Mari talking to some other people she didn't know quite well. She walked over to where they were standing and said a quiet, "Hello."

The bulk of the guest list no doubt had yet to arrive but those who were present were idly mingling among themselves. As Rafael observed them his body language changed. His shoulders lost some of their tension and he seemed to relax a little but he still looked unapproachable to a degree. Rafael’s eyes went back to where Sophia was stood just in time for her to smile, wave and mouth ‘Hi’. Rafael returned the smile with a lopsided grin and he waved lightly. His eyes drifted up towards the floating lanterns and he remembered why he loved magic. They looked wonderful and some fireflies were already bouncing among them and Rafael expected a great many to join the others as the night wore on and the party truly began.

When his eyes settled back down to normal human height level, Rafael looked over to the table the punchbowl was sat on and he saw Sophia. He smiled a little to himself and walked across the grass to the table was. He stopped beside Sophia and looked at her. “You look beautiful, Miss Lestrange.” Rafael complimented. He picked up one of the umbrella’s that would be sat in the glasses and he twirled it around between his thumb and forefinger. With a little bit of Transfiguration changed and instead of the umbrella, Rafael held a sprig of Cherry Blossom. They were much more delicate than roses and in his opinion much more beautiful. Rafael held the sprig out for Sophia to take and smiled. “Flowers for the pretty lady..”

Sophia turned towards Rafael and smiled when he told she looked beautiful tonight. "Why thankyou Rafael, that was sweet of you but I must say you look very handsome tonight."said Sophia softly. Before she knew it Rafael stood before her holding a beautiful spring of cherry blossoms. "Oh Rafael, there beautiful I love them!"said Sophia hugging him and then smelling them. "There more delicate than roses and in my opinion more beautiful and thankyou once again that was very sweet of you."said Sophia softly.

"So um... how are you? I been awhile since we talked to each other last."said Sophia softly smiling at the memory of her and him talking at the leaky cauldron. Sophia thought she never told anyone her darkest secrets before and telling Rafael was no problem for he understood her completely. Sophia looked up at the floating lanterns and the fireflies and smiled for it looked so beautiful. "Wow... it looks so beautiful!"sxaid Sophia softly as she kept looking up at the sky. As she looked back at Rafael she smiled. 'So would yo like to dance or something?"Sophia asked him softly.
