Khaat opened the door for them and had them come in quickly. "I'm sorry to get you out, Jess," Khaat said. "Have a seat." She had made some ice tea for them--her father's blend, and she had added some cinnamon and orange to give it a wam comforting flavor while it eased anxiety--and she knew if the babies got anxious by travelling by portkey, this would stop it. "Drink some of the iced tea, Jess, "Khaat said. "It will help before you get to the end of the first glass." She handed her a glass and handed one to Jack.
" I asked you two here because you're both Order members, and I don't know if I can trust Wilson right now. Jess sent us on a mission to Tom Riddle's old homestead in Little Hangleton. I found some very interesting things there that I originally asked Jess Potter to keep at Order headquarters, but I'm not sure they'd be safe there if Wilson cannot be trusted. I want you to see them and tell me what you think."
"First--look at this." She drew out the key, the silver box that was lined inside with pure quartz crystals, and the enourmous piece of hematite--about the size of a cake of soap. "I think they all work together. I think they're designed to energize and supercharge perhaps the last of Voldemort's horcrux. The quartz and the hematite would do that, and I think it's, basically, turned on, when the key is put into the lock."
Then she spilled out her huge leather tote bag, filled with pure quartz crystals and hematite. "And these were just laying around in the yard, the flowerbeds and the garden. I don't think that these stones woud just naturally be laying on top of the ground in the yard in this part of the country, and certainly not in this quantity. There's something not at all right about this. Check this out and tell me what you think."
