Mundane Chatter in Hogsmeade

Narcissa tightened her coat around her as she stepped into Hogsmeade for the first time in a while. She was thankful for the extra warmth and for once relished in the clothing that the endless amount of gold in the Malfoy vaults gave her access to.

Narcissa wandered through the little town, peering in windows and stepping inside to purchase a few things. She was grateful for the warmth of the small shops and boutiques. So grateful that she didn’t even think about who was inside when she was relishing in the heat.

Once more, Narcissa stepped out into Hogsmeade and continued to wander around with a content smile on her face, wondering what life would present her with today.

Khaat had just left a small shop where she had bought some fresh chicken cut into little pieces for Archangel, and she'd also bought a bag of fresh berries to feed him as treats. The shopkeeper had been a little taken aback by seeing a full grown bald eagle riding contentely on Khaat's shoulder, but it was his favorite spot when he wasn't flying. Khaat had tucked her purchases into a black leather shoulder bag and was feeding him berries one at a time, which he was eating with great relish. It made Khaat laugh. He was a magnificent looking bird, and she loved him with all her heart.

As she came into the next block, she saw Narcissa Malfoy, and for some reason, a part of her was almost pleased to see the beautiful woman in Hogsmeade today.

Narcissa wondered what brought on the biting chill in the air. She tightened her coat once more and walked over to a shop that, from what she heard, sold charms and other such things that would supposedly protect people. Whether or not they did was another thing but they were rather pretty and Narcissa was tempted to buy a few. However she refrained thankfully otherwise Rosalie or Susannah would find a lot of charms in their rooms, no doubt to the chagrin of Draco.

Narcissa turned and spotted none other than Khaat Lupin standing not to far from where she was stood herself. Narcissa smiled to herself and wandered over to where Khaat was. She was interested in why the young girl would travel to Hogsmeade on such a chilly day but then that question was something she could ask Narcissa. Why would she leave the warmth of the manor when she could be with Lucius for the day - well that wasn't very likely anyway but she could dream couldn't she?

"How are you Khaat?" Narcissa asked in interest, eager to know how the child she'd come to care about in an odd way.

"Buying treats for my friend, here," Khaat smiled, "I'd like you to meet Archangel. He's my rather unusual 'owl', and my very best friend. And--he likes berries." Khaat gave him another, which he snapped up and then cocked his head to the side, studying Narcissa carefully with a bit of humorous curiosity. It made Khaat laugh warmly. "He's a little spoiled," Khaat confessed.

"Oh he is very nice." Narcissa smiled at the owl in question and couldn't help but wonder what had happened to the little owl that she'd seen a few years ago in Hogsmeade. Pretty little thing but very small. Bless its heart.

"I'm sure those children of Draco's are just as spoilt but it isn't a bad thing at all as long as they're lovely to be around. Like your little owl is I am guessing."

OOC: just a note--Archangel is a huge, male bald eagle. Khaat uses him as her owl, but he's a full sized, full fledged bald eagle. he also wears a pendant that is an exact replica of the Lupin family pendant that Khaat wears--allegedly both were made by Nicolas Flamel.

"My mother raised him from a hatchling, so he is very protective and just a wonderful bird," Khaat said, "It's nice to see you here. Could Archangel and I buy you a cup of tea at the tea shop to warm up with? We could go warm up there. You look like you're shivering."

"That would be lovely." Narcissa replied, rubbing her gloved hands together, trying to push some warmth through them. "Allow me to repay you at some point though."

Khaat smiled, "You already have. Lets hope they have a table where it isn't so noisy. And I hope they have some good french roast coffee today. Sometimes their coffee is just a little weak for my tastes. But it is nice and hot, at least. "

"Coffee." Narcissa made a face. "As useful as it is I don't like drinking it often. However it is one of those times when coffee is the best source of energy. There's a little teashop over there if you wish to use that one or the Three Broomsticks is always quite quiet when the students aren't around."
