Selwyn just shrugged. There was no way he was telling his dorm mates all his life problems. It could only lead to worse problems.
"Guess it's the stress of the Tournament, or something," he said. "They wouldn't tell us what the first challenge is, only that it's supposed to test all our magical skills. Everyone else is off practising spells and duelling their mates right now," he improvised.
He thought of the other thing he'd learned in the meeting and wondered if not sharing it would give him more of a chance at finding a partner. Probably not. Besides, the other three will go and tell everyone if he didn't.
"Oh, and there's gonna be a Yule Ball after the first task," Selwyn informed them. "And Shacklebolt reckons it's compulsory for everything that moves in Hogwarts, including ghosts and house elves. Can you imagine Peeves at a ball? Besides, we just had that masquerade."
Which really wasn't as important as Selwyn's house elf phobia.
