"It's definitely scampi," Marcus agreed with Jessie. "I think a lot of people follow that white with white and red with red. Frankly, I think people should drink whatever they like. However, in this case, a good dry Chablis is great with scampi."
Angus listened to them talking about wine, and when Ruby asked him what he wanted to do after the funeral, he shrugged. "I think I'll rent a cave somewhere away from all of it. What do you think?"
Carlo had been busy setting the table in the dining room for a change when he had heard someone calling from the floo in Edward's office. He came to find someone and found Angus first.
"Qualcuno ti vuole davanti al caminetto dell'ufficio. Si chiama Roberto," Carlo said.
"Grazie," Angus said. He looked at Ruby. "I'll be straight back," he told her. He went into Edward's office and closed the door, and saw Robert waiting. "What's up?" Angus asked.
"So, Nigel and Edward and Marcus have kept me informed," Robert said. "How are you--really?"
"Physically? I'm alright," Angus said.
"Good. Now, how about the rest of you?"
"It's stressful," Angus said.
"Yeah. I'm sure it is with people wanting you dead on all sides. I can understand why you want to go to the funerals tomorrow. What are you plans after that?"
"Edward says we should come home," Angus replied.
"I know. What do you want to do?"
"I don't know. Ruby just asked me that, and I don't have an answer for her."
"Let me ask you. Is it helpful for you to have Marcus?"
"More than you know," Angus said, sitting next the fireplace, betraying far more fatigue than he had intended. "I've come to rely on him too much."
"Not possible under the circumstances," Robert replied. "That's why I sent him. Look. David and Khaat are getting on just fine. James has been laying low, for whatever reason. If you want to keep Marcus til some of this simmers, then I'll leave him with you for awhile longer, regardless of where you decide to go. I think they may have a point, though, that you are a bit insulated here from your family. You won't have that option elsewhere."
"I've thought of that," Angus said.
"If you come home and it just doesn't work, we'll make arrangements for you and Ruby and the kids to go stay elsewhere for a bit to get a break. Fair enough?"
"Yeah. Sounds fine," Angus said.
"Alright. And if you change your mind and skip the funeral, I think that is just as much of a sign of strength and force if you show them that they are just not worth their energies. Either way gets your point across. You do what you want to do, and not what you feel you have to do. We'll see you either tomorrow night or the next morning. I'm sending another little package to you. It will help your potions to be more effective. Just give it a try, and let me know. Goodnight, Angus."
"Goodnight," Angus said, watching the portal close. He went back to the others. "Apparently he's sending someone else with another package of some sort."
"Okay," Marcus said.
