N.E.W.T. lesson 3 and 4

Gabrielle grabbed a jar from under her desk and put it in visible position.It contained 3 spiders of normal size. "So we could start with demonstrating the spell." she said as she thought "Engorgio" to make spider a bit bigger and then with her wand already pointed at it she said loud and clear "Imperio." she said as spider stop moving. "Now let me see i could make him climb on the lamp." she said as it climbed on the lamp.

"Okay that was just a small demonstration you will expirience it on next class since we have a double class today." she said as she made spider small again and put him back in the jar. "That leads us to 2nd unforgivable curse.Can someone repeat what Mister Poe said about it?" she asked as she scanned through the classroom.

Sophia raised her hand after she got finshed writing down her notes she was taking and waited for Professor Delacour to call on her. Sophia knew alot about the Unforgivables Curses for she read all about even though she never uses any of them. Sophia never really had a reason to use for they were illegal to use anyway. As she kept her hand raised she waited for Professor Delacour to call on her to explain what Poe just said. ophiawanted to get some points for Gryffindor which was in second place now it was time to get them back into first and Sophia will do all she can to help them.

Gabrielle looked as the first hand flew in the air.Another one from Gryffindor. was the first thing she thought.She thought that knowledge is more Rawenclaw characteristic then any else so it made her wonder if she chosen the write house 18 years ago when she was studying here. "Yes Ms Granger i know you know the answer so inlight us." she said as she focused on her slightly tapping the spider jar.

"Thankyou Professor."said Sophia as she put her handd down. "The second Unforgivable Curse is Crucio in another word also known as the Cruciatus Curse."said Sophia taking a deep breath before continuing. "The Cruciatus Curse inflicts unbearable pain on the recipient of the curse. The effects of the curse depend upon the desires and emotions of the character – to produce the "excruciating" pain implied by the name, one must desire to cause pain purely for its own sake or for fulfilment. The extreme pain inflicted by the curse when cast so – without any apparent evidence of physical harm – makes it uniquely suited as a form of torture. This pain has included the sensations of flaming bones and a head that was split open by crude methods without sedation."said Sophia softly.

Gabrielle listened carefully. "Yeah that would be the entire answer Ms Granger. 5 points for Gryffindor." she said being pleased by Sophia's knowledge of the topic. "Now i am sure some of you already expirienced or had some close relative expiriencing this curse.Crucio is the best way of torture." she said taking a spider out of the jar. "Now here's a tricky question.If i wanted to demonstrate the curse on his spider tell me why i won;t be able to?" she asked looking to see if anyone payed attention.

''There could be two reasons... first, you do not have the desire to cause the spider pain, and second, and more objective, is the fact that spiders only posses the central nervous system, which controls the brain and the spinal cord, while the pain receptors, which are activated with the curse, form a part of the peripheral nervous system. The second reason is more likely to be true.'', Arthur said.

Gabrielle listened to Arthur's theory and it seemed rather well thought. Though that theory wasn't excatly true. "Let's come back to your first reason Mr.Poe." she said as she tried to detail it a bit. "If i don't trully desire to torture this spider i won't be able to do it because this curse has this will issue. Though your 2nd theory seems intresting Mr.Poe it's actually more biological. And spiders DO feel pain only they can't say it can they..Nevertheless another 5 points forGryffindor.: she said as she let the 2nd spider go and grabbed the 3rd one from the jar.

"Now for the last of unforgivable curses...the killing curse." she said as she had her wand pointed at the spider. "The killing curse more commonly known as Avada Kedavra causes an instand death.Some of you may expirienced it already." she said as she raised her wand and pointed at the helpless spider. "Avada Kedavra!" she said as the spider fell dead in her hand.

"Now i think we can start demonstarting the Imperius curse on volonteers.That is untill Wilson comes which is going to be any minute now." she said as she peeked at her wrist watch. "So would anyone like to try it?I promise it won't hurt." she asked as she sat down.

''Of course it wont. Imperio is, when used by sane people, a pretty harmless curse and definitely painful. We shall not talk about the morality of the act itself, but as I have said, the curse is pretty harmless.'', Wilson said entering the classroom.

''My dear Miss Delacour, I do hope you had a pleasant day. For those of you that do not know me and that have not taken my, now canceled, Muggle Studies class, I am professor James William Wilson and I shall be teaching you Defense Against the Dark Arts for an uncertain period of time. Maybe... even forever.'', he said symbolically.

''Gabrielle, is there anything you wish to add or can I continue? You are, of course, free to stay until I dismiss the class and see how they have absorbed the theory of Unforgivable Curses.'', Wilson said.

Gabrielle looked as Professor Wilson entered the classroom.She was at least glad to leave her class in good hands. "That is correct.I should have mentioned i am going to be replaced,but i prefered for it to stay a surprise." she said confirming what James just said.

"Hi James.I wish i was able to stay,but unfortunatly my schedule was getting tighter all the time.But i am glad to leave my class in your capable hands." she said as she put her wand back in her robe. "Anyway students b pay attention to Professor Wilson's lectures and i'll be gone from Hogwarts from now on.And i don't have anything else to add so see you Wilson and good luck." she said as she walked out the door.

Belle watched at Professor Delacor walked from the room and could not help but sigh. So many classes cancled and so much staff replaced and dismissed, she was beginning to wonder if Hogwarts would ever be the same again. She turned her attention to Professor Wilson and raised her hand, even as she spoke.

"Beg pardon sir, I was just curious if we were going to continue with the volonteers?" She asked.
