OOC: Nick, why don't you experiment with trying to become comfortable with writing longer posts? There are a lot of us who use our posts to try to improve our general writing skills, such as making the posts longer, trying to improve our grammar and punctuation, and all sorts of other writing challenges. Its a good time to learn new skills!
"Thank you," Khaat smiled with a slight laugh. Ronata just knew her far too well. She looked at Nick. "I'm a bit of a coffee addict, I"m afraid," Khaat said to him. "As for the bakery department, yes. everything on that menu changes according th the season and what the fruits and vegetables are like locally. As for the coffees, we brew several different kinds of coffee here continuously. Regular, Decaffeinated, some sort of a flavored coffee, Espresso, and French Roast. Do you drink coffee? It is certainly not a requirement of the job, but you should know the differences between them so that you can be informed when you talk to the customers.
"Today's flavor is Pecan Pie," Robert told her.
"That means it is a black coffee--no cream or sugar, and the beans have been already soaked in a special liquor to flavor the coffee. Pecan Pie is one of the favorites here--The beans have been soaked in pecan and caramel flavorings to give it the taste of a piece of pecan pie. We grind all our own beans here so the coffee tastes as fresh as we can get it.
"The regular and decaffeinated coffees are Ethiopian blends so that they have a richer flavor, without being bitter. The espresso is a blend we import from Italy. It is extremely dark and strong and is brewed by hand, one cup at a time. The espresso cups are the tiny ones behind the counter that look like toy cups and saucers. Espresso is so strong that it is only served in a 4 ounce size. It is served with a twist of lemon and one of our homemade small sugar cubes. That's the traditional way someone drinks espresso. French roast, on the other hand...."
"Requires a cast iron stomach," Robert interrupted. "French roast is a very black, very strong coffee. Take regular coffee, put it on steroids, and you pretty much have french roast. You will probably never see Khaat without a coffee cup in her hand, and it will always have a cup of french roast in it--extra strong, black, no cream, no sugar. You'll be learning how to make cappuchinos, lattes, machiatos, chai teas and a whole menu full of hot drinks."
