visiting the headmaster

Khaat was never sure about visiting with Majere. And she found it unusual to be asking for his help. However, desperate situations sometimes called for desperate measures. And it was to the ministry's advantage not to have any more young, abandoned witches or wizards, especially in light of recent developments with the death eaters. It was worth a try, anyway.

Khaat went up the tower and knocked on his door.

Majere looked up as he heard someone knock on the door. His eyes narrowed, wondering who it would be who would come without an appointment. Whoever it was was disturbing his work. With the minister ill, he had to manage most of his work, and it was proving difficult. "Who is it?" he asked coldly.

"Khaat Lupin," Khaat replied, "I need to speak to you. It is important." Khaat knew Majere did have a lot on his plate right now, but she was hoping a moment of his time was all she would need.

Vincent looked up as he heard the voice through the door. He smiled slightly. He disliked Khaat, hated her even, but he knew she could be useful to him. He had sort of given up trying to get her to change his opinion of him, but now it seemed like she needed something from him. Or maybe not, that was just his guess. "Very well, enter."

Khaat opened the door and went in, closing the door behind her. "Thank you," she said. "I know you and I do not see eye to eye on many things. But I do know that it is in the best interest of the ministry to not have any more of the area's children disappearing. In that much we do agree. It is that reason why I have come. I would like to see if I can get some assistance from the ministry in locating a former Hogwarts student who now is the only surviving family member for a young girl who was living on the streets just this morning. I think we can both agree that the streets fo ra young girl, with all the trouble from the death eaters is a very dangerous thing. I need some help to find her family."

"Direct to the point I see," Vincent said coolly. "But first, take a seat." He gestured to the seat in front of her as he eyed her coldly. "I would first like to correct you that I do not care about children dissapearing, my intentions are to stop the kidnappings of Hogwarts Students from the campus by death eaters. Random young girls homeless on streets are not my problem but the minister's, so I think you should take this to Gabrielle Delacour instead. Now next, now that you have understood that, we can move on. Who is this young girl? And what does she mean to you?"

Khaat chose the one of the chairs in front of the desk. "I did not say you did not care. In fact, I acknowledged that I thought it did matter to you and that it was at least one area on which we can agree. As for the girl, I just met her today. I have met her sister on one occasion. Just by coincidence--in London. Her sister is a graduate from Hogwarts, so she should not be that hard to find.

"Not that it is important, but aside from Miseria, which I know you realize I have adopted her, I have 2 other homeless teens living with me. There is a lot of death eater activity lately, and I will not have young teens living on the streets in these times. That's what she is to me. I simply care about these youngsters and their safety. As I said, we do agree on that.

"The girl's name is Emily Brown. Her sister is Diyanne West. I do know you have the ability to find anyone you want and to do it very quickly. I want to see her back with her family."

[sorry, wrote that wrong, he meant that he meant to tell you that in fact he does not care about random children disappearing if they are not attending hogwarts]

"Brown?" he said, recognizing the name. He waved his wand to one of the drawers and a file flew out to his hand. A file which said drop outs. "Brown... dropped out of Hogwarts last year," Vincent said looking up at Khaat after finishing reading through the file. "If she had not left the campus, then she would not be in the situation she is in right now. And you ask me to help her? Well I say, good riddance. Thats what you get for not attending Hogwarts, if Death Eaters kidnap her, she will learn her lesson well," he said, smiling as he saw Khaats expression.

"Of course, I could handle this situation this very minute, but why should I khaat? Since I do not care for the runaway child, then why would I help her? Because you are asking me?" Vincent continued to glare directly at Khaat. "Perhaps I would help you, but you have hardly been loyal or at least, respectful to me. In fact, you have only opposed me, so why should I help you?"

"As you said," Khaat said, shrugging carelessly, "Why should you?" She rose and headed for the door. "I didn't think you'd be up for the task right now. The headmaster's job must be quite overwhelming. That along with your other duties must keep you quite stretched. As for going to Ms. Delacour, no doubt she'd have come to you for the legwork anyway, if she decided to act, since it was a ministry task." She stopped at the door. "Thank you for your time." She started again for the door.

"Wait," Vincent said sharply, before she headed out the door. "Khaat, you want me to help you, with nothing in return? Why would I do that, tell me? Now, if you give something back to me, I will. And all I was asking for was for you to stop conspiring against me. Apparently you cannot do that, so I am really beginning to question how much you want to save this girl."
