Two friend's meeting up [Malkaiden]

It was approaching the Valentine's fourth day of their holiday. So far it had been much better than Nick had expected, he was pretty sunburnt but it looked good, much better than the milky white tone he had came with. His holiday highlight so far had been his first day where he had met a couple of people down the beach. One person in particular had stuck in his mind. Her name was Malkaiden and to Nick's suprise he had found out that she was a student at Hogwarts. Since they had parted company at the end of that first day Nick had found himself constantly looking forward to their next meeting, which was scheduled for Thursday. His good mood could not even be spoiled by his mother's annoying optimism. For the first time in a while he found himself playing with his little sister and enjoying the famillies company. They spent their second and third day sitting by the pool at the hotel but Nick was not bored. It was times like this where he wished he had one of those muggle devices they used to send messages.

Malkaiden and he had arranged to meet outside a local cafe at one oclock tommorow and after eating dinner with his familly Nick found himself wandering upstairs to get ready for tommorow. After setting out his clothes and other accesories he headed to bed.

The morning did not come swiftly but when it did Nick felt a certain spring in his step. He practically jumped out of bed and headed straight for the bathroom, jumping into the shower and then slapping on some of his aftershave. He grabbed the clothes that he had laid out the night before. A pair of blue jeans and a white shirt, which with the sleeves rolled up and the top few buttons left undone made him look handsomer than he actually was. Popping on his aviators and a watch topped of the look "Mum!" he shouted. No reply came and so he drew the conclusion that his parents had taken his sister down to the pool. He shrugged then walked out of the room, heading in the direction of that cafe Makaiden and he had arranged to meet at.

He arrived with ten minutes to spare, opting to take a seat at one of the outside tables, under one of those huge umbrella's, Nick never knew what the muggles called them. The waiter came up to him to take an order but Nick told him that he was waiting for someone. For the next five minutes he found himself constantly staring at his watch.....

Mak has had a pretty eventful time in France. Most of it has been spent at dinners and parties which she was to accompany her cousin to, but she got one day at the begining of her trip to spend at the beach. She enjoyed this day most of all. She had met a fellow Hogwarts student, and he had asked her to meet him again at a local cafe. She has had butterflies in her stomach ever since in anticipation of thier meeting again. She could not seem to shake the feeling, but she really didn't care too much if she did. She was quite enjoying herself.

Tuesday could not come soon enough for Mak, so Monday night she caught herself absentmindedly checking and rechecking her wardrobe for the new sundress she had just bought when out shopping the day before.

Mak awoke on Tuesday morning early and it felt like the day dragged on. At 12 o'clock she put on the pearly white sundress that came just to the top of her knees. She grabbed a couple of brown necklaces to adorn her neck, and She put her hair up in a neat pony tail with her long bangs parted to the right side.

She strolled the streets for as long as she could to kill time, but at last she arrived at the cafe to see Nick seated at a table in the front. She smiled at him as she appraoched the table.

As Malkaiden approached the table Nick stood up and greeted her with a kiss on her cheek. He took in her appearence before speaking, the white pearly dress suited her, it brought out the tan she had accumulated throughout her holiday. He motioned for her to take the seat opposite him before complimenting her on her appearence "You look lovely today Malkaiden, its good to see you again and to see that your looking well." Nick took his seat when the girl sat down. He took out a leather muggle wallet full to the brim with paper notes and placed it on the table "Can I buy you something? A drink or something to eat?" He smiled and leaned forwards slightly "How has your holiday been so far?" The nerves that had plagued him seemed to get lost in her smile and Nick quickly grew in confidence.

Mak felt the warmth of his lips on her cheek as her greeted her when she arrived. She smiled at him and took the seat across from him and crossed her legs properly since she was in a dress. She was surprised at the compliments he said to her, but replied sweetly, "Thank you are too kind, but it is good to see you again and looking well."

She now was able to take in his appearance, and she thought the color that his skins had gained from the sun looked great with that shirt. She caught herself staring at his eyes as she heard him speak again. She picked up a menu and scanned it as she asked him, "I've never been here before. Do you suggest any particular dish?"

She laid the menu down before he replied and leaned slightly toward him as she told him more about her holiday thus far, "It has been an eventful one to say the least I suppose. My cousin, Callia, has had me all over the country it has felt like." She caught herself back in that slightly mesmerized state, but she was able to come back to her senses to ask him about his. "How has yours been going since I last saw you?" she inquired.

Nick caught himself before he offered Malkaiden another compliment, he was embaressing the young girl. How awkward he would have felt had the tables been turned. Still she had admitted that it was nice to see him again so that was something and from what Nick could gather she seemed genuine. Copying her he picked up a menu, not that he could read it, as it was all in French. He laughed a little from behind the menu when she asked him to recommend something. "Im afraid this is my first time too, Malkaiden, I was kind of hoping you would order first and I could just order what you did." Nick smiled that cheeky grin again before returning his attention to the menu, looking up only when she began to speak of her holiday.

Nick was pleased to hear she was having a good time. Her cousin must be a right piece of work he thought to himself. A wave of sadness overcame him as he realised he was missing parties and dances all because he was holidaying with his parents, what a drag. When asked how his was he replied honestly "Suprisingly good. I never thought Id have a good time with my parents hanging over me but I've just been relaxing by the pool, topping up my tan," He smirked then glanced at his burnt arms "It looks like you have been doing the same! Why dont you tell me a bit more about you Mak? What OWLS are you planning on taking? Do you enjoy Hogwarts?"

Nick was very interested in hearing about the girls school career. He would be able to tell whether or not she was a bit of a geek, or indeed a popular kid from her answers. Nick knew she would be popular, she was beautiful and easy to get along with, two essential qualities for such a person.

Mak brushed her dark brown bangs off her face so she could get a better look at the menu again. She looked it up and down and decided on of the safest things on there so as not to get something too gourmet or exotic. " Well if that is the case then I belive that...Croque-monsieur looks proper for this time of day," She smirked at him and wondering if he had a clue what that dish was and then added to be nice and cut the suspense, "Don't worry it is only a hot ham a cheese sandwich grilled, and a tea with that sounds nice to me."

She folded he menu and laid it to the side a listened intently to his assesment of his holiday. She smiled as he sounded surprised at enjoying time with his family. Mak's family was important to her, even though sometimes they could get on her nerves she was gerneally happy to go any where with them. She interjected in when he was talking about relaxing at the pool, "I would have rather been relaxing by the pool believe me. Parties are fun, but not with a bunch of people who you have a language barrier with."

She was a bit surprised at his next series of questions because they had turned to school. Some how Nick did not strike her as the serious student, but he was a prefect. "I'm really not that interesting, but if you insist," she warned with a grin but then continued, "I am taking the usual OWLS: Transfigurations, Charms, Herbology, Defense Against the Dark Arts, Potions, Astronomy and I added Arithmancy last year... I do enjoy Hogwarts. I plan on trying out for the house team this year as a Chaser, or whatever position is open. I'm just slightly competative," she said as she held up her hand where you could see her forefinger and thumb make a small gap between the two.
"Do please tell me more about Nick. Have you decided what you would like to do after Hogwarts?"

"Croque-Monsieur, my favourite." Nick said rather sarcastically through a smile. It sounded like some sort of hex but if Makaiden enjoyed it he was sure he would. The French from what he gathered had very odd eating habits, snales and frogs were just two of the specialities so naturally he was a little nervous. The girl obviously picked up on this and put his mind to rest, telling him it was a grilled sandwich, he laughed a little at his foolishness. "I thought I was in for something terrible, but yes that sounds just fine." Nick set the menu down flat on the table, hoping this motion would attract the waiters attention, in the meantime though there were replies to be listened to. Malkaiden would no doubt get on with his mother, she was clearly very familly orientated and he had to stiffle laughter when she spoke of the problems she was having at those parties, "But I thought you could speak French?"

When he found out that she would be competing for a place in the Gryfindor Quidditch team Nick grinned "No way, I love Quidditch, imagine if we got to play against eachother? Im a little bit competative myself, I play seeker." Quidditch was one of his favourite subjects so he was a little bit dissapointed when they moved away from it to more serious stuff "Well Im not to sure really. What with the state of the wizarding world just now I guess I could become and Auror if I tried hard? I havent put to much thought into it, what about you? I know your only a fourth year but have you any plans?"

She laughed at his sarcasim. He is so cute, she thought to herself though trying not to let him notice. She was horrible at hiding her feelings from anyone. If she was mad, sad, glad, angry, whatever, you knew it. You could read it in her eyes. "That smile right there, I like, takes my nervousness away" she said before she was really able to stop herself and she smiled casually as though it was everyday conversation, but she watched carefully for his reaction.

She looked up mischeiveously and said in reponse to her French, "I'm still working on that." And then she watched his excitment as he spoke about quidditch. She had obviously hit the jackpot on that subject and would have to remember to bring it up later. She made a mental note here. "It would be fun to play against each other if you thought you could take me," she intejected playful and jokingly.

She tilted her head slighty as she listen and leaned a little forwad again because the talk was more serious. An Auror? That will be very dangerous, admirable, but dangerous. She in fact had thought much about what to do after school, but she hadn't decided on anything for sure. "An Auror, your a brave soul. I have thought about many things for the future. Some of my family is involved in the French Ministry of Magic and my cousin, Callia is talking to me about doing that, but I am not for sure if that is the route I want. I suppose I have a little bit of time to think it over. I honestly hope that the first couple of years out of school I can spend some time traveling. I love a good adventure and what more adventure is there than to take out own your own and go explore places you have never been?" She question. She was always looking for something new to try, to learn. She was a bit of a rebel in this sense because most people like to stay right where they were raised and never leave from that site.

When Makaiden told Nick that his smile calmed her he blushed a deep red. Luckilly however his sun burn hid this. He had never been complimented like that before, it was a really heartfelt comment. Of course when he was told this he couldn't stop smiling "Well Im glad someone can find admirable qualities in me. That was really nice of you Mak. Your quite a charmer have you done this before?" He teased. Nick had been quite a heart throb last year at school but nothing serious materialised out of it. He could tell right from the off though this friendship he was formulating with Makadien was strong. They were already at that stage of being able to joke with eachother and Nick stiffled fake laughter as she claimed he was no match for her at Quidditch. Clasping his hands together he put them behind his head and relaxed in his chair. "We shall see, we shall see."

When he heard about Mak's connections within France he was thoroughly impressed. His familly was well connected though not through their own merit, just because they were pure bloods and related to everyone. He could associate with her when she spoke of the feeling of needing to travel, he felt like that almost every day. He blushed again when she praised his bravery "If I dont make Auror Id like to become a teacher. I love Charms and Defence Against the Dark Art's. Who knows perhaps one day we could travel together?"

It may have came of as a desperate request for her attention so Nick was thoroughly pleased when the waiter approached him and he could place their orders. To his suprise he didnt need to pay straight away, something about a tab?

Mak raised her eybrows as he asked her if she had done this before, "Wouldn't you like to know," she joked back because she found this too lighten the mood and keep her from blush so, but her ceeks still reddened slightly. "Actually I'm not normally very good with talk to guys period, but with you just seem more comfortable. Not akward at all," she added. She hoped this didn't sound forward or weird, but there was no other way to explain how she was able to converse with him so smoothly otherwise.

She saw an air of cockyness when the subject turned back to quidditch and she liked this. You had to be confident at what you did, or else you were never going to get anywhere. Teaching. He is full of surprises she thought. Travel together ehh? Well if another trip was half enjoyable as this one then how could she turn it down? But she knew she definitely could not vocalize this. Act casual. Don't be too excited, she told herself, "Well if any other trip is as enjoyable as this one then I think I would like that some day," had she really just said that? Oh well hopefully he wouldn't take it the worng way,She blushed, but at that moment the waiter came to take there order. She was glad for this so that she could move the subject else where.

"So I know that you are bound to have a favorite quidditch team. Tell me about them?"
