Tbh it depends what kinda stuff you like. Do you watch anime already? Or do you wanna start?
Action; Naruto, One Piece, Ghost in the shell, Blood [is apparently quite good], Full Metal Alchemist, Detective Conan, Dragonball Z, Sailor Moon, Beserk, Initial D, Claymore
Other; Gokusen [Haven't got round to watching this or the drama yet but it's meant to be awesome had like 3 seasons for the drama which is rare], Inuyasha, Wolfs Rain, D.Gray Man
I don't watch girly stuff buuut; To heart, Boys: BE, School Rumble, Azumanga daioh, Lucky Star, Azumanga Daioh, DN Angel, Fruits Basket and Ouran highschool Host club, Lovely Complex [I actually watched the film of this one - pretty good], Sailor Moon
Stuff like Bleach [214 eps so far + ongoing] , Naruto [beware millions of eps + ongoing], Death Note [around 30 eps and finished], One Piece [I cbb to go look how many eps, but there's alot] are ones that most people have watched [well at least 1] I say start with something like One Piece [it's a classic] but tbh it depends on what you like
