Welcome to Potter's Army

We have been a Harry Potter Roleplaying site since 2007. If you're an old member we hope you come check out the discord link provided below. And if you're looking for a new roleplaying site, well, we're a little inactive. But every once and a while nostalgia sets in and a few of our alumni members will revisit the old stomping grounds and post together. Remember to stay safe out there. And please feel free to drop a line whenever!

What’s Happening?
Since every few months or so a few of our old members get the inspiration to revisit their old stomping grounds we have decided to keep PA open as a place to revisit old threads and start new ones devoid of any serious overarching plot or setting. Take this time to start any of those really weird threads you never got to make with old friends and make them now! Just remember to come say hello in the chatbox below or in the discord. Links have been provided in the "Comings and Goings" forum as well as the welcome widget above.

Dane entered the Leaky Cauldron with a big smile. He looked over at the Bartender and knew him as Matt Lestrange. He walked over ordered a glass of butterbeer and walked over to a table. He pulled out a book and began to read, taking sips of his butterbeer every once and a while.

Jemma walked into the Leaky Cauldron. It had been a hard weekend. She would have to leave back for Hogwarts tonight or the following morning. The next morning seemed more likely, at this rate. She got a firewhiskey from the bar. She needed it.

Jemma walked over to a table and sat down to drink her drink. She noticed a man sitting at the table next to her. Wow! Someone my own age. Usually I'm always the oldest by far in the room. Everyone seems so young nowadays... She realised she was staring at the guy. She smiled at him. Yay! I'm the weird smiling one.

Dane looked up from his book and noticed another women around his age sitting down. He looked her over and grinned, she looked good for someone of her age. But he wasn't going to make any assumptions and assume she was 50. It might be rude if she wasn't. He quickly looked away when she turned her head.

Jemma noticed him turning his head out of the corner of her eye. Well, at least I'm not the only one. She wondered how long this awkwardness would last. She became impatient. She turned towards him. "Hello, I'm Jemma." she introduced herself. I hope he doesn't think it's bad I introduced myself just like that...but it was just going to be awkward. Should I have asked him to sit with me? I don't know.

Dane looked up from his book with a smile. She had broken the awkwardness and introduced herself. "Hi Jemma, I'm Dane." he said with a grin. "Would you care to sit with me?" he asked putting his book down.

Jemma smiled. Yes! I did the right thing, after all. It's not awkward anymore. Thank Merlin. Well, at least it's not awkward for me. "Nice to meet you, Dane." she politely replied with the standard greeting. "And yes, I would like to join you." she added, getting up and moving herself with her firewhisky to the other chair on Dane's table.

Should I say something? Should I not? I guess I should. I mean, last time I did and it broke the awkwardness. So I should this time. But what? Just a general how are you? That seems boring. Everything I've said is boring. What could be more interesting? But I don't want to be too personal. Ahh! "Uhm, so how are you?" Jemma asked, giving in. She couldn't have possibly asked anything more generic. It was physically impossible. Why did I say that? How stupid could I be, really? Who knows, silence could have been better...

He smiled when she sat down in front of him, he put his book away. She was nice, well at least from her profile at the moment. He had been a good judger at first looks though, that happens over the years. "I'm really really good" he said. 'What about you?"

Dane put his book away. It's like he actually wants to talk to me or something. "I'm good, I suppose. Just enjoying a last night of relaxation before work tomorrow." she told him, thinking of school the next day. She loved her job, but it did get a little overwhelming at times - she wasn't the kind of person who liked being around people 24/7. What to ask next? Maybe about his job...he probably works in London, as he's down here. Maybe St. Mungo's or the Ministry? "Do you work in London?" she asked, trying to be as open-ended as possible.

[b]"Yes, I do." he said taking a gulp of his butterbeer. "I work at the Ministry, an Auror' He said proudly. He didn't want to show off, it'd seem like he was coming on too strong. "So you work at the school I take it?" he said with a grin.

An Auror. Wow. That takes...a lot. Being an Auror was one of the hardest professions to get into. You needed to be above average at pretty much everything. He must be really smart, brave, etc. I doubt I could ever do something like that. "An Auror. Nice." Jemma simply said, keeping her thoughts to herself. "Yeah, I work at Hogwarts. Divination Professor and Head of Hufflepuff." she told him. This will be interesting. Divination is one of those subjects that people will either be really impressed with or look down upon. I wonder which type of person he is.
