"You have mighty powerful wishful thinking," Elwood teased Aria. "Seriously, though, if you work on your strategy, you could be a formidable player. Keep up the good work. Checkmate. Sorry, my dear, right here." He showed her her mistake that had opened up the path for him to win.
Simone smelled baking cheese and chocolate. She went to the oven and took her cakes out of the oven. "Someone's cheesy something or other needs to be taken out of the oven," Simone said.
"You want me to get it?" Angus asked Ruby. "And how's your salad coming? Did you get it handled? Can I help you with it at all?"
"Hey, we're home!" Ginger and Anise called, coming in on Angus and Ruby's side. "Evan didn't stay. They're delivering a new boat or something today, and he has to go do something or other with it. We really weren't following what he was saying."
"Come over here, please," Simone called. The girls came over.
"We have someone for you to meet," Angus told the girls. "She's a new addition. She's in trouble, and she needs a safe place to stay. We think she's your age, but we don't know for sure. Jada, these are our daughters, Anise and Ginger. Girls, this is Jada. She's part Fae, so she can only communicate by Fae-speak."
"Cool!" Anise beamed. They went over and shook hands with Jada. "We're both werewolves..." Jada was wide eyed, a bit frightened by it. "Wolfsbane users. We don't transform while we're on it. You're safe." Jada breathed out, relieved, nodding."
"Make sure you welcome her and help her fit in," Angus said. They nodded, motioning to Jada to come with them. The three of them left the room.
"Well, so much for a debriefing," Simone laughed.
"Fitting in is far more of a priority for her right now," Robert said. "We'll handle her security. She needs to be a kid while she can. Oh, and when I tended her, I found some sort of a really strange symbol on her back, on her right shoulder blade. I gave a copy to Minos, and he's going to research it for me. He thinks it has some sort of important meaning. I'll keep you posted."
