By the Lake

Albus was sitting by the lakeside, leaning against a tree with a book on his lap, reading. The weather wasn't so great, chilly and windy, yet Albus was out here to stay away from other people. Lately he wasn't in a great mood. Besides the fact that he was so busy with homework and quidditch, he was feeling lonely of late. His best friend and cousin, Rose Weasley, was avoiding him for some reason lately. It was odd for someone like Albus, one of the more popular people at the campus, to be alone on a weekend like this.

Jamie was wishing she was sitting by the lake. Her golden hair was pressed up on the wall of the castle's History of Magic classroom. Her eyes were misted over with lack of sleep and it seemed that the magical clock on the wall was moving extra slow just so the time before her favorite time of day was to come. Next she had a free block followed by lunch, over a hour and a half all to herself. RINGGG a sharp bell rang in her head. RINGGG a sharp bell ran throughout the classroom. Happily Jamie packed up her bag and ran down the stone steps and out the entrance hall. Over the sloaping lawns she ran, her robes flying behind her and threatining to tangle around her feet. More than anthing she hoped to see James but luck was not in her favor today, the huge lawns were James free. As Jamie scaned the lawn she noticed someone with simular features to Jame's. Albus. Jame's brother. Smiling Jamie headed over to him.

Albus stretched and got up, he was tired of sitting down and reading and was feeling like walking a bit. As he turned, he saw someone walking towards him. He recognized her as his brothers girl friend, yet he hadn't ever even spoken to her. His first impressions: she was good looking, and seemed nice. But they could be nothing more than friends of course. "Hey," he said as she came closer. "Your Jamie aren't you?"

JAmie was now standing close enough to have a comfortable conversation. She was overjoyed that Albus had spoken to her first. Jamie was horrible at first impressions and seeing as she really loved James it would be important to make a good start with Albus. "The one and only" Jamie said smiling, holding out her hand to Albus.

Albus had probably been shy once upon a time, but six years in Hogwarts had cured that, and he no longer was scared of meeting new people. Still, he hesitated a bit before shaking her hand, not sure exactly why. He let go quickly too. "I'm Albus, though I'm sure you know that already," he said with a smile. He wasn't probably quite as famous as his father had been, but he was still well known around campus.

Albus's hand felt warm in hers and when he let go it left a strange tingling sensation behind. "Of course, Potter's son" Jamie said with a smile. "I've been luckey enough to meet your brother too". It was funny to watch Albus, in many ways his movements somewhat mirrored James's. They talked in sort of the same way, and by god they had the same nose. Thinking of James was somewhat painful now, she had not seem him for a long time. "I'm Jamie Prophet" she said with a smile, mocking his voice she said "but I'm sure you knew that"

Albus laughed when she said that she had been lucky enough to meet his brother too. But then his expression changed, just for a moment, he felt rather jealous of his brother. Jamie was gorgeous, his brother had always gotten all the girls. Albus.. well he was far too shy. "Of course I do, your dating by brother right?" he said, just confirming that.

"Yeah" Jamie said a foolish grin flooding over her face. In the next second her face changed. For a moment the thought had occured to Jamie, what if Albus had someone? There was no reason for that to bug Jamie. Jamie had James, and that was all she needed, forever. However the feeling of unese remained. "What about you?" Jamie asked keeping her voice cheerful "You got someone?"

Jamie's question made Albus frown slightly, before changing his expression to a more blank one. "No... I don't," Albus said. It hadn't worried him before, but now, suddenly after meeting Jamie, it did seem to matter. He felt jealous of his brother, and this surprised Albus, as he usually didn't mind stuff like that. He wanted to change the subject, but he couldn't think of anything to say really.

"Soo.." Jamie said as the akward silance for a akward ammount of time. "your Slytherin seeker, right" changing the subject. Jamie had been avoiding the subject of quidditch after her horrible preformance in the first Ravencalw vs. Slytherin match. Another one was coming up and a burning disire to run to to Cristabelle and quit was overpowering her.
