Making Enemies (Vanessa, open)

Alice sat on a spare chair in the Empty Classroom, humming. She was thinking about all of the good things in her life. Ben, Merlin, and the quiddich team. She started humming the Hogwarts theme song, until she was singing it.

"Hogwarts, Hogwarts, Hoggy Warty Hogwarts,
Teach us something please!!!"

She didn't know if she was good or not, so she hoped nobody heard her.

Vanessa was walking down a corridor in a foul mood. She heard someone singing the Hogwarts theme at the top of their lungs. Vanessa took a deep breath trying to block the annoying tune out of her head, but it was impossible. Vanessa thrust the door to the room it was coming from angrily. "Can you please shut up!" she shouted, fuming.

Alice was taken aback. Oh great, another Slytherin, and maybe Death Eater... she thought.

"Whatever!..." she said. She was always terrible with sassy and snappish and smart retorts.

Vanessa arched her eyes and looked at the girl. Of course it was a stupid Hufflepuff that was singing. She rolled her eyes at the retort, "Honestly if you can't come up with something decent to say just don't open your annoying mouth." She glared at the girl. She was definitely not in the mood to deal with her.

Alice rolled her eyes largely and pointedly at her. She sighed and asked this..

"Well, what would YOU recommend I sing? Hickory Dickory Dock?!?" she said. She felt like that was better than most retorts she had given, but pretty weak still.

Vanessa smirked at the reply. "Perhaps you shouldn't sing anything at all. I think that would just make everybody happier." Vanessa glowered at the girl. Hickory Dickory Dock? Vanessa hadn't even ever heard of that song. Must be another muggle-born, she thought with a crinkle in her nose.

She saw the girl crinkle her nose, and thought she knew what she was thinking.

"I'm pureblood, if that's what you're crinkling your nose at." Alice said. She smirked a little and drew out of her pocket a picture of her mum and dad. She didn't know why she brought it out, just to prove it to herself, she guessed.

"Well you sure don't act like one," Vanessa snapped at the girl. She watched her draw a picture out of what Vanessa assumed were her parents. She laughed slightly when she realized who was in the picture, "They hardly count as pureblood. They were blood traitiors." Vanessa had heard her mum and dad go on rants about the Longbottoms and other families about how they were disgraces to the wizarding world. The rants rubbed off on Vanessa over the years. It would have been impossible for them not to.

Alice felt her face redden. She always had a hard temper and if the girl said another thing like that, she was going to blow.

"You take that back!" she said deeply, with anger. The girls laugh didn't help either. Looks like she had a little talk with her parents. 'Humph', she thought. Shows what she knew.

"I won't take it back," Vanessa said coolly. "It's quite true." She smiled slightly. She didn't know what it was about this situation that made Vanessa so angry. She couldn't help but fight back. She saw the girl's face redden. Her comment had obviously had an effect on the girl.
