The headmaster led them to a very large cage. "Gather round.. We're going to be learning about sphinxes, so who can tell me what sphinxes are?"

Darren rolled his eyes when no one answered and decided to himself. "The spinx is a human headed creature with a lions body which is capable of human speech. Sphinxes usually guard treasure and attack when the treasure is threatened. They also have an odd liking for riddles.." Darren explained.

The headmaster nodded, feeling rather annoyed at the rest of the class. "Yes they are very powerful creatures. They are in the beast division because of there violent tendencies, even though they have near-human intelligence. However, since they do not always attack the ministry has given them an XXXX rating. They are wizard bred species and extremely hard to catch, I however have managed to catch one," he said, waving a hand at the covered cage, and looking around to see if they were still paying attention.

Addy looked at the Sphinx with a wierd expression on her face. She's never seen a Sphinx in real life, she thinks she saw them in a book though. " If it's hard to catch one, how did you manage to get one professor ? " she asked him curiously.

Clair had been sitting on the grass awaiting for the other students to arrive. It wasn't before long that the class started. She jumped to her feel bag in her hand and began following the professor when he had obviously announced for everyone to follow him. Like always Clair was in the back barely seeing a thing. She had almost tripped of a fallen branch as she tired to get a view of the unique creature. Jotting down what the Professor mentioned about the Sphinx in her notes.

"Welcome miss.chang, you are late, try to come on time next time," the professor said, not taking points off her as he knew she was new. He then turned and frowned at Adebola. "Well, I am a very talented wizard. Anyways, Sphinxes arent that violent, they only attack when you cannot answer one of their riddles. I convinced this one to come along with me after answering her riddle. Anyways, we won't be doing any practical exercise today, as sphinxes are too dangerous for you guys ..."

She averted her eyes away from the Professor. She was so embarrassed that she had arrived late. Sighing softly she manged to mumble an apology. She was glad that he wasn't going to take away house points for her tardiness. She was going to makes sure she would arrive to class on times. She didn't want to always be late to his class. After all this was one of her favorite classes.

Jess rolled his eyes. Sphinxes! They were doing bloody sphinxes, what a boring creature. He'd caught many of them during his stint as CoMC teacher, and frankly, he was bored to death of the animal, so, with a sigh he jotted some stuff down and sat on the cave floor.
