Aftermath

Amelia listened quietly from her position in the shadows to the account by her fellow Imperium Squad member James Wake, who seemed to have been able to make a far more thorough report than her mental recollections. If she had had the time, Amelia presumed she would have done something much like this to prevent the slippage of her memory, but after the attacks were over a particularly distressed first-year boy had attached himself to her leg and cried incessantly for several hours. Not being very good at comforting or coming up with a way to detach herself, Amelia had been stuck with the sniveling thing until he finally pulled himself together and she was able to return him to the Hufflepuff common room.

The evidence of the boy’s leakage of bodily fluids from eyes and nose was still evident on her jeans by a few dark spots that had definitely not been there this morning. Wrinkling her nose and turning her eyes away from this, Amelia saw Elijah enter the room and she nodded in his direction. She would have to find him later to thank him for the shield he had thrown in front of her, but now was not the time or place.

Instead, Amelia spoke up from her place against the wall, loud enough to be heard but not so much so that anyone might confuse her for the leader of the Imperium Squad. Her recollections were going to pale in comparison to Mr. Wake’s, but she was obligated to provide her account.

“I was in the Great Hall when the disturbance occurred,” Amelia began, “And after arriving in the entrance hall to investigate I found several professors and students slinging spells toward a shrouded figure who was holding one female student hostage, bound to a chair upon which he stood for much of the time I observed him. I did not linger for long in the entrance hall – too many cooks in the kitchen, I believe is the saying – and instead followed the instructions of Professor Lupin to go and escort the students in the Great hall to safety. I will not pretend that this task was more noble than fighting the intruders, but I believe anyone who saw the mental and emotional states of the students gathered there might be able to attest to the fact that it might have been equally difficult. I organized the exit and removed those students who were injured, summoning healers after they were in a safe area.”

Her report had been succinct, which is how most of her words and explanations usually were, but it contained all necessary details. Now, Amelia waited for the response of her professors and peers, whose eyes had fallen on her during her brief explanation.

Vincent sighed as Jess Potter further made a fool of himself and the staff infront of the imperium squad members. "Stop taking this as a joke Potter! Students may have died from this attack, it is a massive breach to our security! And not only that, but the worst thing is, that someone inside the castle helped the attackers do this!" Vincent said in a loud and angry voice. He didn't usually lose his cool or use a tone like that, usually speaking in a low and measured tone, but right now he was just shocked at Potter's behaviour. "And I need to know what happened in detail because this is an event which requires close inspection."

And the worst thing was, Khaat and Potter's attitude showed that they didn't even care that Vincent was trying to at least help the students. They probably were allied with Ne'os and the others. So they were against Hogwarts now, just because Vincent was the headmaster. It was sick, really. Their lack of interest in one of the biggest tragedies on the campus since the Battle of Hogwarts. Some may say he was being paranoid, but the simple fact of the matter was, that someone had helped Ne'os come in, and someone had helped him escape.

Turning, he listened to Wakes and Lyons account of the happening calmly. "I know the number of injured students Wake," he started. "Your report is useful, but I would like to know, what were the teachers who were their doing to help? I know for one that Professor Potter, Lupin, Dent and Lestrange were there. What were they doing?" He asked Wake, before turning to Amelia.

"Of course, your efforts seem to have prevented many more student injuries, which is extremely useful," Vincent acknowledged. "Someone of course, had to help the students as the staff were clearly not doing the best job."

"Including yourself," he said bluntly. "Your first goal should've been to get downstairs and see what was happening, not to fight someone. You sent students to do your job. Which is plan disgusting if you ask me." he said. "Yes, someone let them in, no we don't know who that is, maybe you should have someone guarding the doors?" he suggested. "The order used to do that, before you took your job, but now we don't, perhaps if we'd been there this would've been sorted out at the gates?" he suggested. "Now, you criticise me, yet i was the one who opened the escape door, i fought Emof, prooving that i didn't know it was him till i contacted him via legilimens, shortly before you entered. So i would just stop it if i were you, obviously we've been through alot, and you're not making it any better. If you hate the order so much, why not sack everyone in it? And lose three quaters of your staff with it?" He said, looking at schackelbolt. "If you weren't so blinded by your distrust, maybe you would see we wanted to protect the school, and you stopped that!" he said, loosing his mood for a moment

"Vincent," Khaat said quietly, "I was the one who stood between Emof and the students so I could throw a shield in front of them. I begged Emof not to hurt them. Professor Dent came to aide me and helped me strengthen my shield. I was the one who told Lyons to take the students out of the castle and gather in the yard. I took a huge bunch of them to safety in Hogsmeade at the Three Broomsticks where kindly townspeople helped me calm them and care for them, tend to any wounds, feed them--whatever their needs were. I need you to put your prejudices against me aside long enough to see that I did, in fact, do my level best to protect a great many students from harm.

Vincent narrowed his eyes at Jess' speech. Had he not been short on staff members, this moment Jess would be fired. "Professor Potter, please, I know I'll lose some of my staff, but I have no objection in firing you if you don't behave yourself in front of the headmaster," Vincent said. "And try to use the brain god has gifted us all with Potter. Shacklebolt came up to my office to try to kill me, how could I escape and go downstairs to help the students?" Vincent asked calmly, rather surprised at how Jess hadn't thought of that. "Don't tell me again that I do not have the students best interests in my heart Potter. I didn't force the squad to go to the entrance hall either, they went because they wanted to help the students."

"As for my distrust, you can't blame me. All 3 of the members who attacked were once in the order, and 2 were still in the order a couple months ago. And some of you have worked against the minsitry in the past, which means you may work against me too," he replied, shrugging.

try to learn from the little kids guys. Your all supposed to call me headmaster, not Vincent. Its quite annoying.

Jess also shrugged. "You said earlier that you told the imperium squad to go down there, don't give me any more of your bull, i don't want it." He said calling majere's bluff, "Anyway you wont be here much longer," he muttered bitterly

ooc: khaat has no intention of calling your character headmaster, vincent because she does not believe your character genuinely earned it. sorry about that!

"Vincent, with all due respect, would you just, for once get over yourself? This is not about you. This is about this school and the safety of the students. For goodness sakes. I have never seen anyone in the headmaster's seat act so vulnerable and paranoid. If you act responsibly and honorably, you will have nothing to worry about. When we see you do that, we might support you."

OoC:Matt doesn't want to accept him as his boss so Majere is what he prefers...

Matt laughed loudly and Jess's comment. He looked at Jess and grinned, Careful Jess, you'll puncture his ego. he said grinning. If that happens Hogwarts will blow up!! he grinned looking at Majere.

Jess chuckled and shook his head. "Quiet," he said to them, lookingat majere, and looking weary all of a sudden. "Look headmaster," he said quietly, "We're loyal to the school, and we will do whatever is needed to protect the school from crooks, and baddies," he said, dumbing it down a bit. "The way i see it, the school needs defending fom the outside, and we shouldn't have to keep looking over our shoulders to our fellow staff members. A little trust would be appreciated," he said
