Class Five - N.E.W.T.

Alester slipped into the classroom with his robes flowing behind him and fluttering gently around him as he came to a sudden stop, he was perceivably late and this was not a good thing. He had misread the classroom and had wandered down the wrong end of a moving stairway resulting in just missing the beginning of class. He had arrived in time to hear the instructions, and approached the professor holding out his excuse notice; a folded parchment detailing that he had just arrived at Hogwarts as a new student. My apologies professor, I will be certain not to be late to your lesson again; however the moving staricases do prove a difficulty to finding classes on ones first day. I, Alster Thoth Crowley, cry your pardon, sir, his mellefluous voice was sincere and he bowed his head slightly in penance and greeting as to make his mother proud for her teachings on humility and respect to superiors. He hated being late and the lesson seemed to be one he would thoroughly enjoy. He could only hope for a reprieve or a small penalty for his slight lateness.

Subastian walked into the class looking very tired and worn down not paying attention to the professor as he sat on in a chair then looked up at the board wondering what they were learning today. He sighed and then looked down as he knew he would probably fail this time again but he could only hope he wouldn't.

''People are late? What a strange thing to see.'', he commented, ironically. ''You new boy, if I am correct, take a seat and Haversham... try to use non-verbal Transfiguration this time. You know your tasks... get to them.'', he said.

(DEADLINE: Tomorrow)

''An easy task.'', Arthur commented. The fish was inside the aquarium, which meant the he had to transfer it out of it very quickly. He pointed his wand at the small red fish and concentrated firmly on a bird. He flicked his wands and the fish started to morph. Its front flippers started to morph into wings and its back flippers into legs. Its tail became a small yellow tail and the rest of the bird transformed into a canary. He quickly levitated the bird out of the aquarium and put it inside the bird cage, along with the other bird.

He then looked at the other bird and concentrated into a fish. This was a more challenging task and he had to be much more quicker. He flicked his wand and the orange-brown bird inside the cage started to morph in the same was as the fish did, only opposite. In a few moments, a small clown fish fell on the floor of the cage. He grabbed it with his hand and quickly put it into the aquarium. In a few moments, after adapting, the little clown fish started to swim around. Arthur smiled. ''Done, professor.'', he said.

''Good Mr. Poe. Quick, efficient and correct. Twenty points for Gryffindor. Why 20? Because you perform two tasks. If you do the fish well, 10 points and if you do the bird well, another 10 points. You really do make an old professor happy, unlike some of you who are late. But, sadly, Miss Lyons is not here with us today and I will not have the pleasure of seeing her brilliant skills at work. But then again, Miss Diggory and Miss Fey... you won't disappoint an old man, won't you?'', he commented with a smile.

Mariana raised an eyebrow at Professor McCoy. Like he didn't already know she was poor at this subject though she obsereved carefully what Arthur did trying to memorize it. She drawn her wand out of her pocket pointing it at aquarium with fish using Arthur's same moves and tried to focus on the fish. It took her a couple of good minutes to streight up her concetration and transfer the poor thing into a bird levitating her out of the aquarium putting it on her shoulder feeling sorry to tranform her back into fish. "I wish i could let you fly away fishy.." she said going with her hand gently through bird's head though she knew it couldn't understand her.

She concetarted back into bird looking as it slowly became a fish again. She quickly put the fish into aquarium and sighed sitting back down on her chair returning to her passive state.

Subastian sighed and pointed his wand at the fish concentrated hard on making it a bird. It took him several minutes before the fish finally became a bird. He took it out of the water and placed it into the bird cage then concentrated rather hard again. He was pointing his wand at the other bird as it very slowly morphed into a fish, the legs became the tail of the fish. He had it almost into a fish when his concentration broke, the fish had a beak still and he put it in the water quickly. Subastian concentrated again making the beak dissappear and finally making it into a fish. He sighed softly looking at the fish then the bird, 'Making the fish into a bird was easier than making it into a fish.' He thought putting his wand down.

Alester nodded to teh Professor. new boy indeed; how he loathed the title, having never worn it before. His first institutional experience and he already felt the outcast. At least the task was not out of his experience.

He bowed his head curtly to the Professor to indicate he acknowledged the direction and took a seat with birdcage and fishbowl. He drew out the lovers tarot card and concentrated. He used the justaposition of the two characters on the card to direct his magick and concentrated on both the objects before him. With a grin and a flash of light his cage now held a flopping fish, and his tank had a very angry bird who flitted into the air with Alester just barely catching it in time and opening the cage to stuff in the bird; who had nipped his finger drawing blood; and grab the fish to plop it into the tank.

He looked up to see how the remainder of the class had fared. He could only hope he would be understood for his use of "wand" as his medium entailed the cards as focuser over the piece of wood he carried at his hip... his eyes flashed turquoise silver in delight of having sucessfully transfigured the items and at the taste of blood from his finger.

''For those of you who have done your tasks, brilliant and thank you. For those of you who haven't... a failing grade. Since you have been so good to be active on my classes, you will have the exam a class earlier. Do practice your non-verbals because you will have a practical exam net class. And an imaginative one, indeed. Class dismissed.'', McCoy said.
