Robert frowned at her. He could tell she was understanding the concept, but wasn't letting go of her guilt. "Emily, the only way to have stopped that whole situation was by what Khaat did in killing your uncle. And you are just too young to be expected to even know how to use a killing curse. Let it go. This was completely an adult matter. "

"okay." emily said looking up at robert again. "im sorry." this elderly man was so much like a grandfather but emily didn't know it never haveing known her grandparents. she couldn't tell you waht it was like to have one let alone how they should act.

"Don't apologize," Robert said, "She's your family--your only surviving family. It's normal to feel drawn to her, even now in her current state. But let me give you this to think about. Some of the best families are not liked together by the blood that flows through their veins. They are linked together by something much more important. They are liked by the heart. Love is the strongest, most important thing in this world. It is the oldest magic we know of, and is always the most powerful. It isnt who you're related to that makes you a family. Its who you love. And its an ideal situation when those two things come together. But if it doesn't, follow your heart when you're able, and as much as you're able. You have a wonderful family with Khaat, and she loves you as much as any biological mother could. Put your energy and your heart into that, and not into Diyanne at this point. If and when she recovers, you can still have a relationship with her, but, believe me, you are far better with Khaat at this point."

Emily smied at Robert then huged him. "thanks" she said knowing what he said was true. well all but the part about dlyanne being her only surviving family. she could have a sibbling out there. she put her hand in her back pocket wher she keep the picture that gave her hope of a sibling that could be out there some wher
