Welcome to Potter's Army

And if you're looking for a new roleplaying site, well, we're a little inactive. But every once and a while nostalgia sets in and a few of our alumni members will revisit the old stomping grounds and post together. Remember to stay safe out there. And please feel free to drop a line whenever!

What’s Happening?
Since every few months or so a few of our old members get the inspiration to revisit their old stomping grounds we have decided to keep PA open as a place to revisit old threads and start new ones devoid of any serious overarching plot or setting. Take this time to start any of those really weird threads you never got to make with old friends and make them now! Just remember to come say hello in the chatbox below or in the discord. Links have been provided in the "Comings and Goings" forum as well as the welcome widget above.

Lesson Three - Basic Level Empty Lesson Three - Basic Level

Post by James William Wilson Wed Nov 25, 2009 11:01 pm

Professor Wilson entered his classroom. He passed through the empty desks and sat on his chair. He took his wand out and pointed it at the blackboard. Suddenly, a lot of text appeared. Why? He liked to let the students copy the important information and then listen to his lesson without the worry of writing his lesson down. That causes distraction. He then pointed his wand at the desks, and a note appeared on them: ''Copy the text from the blackboard!'' It was just a note for the students who came to the class to copy the text. After all of them were finished, he would start talking. He was done so he had some time to relax before the class starts. Again the same routine, the one thing he disliked about teaching.

Abbey walked into the classroom, with a bit of a bad mood. Abbey loved studying things about muggles, but ever since Izzy had entered the class, she never got to do anything but listen to her and Professor Wilson go at it. "Morning professor." Abbey mumbled. She took a seat at the back of the classroom and pulled out an unused sheet of parchment. She copied down the boring text like she always did, then put it back in her bag and waited for the class to begin.

''Morning Miss Dawn. You seem to be disturbed? May I inquire as to what the problem is?'', Wilson asked noticing Abbey entering.

Abbey looked up from her desk as Professor Wilson said something to her. "Oh it's nothing..." Abbey said. Abbey wondered if she should tell Professor Wilson or not. She didn't want to hurt his feeling, but he seemed nice enough. "Well, actually it is something. I just wish Izzy would quit disrupting the class! It's really getting on my nerves!" Abbey huffed. She felt much better now that she had told Professor Wilson what was troubling her.

Wilson smiled. ''Miss Fellows is quite a rebel, isn't she? Well... do not think that I was at peace with such a situation. The basics of Muggle studies are vital for your future education. Now, since we are still alone, I will award 20 points to Hufflepuff. Today's lesson was intended to be a comparison between Muggles and Wizards, but since you are alone, I will just skip it, relying on the fact that you know the basic differences. I will also not give you any homework. Now, Miss Dawn, do you have any questions, about todays lesson, your upcoming task or just anything else?'', Wilson said.

"Thanks Professor." Abbey said smiling. She thought about the first task, and how nervous it was making her. "Well...do you think there is anything in particular I should practice on for the first task?" Abbey asked. "Of course, you don't have to tell me if you can't."

''I will now ask a series of questions... which will themselves contain the answers and hints regarding the first task... you can answer them, but you are not obliged to. Now... how intelligent are you? How well do you know your Magic? How much do you cherish the truth? And how brave are you?'', Wilson said.

Abbey thought each question Professor Wilson had asked for her carefully.

"Well, I think I'm a bit more than average on smarts. There's only one or two classes I'm actually bad at. And I think my knowledge of spells and charms is pretty good, though I have an immense amount of knowledge of magical plants." Abbey said, smiling. "I've always wanted to be an Auror, so my father taught me many things about different plants that I've used to help heal myself and others." Abbey explained.

Abbey had a hard time answering the third question. "Well, I like the truth. I just haven't always been so truthful myself." Abbey said sheepishly. She thought about the lie she'd been forced to tell about her mother's actual cause of death, and then there was the lie she told to pretty much everyone these days; the lie about being in the Confederacy. Sophia was no longer one of her best friends because of it. Abbey shook the thought off of her lost best friend, and then thought about Professor Wilson's last question. "I believe I am brave. I fought againest two death eater's once." Abbey answered. "But sir, I'm still not sure what the hidden meaning is behind those questions." Abbey frowned, trying to put her intelligance to the test.

''Regarding your intelligence, well... that can't be fixed, but I see now that you have more than sufficient. Regarding your Magic and Plants... that will be of much use. Especially the plants bit. Learn them by heart - all of them.'', Wilson said.

He then looked at Abbey while she was answering the third question and thinking about what she has said. ''Interesting... regarding your fourth answer... two death eaters at once, that is brave for a witch your age. It will suffice.'', he replied.

He then took his glasses of and cleaned them with a handkerchief he had in his pocket. ''Regarding your third answer...'', he said while cleaning the glasses. He then put them back on. ''Everybody lies, Miss Dawn, remember that! You like being told the truth and you can, I hope, differ truth from a lie. Now, tell me... Miss Dawn, before you think through about the meaning of these questions, is there something you wish to tell me?'', he asked looking at Abbey with a light, friendly smile. The same look his old friend Dumbledore had.

Abbey was glad that Professor Wilson thought the amount of intelligance she had would be alright for completeing the tournament.

Abbey pondered why Professor Wilson wanted to know if she wanted to tell him anything. She couldn't tell him she was in the Confederacy; that was a well kept rule. But he had never known her mother, so why would she tell him her actual cause of death? "I don't think so Professor. But thank-you for listening to me. It was quite helpful!" Abbey said.
