Amelia's working her way down the stairs from Ravenclaw tower, was having a difficult time making it down the steps because she couldn't see where she was going. In her arms was a pile of books she needed for her classes today, and her bag was already bulging with other library books and school supplies.
This is nonsense, Amelia thought as she nearly ran into a group of hufflepuffs on their way up the steps. Shifting the books to one arm, Amelia rummaged in her robe pockets to pull out her wand, running it along the spines of the books while reciting the incantation that would compact them. Seconds later, the many volumes had been replaced by a single book, which she could expand later to access the information.
No longer inhibited, Amelia tucked the remaining book under her arm and flew down the steps to the transfiguration classroom, glad to see that she was among the first students to arrive. She nodded politely to Professor McCoy before taking a seat next to a Slytherin boy she recognized as a Potter. He was in a few of her other classes, but she had never spoken to him before. This was actually quite common: people she knew things about but had never formally met.
