Bad News

Khaat sat quietly at the table, remembering how terrible the murder of Remus was for her and how it had seemed to stay with her for the rest of her life. How could she expect anything different from Miseria? She sat, prepared to wait for her.

Robert had unfortunately been watching the exchange between the Hufflepuff student and Khaat. Something struck him odd though - it wasn't just something trivial like discussing late homework. There was underlining emotions there that hadn't quite made it to the surface.

Robert sat the Hufflepuff girl rush out of the hall and acting on instinct he got up and walked over to Khaat. Rob laid a hesitant hand on her shoulder and looked at her with worry.

"Are you alright Khaat?" he asked quietly.

"Hi, Rob, "Khaat sighed. "Bad news, I'm afraid. I was contacted by the ministry early this morning. Miseria's parents were murdered by death eaters very early this morning. Miseria has nobody left--nobody but me. I..I've invited her to stay with me. I refuse to leave her alone now. I have to contact Majere and, basically, tell him we're leaving. He might not take that well. He and I have tried to 'off' each other before. This might not go well. At any junction. Miseria has gone to pack. We're going to have to go to Transylvania to clear up her estate and the legalities of getting her a guardian. Guess that shifts my schedule for a few years." She smiled slightly at him.

Holding her big bag on her shoulder, Miseria made it to the Great Hall again after only fifteen minutes. It took five to get there, pack her stuff and come back. And all this time her face was emptionless and she was even more ignoring than before. She didn't even answer with the nodds to her.

She looked at Khaat and walked there, nodding to Robert and not saying anything else. She was afraid of it. Now, when all her emotions were hidden, she could just stay there and scream if she opens her mouth. Now she waited for Khaat to stand up and then they will leave.

Robert sighed. He knew how hard it could be to loose those you love. He hadn't experienced it too much but he could always see little glimses of his father but those were always obscured by his sister or his mother. He hated not knowing but the fact that his own father abandoned him made like for Robert oh so worse.

"Don't bother." Rob shrugged. "Majere doesn't give a damn so just leave a note on his desk and go. I feel awful for her though."

Rob was worried for Khaat. As kind hearted as she was looking after a teenager was hard work and he had first had experience with if which would probably explain a lot of the strange things that have happened to him.

"Would you mind if I accompanied you both?" he asked quietly.

"Not at all, "Khaat smiled, "I think we'd both like the company. And I think you're right. A note to Majere should suffice. " She conjured pen and parchment and wrote him a quick note. "Miseria Manson and I will not be in attendance for a few days due to the murder of Miseria's family. My apologies for any inconvenience to Hogwarts. K. Lupin"

Khaat made a wave of her hand. The pen disappeared, and the note rolled up into a scroll, and raced off to take its place on Majere's desk. "There. That should do it. I am quite sure he can find us if we have inconvenienced him."

"Do you need to pack, Rob?" Khaat asked him.

Rob smirked and shook his head before sending a small note of his own which was a bit more slap dash but had a bit of humour in it along with a few kisses on the end just to really get Majere's robes in a twist.

"I don't think so." Rob said thoughtfully. "Nothing from here at least. I'll probably have to go and get that miniature ball of fluff so it doesn't completely destroy my apartment but I guess I could pick up some stuff there."

"I plan to apparate my animals to my parents. We could send your dog along to the farm in Cornwall. My mother specializes in caring for all animals--but especially magical ones. She'd be happy to care for your dog. Maybe she'll teach him something or another, " Khaat laughed gently. "When we get off school grounds, maybe you could just apparate us to your place?"

Miseria looked at both of them and she was a bit impressed when Khaat wrote a note to Vincent. Probably he won't even care and notice that both of them are gone. And why she was writing to him? Was it nessesary? Then she looked at Robert. Once she has even talked with him.

"When will we leave?" she then asked. They were standing at the great hall and students who still were at school were staring at them. Yes, maybe they thought happily that Miseria will finally leave! But she wont. Sad for them. She desided to live with Khaat if she want's that. Though, she wanted to live with someone as well, not at the orphanage.

Rob bit his lip but nodded. He wasn't sure about leaving his dog alone - even if she was being supervised. The animal was a menace but he didn't mind letting someone else fight with her. "If that would be alright. My dog really... well she's not too great around other animals. I am pretty sure she thinks she's human."

Rob glanced at Miseria and smiled. She did seem down but that was completely understandable. Actually he'd be pretty worried if she was happy about the whole thing.
"When ever you are ready Miseria." Rob smiled.
