Rather than a "create a spell" thread, perhaps a thread for spell submission (ie, there is an acceptance process), or a thread with spell creation guidelines.

For example, there are "overpowered" spells used in the movies, from which guidelines could be drawn, notably, the incantation Hermione uses on the Devil's Snare in Philosopher's Stone. The lexicon says about it:

This spell is not to be considered canon because it does not fit in with the established "rules" of magic in the books. For one thing, Devil's Snare in the books shrinks from fire, not sunlight. For another, there is clearly no light spell of this intensity available in the Harry Potter universe. If there were, Dumbledore would certainly have used it instead of the feeble Lumos spell to search the Forbidden Forest for Krum and Barty Crouch senior (GF28). Also, Lupin would likely have used some more powerful light spell to illuminate the compartment on the train when the Dementors had extinguished all the lights. Instead, the best he could manage was a handful of dim blue flames (PA5).

And of course, there are also some quite good essays in the Magic and Magical Theory section of the lexicon that could be helpful.

Ne'os, keeping vampires in check is not part of the head vampires job, but the ministry's (department of control of magical creatures). So no to that.

However I like the idea about Vampire education. I'll probably add that soon ^^

Also, I agree with Ne'os about locking the half breed section. We do have to much.

As for the spell creating, the problem was not only overpowered spells (we didn't approve most of them) but also that people were using them incorrectly. However, I guess I'll add it again.

Hey Another Idea Popped into my head again. Should mabye De's and OOTP members have
practice battles like in each forum theres 2 teams and they practice spells kinda like the Da but for De's and Order members.

I have an idea/question about the Diagon Alley board. I noticed that the Leaky Cauldron isn’t listed and was wondering if it could be considered a meeting place/gathering spot/lodge for the wayward traveler? Would make it easier for a non-Hogwarts student to find a place to lay their heads at night lol.

This is just one for making the site a little more.. I don't know, realistic?
I have seen quite a few marriages or whatever going on and well, the youngest
at fourteen? Like really? No offence to anyone, but dating I get, engagments
and marriages just wouldn't be able to happen.

Rules on age? Best title I could come up with for this 'suggestion'
but maybe it's just me having noticed and thought more on it..

&& this one is mostly because i'm just OCD in my own way
but some spelling errors are real bad on ranks.
Adrian's(sp?), for example. More than just one word is spelt incorrectly.

I third the marriage thing. I'm not sure what those laws are over in England, but I'm fairly sure getting married at 14 is illegal.....

I do agree with the marriage thing at like age 14. In some states however, it is completely legal to get married as early as 15 with parental consent...Maybe make the age limit to 16?
