N.E.W.T Class - Lesson 1, Winter Term

Robert raised an eyebrow at the two girls that seemed to have made their grand entrance. He sighed and ran a hand absent mindedly through his hair before gesturing to some desks. He wasn’t angry at the girls but he wasn’t overly impressed either. Brushing the nagging feeling of irritation off he waved his wand at another orb and addressed the young Malfoy once more.

“You’re more or less right Mr. Malfoy.” Rob smiled and nodded. “Kingsley was more active in the second war though but no matter. Arthur that is a great but I must say that Stan was fairly confused or rather to be more explicit he was under the effects of the Imperious Curse and what your past, present and future Defence teachers neglect to tell you is that only the weak-minded can be used for as long as he was. However, it is those who do have a defiance in their nature and a strong mind that can break free of said curse. If your not then I suggest avoiding any careers that interest the Death Eaters. I think perhaps a nice Ministry desk job would be more suited.

Now we’re on to the Death Eaters however, as we go along with this course we can look psychologically at the way the war was fought from both sides. I understand that this is very Muggle but it is a great way to get an insight into the mind without using Leglimency and its also pretty darn fun once you master it and you can use it on anyone.”

Daisy was at her desk and taking notes. From what Professor Dent had said, she figured that they were talking about people who were active in the wars. She scribbled down the names on the parchment as everyone named them, organising them into two columns for Hogwarts/The Order and Death Eaters. She needed good revision notes.

Psychology? Daisy was interested about this. Being a muggle-born, she knew bits about muggle things like this. She did prefer to talk about Wizarding things, she took History of Magic, after all, as opposed to Muggle Studies. Still, getting inside the head's of some of the greatest witches and wizards of all time does seem quite interesting.

After she finished writing, she lifted her head up to face the Professor, wondering what he was planning to do next.

"For now we'll pull this class to a close and I know it's a bit harsh to have Homework on the first day of class but I am being generous and giving you an easy assignment."

Rob flicked his wand and a joint picture of the Death Eaters and the Order. He stood between Voldemort and Dumbledore and smiled to himself before flicking his wand at the chalk by the board which instantly rose, ready to dictate once more.

"Pick someone, anyone, from this line up and write an essay on them. Something with detail and fact. For example, if I was going to write about the Carrows or more specifically, Alecto Carrow. I'd write about her family connections and what battles she was in - also about how she was connected to the war and whether she was in the Inner Circle of Death Eaters. I'd also probably mention her relationship with her brother and other Death Eaters."

He flicked his wand and the image flickered away. He called the orb to him and it flew to his hand. Rob put his wand back behind his ear and smiled at his class.
"It's not excruciatingly difficult guys but good luck and I'd like to see the homework in by the 24th of January if you please and any earlier submissions will naturally get a few more points. Now, do your research by looking at old newspapers and reading some textbooks. Good luck everyone! Class dismissed."
